I received a recall notice for my 2014 chevy Traverse airbag June of 2023. I have tried to set up an appointment to have it replaced many times and am told that parts are not available. Many manufacturers have already taken care of the replacement. I am concerned about operating my vehicle in an unsafe manner. When can I expect this to be taken care of?.

There is definitely something going on with the transmission. This car should not be having transmission problems. The car is not old at all! I was told that the transmission is leaking and I don’t understand why in a car that’s only 7 years old! that’s ridiculous! also, the airbag is still not completed. I don’t want to have an accident and die because of sharp objects coming out! everything is a hurry up and wait deal! my. Car is very unsafe for me to drive. I run a carpool and I don’t want to hurt the kids.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact discovered that the front driver side curtain air bag cover panel was loose and unsecured. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the front driver’s side curtain air bag had partially deployed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been involved in a crash to cause the partial deployment of the air bag. Additionally, the front passenger’s seat occupant detection sensor had failed causing the air bag warning light to remain illuminated. In addition, the front driver’s seat rails had malfunctioned, and the seat continued to move while driving the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

I called the dealership a year ago about this recall. I just found out today that the manufacturer defect cannot even be fixed! I have been waiting a whole year for the part to come in just to be told today that there is no remedy or fix for this recall. I was told that my airbag inflator in my 2017 chevy Traverse can explode, even without a crash, due to a manufacturing defect!! now I am scared to drive my own car with this recall! I do not want to risk putting my family in danger! help!!.

My service airbag light is on.
The complaint is gm has yet to provide parts for a recall issued in may 2023. It is August 2024. Anyone that drives our 2017 Traverse will/may put their life in real danger if there is an accident where the driver side air bag sends shrapnel out. There doesn't seem to be any urgency on gm's part to provide remedy. Gm's recall statement says to replace the airbag. So far, we have had zero incidents that would cause the airbag to inflate. Ticking time bomb.
