Dashboard notification indicating tighten gas cap, and then check engine light comes on. Took vehicle to get scanned and code says evap leak, took to mechanic all issues were fixed including replaced gas cap as suggested by many chevy Traverse owners who have the same issue. 30 days later now same issue is coming up. Researched online and it seems that many other owners have experienced this and fix is only temporary.

The fuel gauge in my vehicle is not functioning correctly. It is showing that my fuel level is very low/empty even with a full tank of gas. I took it to the repair shop and the it had the codes p0452 for the fuel tank pressure sensor circuit and p0463 for the fuel level sensor. The repair shop replaced the fuel pump module which did not fix the problem. They suggested it appears to have an ecm issue. This exact problem is a recall on the 2014 chevy Traverse however my vehicle is not included in this recall.

My 2020 Traverse has the exact same issue as the 2019, and 2022 models, both of which have active recalls. I contacted chevy and their response to me was that there was no recall on my model.

Check engine light keeps coming on for a small evap leak. When putting car in park and turning car off, warning message comes up saying shift to park so I have to wiggle the shifter until the message goes away. Tailgate some times does not close when pushing the tailgate button. Remote start does not always work.

Faulty exhaust issues.
The exhaust pipe, gaskets and muffler. Yes, at times we do smell the exhaust inside the vehicle and a loud sound coming from the engine when the vehicle is in motion and on standby. Yes they were notified and are still waiting for parts to have it repaired. They advised to continue driving my car and refused to provide a rental to use during the downtime due to my ‘issue’ not covered by my warranty or extended warranty because my vehicle is over 36k miles. No warnings were on in the vehicle to notify me, I just noticed a weird sound as my car would start up when the vehicle is started and never stopped.
It has a leak and having electrical issues. Everything else unknown.

Transmission shudder.
The vehicle is equipped with auto stop technology that the driver can’t disable. While driving, the system is designed to initiate auto stop when vehicle comes to a stop. When my foot lifts off the brake to proceed, the engine kicks back in and vehicle moves forward. Two weeks ago at a stop, the engine did not kick back in. I had to put the car in park at the light and after several attempts to push the ignition button, the engine finally kicked back on. The vehicle had the same issue later that day so I scheduled with the dealer for 4 days out. No warning lights came on. My onstar app did not produce any error notice. Meanwhile, I saw a video to override auto stop, put vehicle in low gear 6. That’s what I did to get through to appointment. By day 3 (dealer is day 4), I returned to vehicle after an hour meeting and it didn’t start at all. The check engine light turned on, not the battery light. Had vehicle towed to dealer who said the only alert was a bad battery. (battery is 16 mo with 36 mo warranty & alternator 5 mo old). I replaced the battery. Picked up vehicle from dealer and 5 miles away at a stop, vehicle shut off. I put vehicle in park, pushed ignition button and engine turned back on. I thought it was a fluke. 6 days later the vehicle turned off at stops on four separate occasions. Each time the battery was fully charged. On one last instance at an intersection stop, the vehicle shut off, would not restart when I pushed the ignition button, brake pedal became stiff, and dash lights and radio were completely off, as if the battery died. I let the vehicle sit at the intersection for 30 seconds before trying the ignition button, and it finally fired up. To get home, I put it in neutral at each stop to keep it from going into auto stop. This issue is not generating an “error” on the computer so dealer techs have no idea what to do. When I bypass auto stop by shifting to neutral at stops or driving in l6, there is no issue whatsoever with the vehicle.
I had 2 mile hr front side inpack in a parking lot whitch pushed me into anther parked car . Then at that point my car went into at a high rate of speed . I had both feet on the break no help . I proceeded to hit other cars after the 3rd and 4rd car it finally quit . This was at a small airport thank got no one was coming out of the airport . I did everything I could to stop this car . It just kept picking up speed .
Pm409 code purge vavle . I replaced the purge vavle and gas cap the engine check light is still on . Their is a recall on the purge vavle emissions system.
Catalytic converter failed, 3rd time in 2 years. Vehicle began losing power while on interstate. Issue has been confirmed by dealership inspection. Issue has been claimed by many other owners of this make and model but no recalls issued or warranty coverage for known issue. Check engine light came on just as issue began while driving with my family.
One year ago the check engine light came on. Diagnosis stated evap system leak. Replaced a bad purge valve. Now almost a year later the engine light comes back on car also started struggling shifting and shift to park would come on when car was already in park. Diagnosis states a large leak in evap system, smoke test determined leak was coming from the fuel canister. Canister was replaced and within two trips engine light came back on and car continues to struggle shifting as well as having a rough idle. Another diagnostic test reported bad fuel sensor. 2019 Traverse seems to have a lot of evap system issues and have been told as well as read that this is a trending issue with this vehicle. With each diagnosis report it states it would fail fuel omission.
I have been experiencing an intermittent issue where the vehicle displays a “shift to park” message, even though the gear shift lever is clearly in the park position. When this happens, the vehicle will not fully shut off, and I have to repeatedly move the shifter back and forth or restart the vehicle to clear the message. This issue began around January 2024, and it has become more frequent over time. I understand that this is a known defect in gm vehicles, and that gm issued technical service bulletin #19-na-206 to address it. According to the TSB and owner reports, this problem is caused by a faulty park switch or microswitch inside the shifter assembly, and the solution involves installing a jumper harness and/or replacing the shift control assembly. This is both a functional and safety concern, as the vehicle may not recognize it's in park and could potentially result in a failure to turn off or secure properly. I’m requesting that general motors or an authorized dealer perform the recommended repair per TSB #19-na-206 at no cost, as this is a widely reported manufacturing defect. Please advise how this issue can be resolved as soon as possible. I am attempting at uploading a photo and a video. The system does not allow videos and it is rejecting the photo.
I currently own a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse with 63k miles the had a cracked catalytic converter. The catalytic converter was replaced but the dealer also charged me for a flex pipe replacement which they said was broken too. This is a known issue as per gm's own bulletin #pip5681, yet they refused to cover the repair in it's entirety. Gm is entirely covering this issue in 2018-2021 chevy Traverse vehicles, but they are refusing to cover the costs of the flex pipe replacement for approximately $600.
The exhaust broke, sounded like I was a race car driver. Muffle making loud noise while parking and driving.
The purge valve is ticking for the past two weeks dealership informed me yesterday that it is working as designed and no codes were noted by technician. Ticking noises ( which are very annoying) were not present when vehicle was bought about 3 months ago . The service rep informed me that although purge valve issues have been noted and taken care of by other gm models. , the Traverse is not part of any recall at the moment.

I have a 2016 chevy Traverse. The “traction control off” light has been on for about 2 months now, along with the service stabilitrak light, and abs light. When driving it seems is if though my abs is kicking in when it should not be. Since those lights have been on, the left passenger brakes seem to also be affected. Anytime I first begin driving until I hit about 30mph, or anytime I press the brakes, it feels like my brakes are locking up…or a better way to describe it is when driving in the snow and your abs kicks in and you can feel it in your brake pedal like the brakes are locked up, but there is no snow. Recently there were two times when I was coming to a stop light and nearly hit the stopped car in front of me because my brakes locked up and the pedal wouldn’t go down. Now, almost a week ago when trying to leave, my car will not start at all. The battery is new and the lights all work. The power of the car turns on but it doesn’t turn over to start or if it does it struggles to stay started and then dies right away. I have seen tons and tons of other videos or reviews of other Traverse owners complaining of the same problem ranging from 2014-2017 Traverse. Many people take theirs to a dealership and even they can’t figure out the problem or they say it’s a glitch in the system. There are far too many other chevy Traverse vehicles having the same issue. The only difference with theirs is the lights come on every so often. Mine don’t turn off, they are always on. This is extremely dangerous, much more dangerous than the air bag recall. These vehicles should be recalled immediately before something very serious happens. I have been without a vehicle now for a week while I’ve had to miss work and my kids have had to miss school. I have had the problem checked by a professional mechanic but couldn’t figure it out either. No one else has looked at it as it is dead so I can’t take it anywhere. It is available upon request for inspection.

Recall for emissions evap leak repaired less than a year ago after engine light illuminated. Had to be taken in two separate times to be fixed. Engine light illuminated again a week ago 10/1/23, when scanned by mechanic it is showing the same emissions evap leak. The vehicle is sputtering when trying to start and doesn’t feel safe when driving. Dealership said they’re unable to even look and diagnose for another week after knowing it’s the same recall.
The vehicle unexpectedly loses propulsion and or mechanical park, there is increased risk of crash or roll-away.
1. Orange check engine light will not go off on my dash, when scanned by the mechanic it is showing an emissions evap leak. 2. I'm having problem when I turn my Traverse off it beeps at me and I get a message that says shift to park. I wiggle the gear shift until it stops. This has been going on for quite a while now.
I went to shell and got gas on September 7th and September 8th when I started. My Traverse it started shaking like it was cold then the check engine light came on I went to autozone it read a p0496 code forevap system flow during non purge.
So since 8/02/23 when the vehicle had 54,000 miles it began to give electrical problems. I bought the car 01/16/23 it had only 26,000 miles. The service battery charging system light and battery saver mode went on and also the reduced steering light which began to shut the car down I immediately pulled over. Took it to gm dealer they tested battery was dead then charged it checked alternator it failed so they replaced alternator. 7 days later 8/10/23 the car is still running rough idle. Had savi code p0496 evap flow during non purge replaced purge solenoid. The car still the engine slightly was not 100 percent fixed I told them every time it wasn't good. 02/12/24 I took back to dealer engine running rough and every time I put gas it was hesitant the transmission I am assuming check engine light was on code p0496 the gm dealer diagnosised and replaced canister purge solenoid. So 2/28/24 battery saver mode light came on andservice battery charging vehicle stalled out checked alternator failed replaced alternator. 6/25/24 took to another gm dealer and the diagnosised it check engine light was on and told them my car wasn't starting well after I filled my gas and rough engine. Told me to come back 7/03/24 to do evap canister check engine light was on they found evap leak from from evap canister charged me 508 dollars. So I took vehicle from dealer towards hone filled up gas car would not start problem was not fixed called dealer immediately manager said get here before they close I did and manager left but on service guy got the master mechanic to look at it he said it's purge valve the next day they were closed due to 4th of July so was told to take back on 7/5/24 to replace purge solenoid. The gas issue was fixed but now the transmission is worse when I accelerate it stutters bad I been telling both dealers was told they can't look at vehicle unless check engine light was on so 3 faulty purge valves 2 alternators replaced and car stutters worse shift to park light.
While coming to a stop or a complete stop vehicle shuts off. While driving it looses power wanting to shut off.
2016 chevy Traverse fuel system problem while at an idle truck shuts off, also the truck drags while trying to accelerate. I have made a complaint before but haven't heard anything yet.
Vehicle all of a sudden started sound loud when accelerating on a trip home. Vehicle is 58k miles. Upon investigation, the vehicle was loud when starting as well. Mechanic determined front pipe under driver side had rusted and broken. Was told there is no recall, not covered under purchased extended warranty - $600 to repair. This should not happen on a vehicle this age. There are similar complaints about the same issue for the 2020 model.
According to general motors, the new gm special coverage (n222385510) is only applicable the 2021 model year of the chevy Traverse. The condition described includes the separation of the front mounting bracket from the front exhaust pipe. This happened to prior year models and are covered under a recall too. All years I searched as well as my mechanic. My vehicle is a 2020 and the same issue is present but has not been covered under a recall.
I had just got gas and the vehicle took longer than usual to start/turn over. I was leaving the store and sitting at the stop sign that is on a small incline. When I proceeded to go, my truck shook a few times, cut off, and I had no control of the vehicle. The brake pedal would not push down and my vehicle began rolling backwards. There was a car behind me that started honking his horn because I was going to run into him. I pushed the start/turn off ignition button and tried the brakes again and it worked. I had to sit there for about 5 minutes to get myself together because I was terrified to take off again. About a week later I was pulling out from my subdivision and the truck started alarming to service the stabilitrak as I was pulling out. At the moment, the steering wheel became almost impossible to turn and the car didn't want to go! I had several cars coming my way and my vehicle was in the middle of the road. Thank goodness the cars slowed down and my vehicle decided to start working. About a month later it started sounding like a go-kart. I had the vehicle checked out by a mechanic and I was told I needed a new battery and my exhaust pipe had a hole. I bought the battery and the $1200 pipe and had it installed. Now a different exhaust pipe has a hole and the part is on back order because apparently this is a frequent reccuring issue but no recall. I never feel safe driving my truck and it is a 2018 and not yet at 100,000 miles, that is pretty sad! the vehicle is available for inspection.
Car has many issues: jerks shift to park error when it is parked causing car to have lights on for hours brake error fuel issue traction error computer failure at times I got the car used was not fixed when I received it needs recalls I have kids you people expect me to pay for your faulty equipment please make this right if I het into an accident it's because of your brand.
I was parking in front of a restaurant- my foot was on the brake and as I came to a stop the engine revved up and the car surged forwarded about 5 feet - the car pushed a pole and blew out the front door and the door frame- all this time my foot was on the brake. If someone was walking in to the restaurant they surly would have been killed. No warning lamps or lights-I have not taken it to the dealer yet the body shop still has it. There was no police report the accident was on private property. If the dealer gives me the runaround I'll get rid of this car.

On multiple occasions the vehicle slowed to a stop but engine was still running. This happened once on the interstate at the speed limit. I got warning that power brakes and steering were not working. Other times the car shudders and stops. I then have to turn engine off and restart. I then take to dealer and they check with a computer and can find nothing wrong. I also had “shift to park”. Message and was unable to turn off engine. $300ish to get this fixed. The dealer said common in that vehicle. I want to make clear that this shuddering and limp mode problems have happened at least five times. The date above is the most recent.
Cracked exhaust & bracket back in 2023 causing a loud rattling noise. Now catalytic converter is cracked & gasket leak. Dealer does have notes that it was cracked & they noticed it in 2023 at 46k miles & that converter has now cracked causing engine light to turn on. Car does not speed up properly & gm only wants to cover 30 percent of cost.
