I noticed the last few days the engine of my 2012 Chevrolet Traverse was slow to start. I thought it was the battery, but it was still holding a good charge. The check engine light was not on. I was driving it at 35 mph on a rural road when the engine shut off without warning. First time it ever happened. I started the vehicle and it was slow to start. When it did, I attempted to drive it and it would shut off again immediately. Happened 3 times in a row. Every electrical component inside the vehicle was still working. I let it sit for about 2 minutes and restarted the vehicle again. I then drove it to a parking spot about 30 yds away. While doing some research, I found this to be a common problem with GMC / chevy with the ignition switch, yet no recall.

While driving my Traverse it stalled going 50 mph. After restarting the vehicle the engine was at low power and would only go 20 miles per hour. The dash read low engine power, stabilitrak and traction control issues. Drove the vehicle at 20 mph in a 55 mph zone for about 5 miles with the flashers on. Took the vehicle to todd wenzel in davison michigan. Upon restarting to go to the dealership the vehicle drove as normal with the engine light on. The dealership coded it. ( see attached) we did do the work the dealership recommended. This was the fourth time we have had similar issues. The past three times just the engine light came on with no stalling or speed issues and the code was ignition switch fuse. We had the fuse replaced each time. All within 8-9 months. Engine issues came up as possible recall but not with my VIN #.

The ignition switch will not turn off or remove due to lack of signal from transmission.

Vehicle has intermittent electrical and ignition switch issues. It frequently will not start following multiple attempts at turning the ignition key, and has actually stalled in moving traffic while my wife and child were driving, a clear safety issue. Dealership has twice had vehicle for 4-5 days and indicated no trouble found both times. Dealership has provided no assistance in contacting gm (joe lunghamer Chevrolet, waterford mi). We have video of parked vehicle not turning over in garage following multiple attempts at turning the ignition, which would appear to be an ignition switch or electrical defect. Vehicle has on occasion it has stalled shortly after getting underway, also a safety concern if pulling out into moving traffic. Dealership has returned vehicle to us without repair.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse. While the vehicle was parked, the ignition switch was turned to the off position and the engine continued to run. In addition, the engine was making an abnormal noise and discovered that the battery fractured. The contact also stated that the engine warning light illuminated. The contact replaced the battery. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a leak behind the glove department that leaked onto the fuse, which caused a wire shortage. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

I was parking, backing into parking spot going maybe 2 to 3 miles and hour, tried to put car into park, was a little difficult. Then tried to take key out of ignition switch and key would not come out. Then realized windows would not roll down (all 4). I locked the keys in the car with the locking fob. Later in the day a person came to me and said my lights and radio were on, due to the fact I had different people try to get the keys out of the ignition thought out the night I know the radio was off while we talked about how to get the keys out. The next morning I took the car into the dealer to be fixed. I have a warranty after market on the car. The dealer said the warranty company will not cover repairs. I am trying to find out if others have had this same problem.
