Car Will Not Start Problems of Chevrolet Traverse

Without warning the vehicle loses power and shuts down. The check engine light comes on. When I shut the car off and wait a minute it will start up again with no problem. When I've tried to get a program reading from a repair shop, they were unable to do so because the check engine light had reset itself and no reading was available. At other times the car wouldn't start at all. . . And I have recently replaced the battery.

A week after the purchase, the car started to stall while driving and the ac went out. The dealer replaced the air compressor. About a few weeks later, the vehicle stopped wouldn't start. I took it back to the dealer and they claimed to have taken it to another repair shop and they deemed it an electrical issue. They claimed to have fixed it. I got the vehicle back and the very next day it started to smoke while driving and the ac went out again.

In the past few months my 2013 chev Traverse has had the reduced engine power problem experienced by thousands of other owners. It has happened going 70 mph on the highway and 30 mph on city streets. Usually I pull over to the side of the road. Turn off the engine for a minute then the car will start and operate as normal for a few days or a few weeks. In the past month I have been in fear for my life. I was driving 70 mph on the highway and my engine totally shut down. I had to avoid a tractor trailer in the right lane and coast over to the side of the road with no power steering. The car would not restart. I had the car towed to my mechanic. After the car sat idle for a day it started up. Codes were cleared and it ran normally again for weeks. Last week while traveling at 35 mph on a city street the engine shut off. I was able to get the car to the side of the road with no power steering, but still impacting the flow of traffic. A local police officer helped me push the car further off the road onto the sidewalk. It would not restart. I had it towed to my mechanic. 24 hours later the car started ok. Codes were cleared and it once again could operate normally. My mechanic consulted to a gm mechanic and they agreed the problem is the ignition switch. My Traverse has not had a recall for ignition switch replacement. I am aware that gm ignition switch problems have killed over (100) gm vehicle owners. Millions of gm cars have been recalled and this problem has been fixed by replacing the ignition switch, ignition lock cylinder and ignition key. Many more gm vehicles like my 2013 chev Traverse should be recalled and fixed or more people will die. In fact my guess is hundreds of additional drivers and passengers have died and the problem ignition switch was not blamed for these additional deaths.

I was driving down the road going 45 miles an hour when the engine of the Traverse just shut off while driving. I was extremely lucky that I was able to coast to a safe spot but there was no power steering. I was on a 2 lane road that gets a lot of fast traffic and was barely able to get to safety. Car would not start up again but electrical was still on. Traction control light lit up briefly a week before the incident. At the time of engine shut off-there were no warning lights or any indication. This is a manufacturing defect that has been well documented-so many people have complained about the exact same thing happening. I can't believe that no one is taking these vehicles off of the road! this is so crazy dangerous-someone has to do something to get these vehicles off of the road. Someone is going to get killed.

While driving my 2017 Chevrolet Traverse at interstate speeds, the vehicle, without warning, shut down. When I say shut down, I mean shut off completely. This was a complete loss of all power to the car. The engine shut off, the lights (internal and external) shut off, there was no power steering, the brakes where difficult to push down, etc. As I am now coasting down the interstate with no power to the car I put it in neutral and turned on my flashers. With no power steering and brakes that are stiff, I somehow was able to slowly force the car to the side of the interstate and get it to stop. I tried to restart the vehicle and it would not start. I put it in park and sat there for a few minutes before trying again. Once I tried, the vehicle started and I was able to drive home without further incident. The morning after this incident, I started up my Traverse and noticed that the fuel gauge is showing empty, but the car had a half of a tank when I got home last night. There is something serious going on with this Traverse and Chevrolet vehicles in general. This is the 2nd different vehicle that I have owned that has shut down while driving down the road. The 1st car was a 2016 Chevrolet impala.

While spouse was driving vehicle with kids on expressway, the vehicle shut off by itself. Spouse pulled over and waited about 10 minutes before vehicle started again. Couple of days later, vehicle would not start at all. Took to dealer a couple of weeks later as vehicle still would not start. Dealer found the electronic chassis module(ecm) was shorted. There is a known recall for this same vehicle and symptoms. Dealer and gm state this vehicle is not part of recall however same model and year across country has same issue.

The vehicle suddenly shut off, causing the power steering and power brakes to stop functioning. After the incident, the vehicle could not be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,000.

I was driving and all of a sudden air conditioner stopped blowing cold air, traction light came othe stability limessage came on as well saying offn, check engine light came on, battery gauge went way down, water gauge showed no water level, gas gauge showed no gas, I stopped to get gas and then car would not start, kept trying to start it, finally turned on but all gauges were crazy. Took the car right to waldorf Chevrolet on 2298 crain hwy in waldorf, MD. The dealer couldn't even get the car started again after I turned the car off. Never happened before they checked out the car and called me around 12:00 pm and said you computer board needs to be replaced is completely shot. After reading several chevy Traverses have the same issue. This needs to be a recall too many with the same issue. Its an expensive issue at that . I truly believe this model of car is a waste of money. I guess I should of bought a Toyota 5 years ago. . .
