1 Wiring problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 03/10/2020

Side detection system and cross traffic warning systems failed at 58200 miles on 2016 Traverse ltz. Warning messages appeared on dic to have this issue serviced. The messages appeared upon startup and while driving. Dealer indicted detection modules and wiring harness must be replaced due to water intrusion and corrosion in the module wiring connection. He indicated this was a well known gm issue. Repair cost is $1350. 00 and not covered by warranty. He indicated some earlier models have been reimbursed for repair but so far the 2016 Traverse is not on the list. This is an important optional safety feature that gm needs to resolve across the product offering. The design is poor with the module mounted inside the rear bumper cover subject to road salt, water and debris and a poorly sealed wiring connection.

2 Wiring problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

I have been having problems with my 2013 chevy Traverse the traction control light/stabilitrax comes on, which makes my check engine light come on, which then causes my engine to power down, I will then have to wait 2-3 minutes and it will either crank up or it won't (has to be towed), it also causes it to stall out when taking off or coming to a stop. Stalled out on me while pulling out into oncoming traffic thankfully I wasn't all the way out in the road or I would have been t-boned. I have taken the vehicle to a two different chevy dealers which it had to be towed to both within a month the first one told me it was just the battery $400 and 4 days later I was stranded on the side of the road with my 3 kids again. I had to towed to another chevy dealer which they replaced the ecm, repaired wiring that had burnt, replaced wiring harness and fpcm that had also burnt and performed a multipoint inspection. I was charged $1540. 06 on August 5, 2020 and hear I am October 26, 2020 and I am once again stranded on the side of the road with my 3 kids dealing with the same issues as before.

4 Wiring problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

The wiring harnesses in the a-pillar and b-pillar are not sealed from water. Water is getting into them and shorting out the speakers. This causes the warning chimes for seatbelt, backup camera and engine light to not sound. After a rain water can be poured out of the speakers connection box. Has been going on for 5 years.

7 Wiring problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 12/14/2015

Dealer has told me that the vehicle registers an error code of b0022. According to the dealer, gm tells them to check four wires on the connectors to the front passenger seat wiring harness that causes the check airbag warning light to illuminate. Specifically, gm tells the dealer to solder the connections on the four wires on the connector. The dealer has also told me that if the warning light for the air bag system is illuminated, none of the airbags will deploy. In my opinion this is a serious design flaw. If the airbag warning light is illuminated and you have an accident before the problem is corrected this could result in major injuries. Also, a connector termination problem is a manufacturing defect and should be corrected by the dealer, especially in a critical safety system such as the airbag system.

9 Wiring problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

The rear seat air conditioning/heating module controls get extremely hot whenever the headlights are on or whenever the rear unit is in use. The controls for the air conditioning/heating unit on the dash never get hot. I took the vehicle into the dealer today to have them check the problem. I was told they checked all the wiring and everything was as it's suppose to be. So, they checked the same unit in another Traverse and found the controls in that vehicle got hot as well. I was told that is just the way the vehicles are. The fact that the controls get hot at all, would indicate either improper gauge of wiring or switches that can't handle the electrical current. If what I suspect is true, there is a possibility of damage to the unit, fire or injury to occupants of the vehicle.
