The buttons for my control dash where radio and heat adjustment are, the panel,. Gets blazing hot to the touch. Everytime we drive it. It's overheating so much I am concerned it wasn't fixed by a recall previously claimed. The buttons decals have melted off on some buttons. This happens when the car is on. I recently purchased this van privately in illinois.

Tamara inflates includes my brakes as I have to press the brake pedal all the way to the floor and the van would still not stop. Also my driver's side window will not go down.
Cigarette lighter shorted with the phone charger plugged in. The fuse did not blow, which caused an electrical fire which totaled the van.

I was pulled over do to no rear brake light or turn signal on left side. Got a ticket. Went to junk yard bought replacement only to discover it was also burned out and useless !!!!!!!!!!!!!! been through at least 50 bulbs in the last year alone. I am second owner. Also have another electrical issue as in the switch above in between front seats that control inside lighting. It must stay in the off position or it runs the battery completely down. Also the side door gets stuck in the open position and it takes a lot of strength to close it.

Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated the abs light was continuously illuminated and the power windows failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000. Sr.
I was sitting in traffic at a dead stop, then when the traffic light changed to green I put my foot on the gas pedal. As soon as I did the accelerator pedal stuck, went all the way to the floor and caused me to hit the vehicle in front of me. Also my gas gauge didn't work and would randomly move back and forth, even if I had a full tank of gas. Then, the driver side brake light continued to go out due to the melting of the part of the bulb, not the bulb itself. My electric sliding door on passenger side came off the track due to the cord and pulley/motor in the door. I could never get the door to work other than by manually opening and closing the door after that.

The contact owned a 2000 Chevrolet Venture. After being parked for two days, the vehicle suddenly caught fire. The contact mentioned that the fire originated in the engine compartment and caused a garage located next to the vehicle to catch fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 115,000.
I have a 2003 chevy Venture and when I purchased it, I noticed that the turn signals would start blinking real fast on the dash. When I would look at them on the outside they were blinking fine, as was the dash lights. This happened several times, so I thought that it was just the bulbs themselves. Then on March 29, 2014, I noticed a little puff of smoke come from the headlight area when my wife pulled into our driveway. I also noticed that the passenger side turn/parking light was out. I luckily had a bulb from another car to replace it, but when I took the assembly out and went to turn the connector to replace the bulb, and noticed it was hot. Thinking that something did not seem right, I let it cool down and then removed it. What I saw was the connector that holds the bulb was black and melted. It actually melted to the bulb itself. I looked at the bulb and it was still good, other than the bottom plastic part. The white smoke I had seen was either the connector catching on fire and melting or the melting of the plastic itself. I never saw any flames. I cannot afford to replace the connector, nor would I risk my family's life, so I have no turn signal. Then worse part is the driver side light was doing the same thing as the passenger, but it has since stopped and is working properly now that the passenger side bulb has been removed.
The vehicle randomly shuts down completely while driving - all electrical systems go off. Afterward, it cranks but does not start, after it's towed, it eventually starts. No error codes show in diagnostics.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated there was a delayed response when staring the vehicle. The vehicle would also surge forward during the ignition malfunction. The failure recurred intermittently. The failure was not diagnosed by the dealer nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 156,000.
Dash displays inaccurate or not working gauges. Temperature and speedometer often doesn't work at all or shows 120mph when driving at approx 55mph! temp will often show hot when car is at normal temp.
We bought the van used from a dealership about a year ago. The van was fine at first but a couple of months after we bought the van the fuel gauge fluctuated. The fuel gauge was at half, it went to empty then full and back to half, all in one motion. I thought it was odd but never had a fuel gauge do that to me before. After that the fuel gauge would fluctuate periodically but would always go back to were it was before it fluctuated. We figured as long as it went back to were it was before it fluctuated then we would just deal with it. Boy, were we stupid for thinking that it wasn't going to get worse. It eventually got worse and now it reads full(but its not) and just out of nowhere goes to empty and the fuel light comes on. Just last week the fuel gauge read empty, we put $50 worth of fuel in the van. The gauge read full, we did some running around town(we live in a small town) so we couldn't have used much fuel. We went home and was going to leave again a few hours later and when we started the van and got down the road, the fuel gauge went to empty immediately. Its frustrating that the fuel gauge doesn't display correctly. My wife usually drives the van and I don't want her to run out of gas and get stranded somewhere. I've been reading a lot about this problem on the internet and I was just wondering how many people does it have to affect to warrant a recall by gm? does someone have to get hurt or killed before something gets done? have always bought gm vehicles(never had any issues) but it doesn't make any sense if gm knew about the problem and decided to do nothing. Now were stuck paying 3 more years on a van that doesn't operate properly. We don't have the money to trade it in for something else and don't have the money to get it fixed. Very frustrating!.
The speedometer started acting sporadic not registering speed accurately then stopped working all together also the gas gauge does not register at all since the problem began . The low fuel light does operate as of right now. I have read that alot of Venture owners have this problem it is avery expensive repair 500 just for the parts.
2004 Chevrolet Venture temperature gauge suddenly reads hot. The gauge will not reset. The engine is not hot or running hot. No history of front damage. Van was purchased new and I am the only owner. Problem just started 2 weeks ago during a 5 hour trip. 96,479 miles. Will also complain about water in the head lights. . . Started around 45k. Have burnt out several bulbs. Poor design, but will known problem for gm.
Gas gauge and temperature gauge do not register at all on my 2004 chevy ventrue. Had fuel pump replaced as I thought that was initial problem, but then I was told I had an instrument cluster problem.
The day after thanksgiving I got in my van and drove to peoria which is about 20 from the city I live in. I went shopping for a few hours and when I came back out I turned my van on and it would not heat up. I noticed the temperature gauge was past halfway heading towards hot. I sat there for about 20 minutes with everything turned off. I turned the van on again and it seems that the temperature unit was stuck and had come unstuck. I was able to drive home. Two weeks later I was driving home from work and noticed that the temperature gauge was almost to hot. I pulled over and could not get it to go down. In the end I had to have it towed and worked on. I had the temperature sensor changed, the water filter and the thermometer. I got in my van last night to find out that the temperature sensor is still reading beyond hot. I drove it not even a mile and it was saying the van was extremely hot. I have 3 little children and I'm also a single mom. What is going on with the temperature gauge? has there been a recall on this? I'm still driving my van since I have to work and have no other options. I would like to know if my van is actually over heating or not. Help!.
All 3 of my gauges are intermittently malfunctioning, starting with the temperature gauge and progressing to the fuel gauge and finally the speedometer. They give erroneous readings and often don't reset to zero when turning off the key.
The contact owns a 1999 Chevrolet Venture. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when she smelled a burning odor. She then noticed white smoke emitting from the front driver side door. The vehicle was driven to the side of the road and the engine was turned off. The contact and passengers immediately exited the vehicle. The contact waited fifteen minutes to allow the door to cool down before accessing. The inner door panel was detached. The plastic parts inside of the door panel were melted and other inner components were severely damaged. The vehicle resumed normal operation and was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was in the process of notifying the manufacturer regarding the safety hazard. The failure mileage was unknown.

2002 Chevrolet Venture, experienced an electrical fire in dashboard. The consumer pulled to berm and the vehicle became completely engulfed in fire. According to the police report, a fuse had been changed in the cigarette lighter of the dashboard. The consumer stated that was the area she first saw the fire. (ohio traffic crash report # 10-0607-90) updated 12/7/10.
I have a 2004 chevy Venture van and my temp gauge and gas gauge are not working correctly, never know how much gas I really have and don't know if my van is over heating, the gauge is pointing down and won't reset to cold position. I went on line to research and found many people with the same type van with same problem with the cluster panel,I feel this should be investigated for a recall since there are so many case, and it is quite expensive to repair.
We have a 2004 Venture. The speedometer started being irratic for a time, followed by the temperature guage, and the gas guage. Now none of them work. The speedometer is stuck on 45 mph, the gas is over full (straight down) but sometimes moves around at the bottom, but it generally has nothing to do with whether or not I have put gas into the van. The temperature guage points down and to the left. None of the cluster has worked in over 2 years. I don't understand why this has not been recalled considering the amount of people that I have heard had the same issue.
Chevrolet Ventures seem to have an electrical problem affecting the right side (from the driver's perspective). I've noticed a lot with the driving lights out on that side, after I started having problems with my own. I've replaced the bulb in the front as well as in the back multiple times. Within a month or so, the bulbs are blown out again. The right side blinkers don't work in the front or the back after a month or so after they're replaced. Recently, I turned on the brights and the lights went out all together. We've had this van for 4 years and this has been an ongoing issue.
Brake lights/ tail lights. Burn out. Replace circuit boards. Three times. Water gets to the bottom socket.
Last summer I noticed my temperature gage was going over to the hot mark while I was driving along. I pay close attention to my gauges at all times,I have 3 daughters with me at all times. I pulled over at a rest area and let it sit a while. 45 minutes later it was still on the hot as soon as I turned the key. My husband took it to our mechanic and he said the air conditioning coil may be clogged and he repaired it. Was ok for a few days and then it was right back to hot. I had the temp. Gauge sensor replaced in Dec. 09 and that hasn't helped. My engine is not hot but my fear is,with my daughters in the car and not knowing if or when it really is getting hot. It stays on hot even if thereis no air or heat on and it can sit in my drive for 2 days and when I start it,it goes straight to hot,and past the red part.
Signal bulbs keep blowing out, definite electrical problem - brakes no longer work - bulbs are good, they work when you pull the back cases off. Put them on like they are supposed to be, no longer work. Cannot find anything wrong to fix it!.
Needs replaced frontend hubs ,tierod, pinion repairs/recall this van needs a new owner!!! nothing but costly repairs chevy needs to recall all them Ventures.

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated that the instrument cluster works randomly. The speedometer is not registering the correct speed and the dial becomes stuck at extremely low or high speeds. On occasion, the speedometer will work temporarily if the engine is turned off and restarted. The temperature gauge also works at random and does not indicate the correct temperature in the vehicle. The dealer stated that the instrument cluster was the cause of the failure. Other Chevrolet models have been recalled, but not the Venture. The instrument cluster has not been repaired. The contact believes the failure is due to a manufacturer defect and that they should be responsible for the repair. The current and failure mileages were 60,000.
No brake lights on my van all fuses are good and so are the bulbs.

2004 chevy Venture - gas gauge jumps wildly , gives inaccurate readings. Doesn't seem associated with the fuel pump sending unit. Appears to be electrically shorting, as when it park it will bounce up and down and it just seems as some sort of current problem. . Started 1 year ago. To know the fuel level, we track the mileage manually.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. While driving approximately 35 mph, the passenger side door slid open without warning. The contact's child was seated next to the door at the time of the failure. She pulled over to the side of the road to shut the door, but it would not close. An hour later, the door was able to close. The dealer was notified and stated that the sensor board needed to be cleaned. The repairs were not performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no recalls relating to her vehicle. The current mileage was 160,000 and failure mileage was 155,000.
We own a 2000 chevy Venture that we bought used about 4 years ago. When we bought it, the button for the doors to open automatically didn't work as well as the gas gauge. Since, we have replaced the heads, the water pump, rack and pinion, wheel hub, tie rod end, as well as replacing the head lights every couple months and now having problems with the brake lights. When we had the heads replaced, they flushed the radiator and we are still having problems with the low coolant light coming on and the fluid looking cloudy. They told us that the cloudiness sometimes happens, but still doesn't explain the light coming on saying its low!!! we were also notified that the abs box is bad and needs replaced. . . Also, sometimes there is water that leaks from the weather gauge or the top of the windshield. Also the traction system light comes on and actually shuts the system off when you turn the van on, this maybe due to the bad abs box but has been doing this longer then the abs light has been on. There is also rust along the van below the sliding doors. The locks also sometimes stick when using the keypad or the electrical lock button inside the van. We can't wait to get rid of this van! just hope we have better luck with our next vehicle.
In December 2007 my son parked our 2000 chevy Venture van and went inside. 10 minutes later someone told him the car was on fire. It was put out with a garden hose. Fire started in window control panel destroying the door and part of the dash, soot filled interior. Side window and windshield broken due to heat. Windows had not been used due to cold weather. Van was totaled by insurance company.
Problem with the the rear right break light assembly socket board burning out & condensation or water leaking into the assembly also related to cause. Multiple times electrical problems reported & replaced on this vehicle & again on 09/2011 & 12/2011 for same rear break issue.
Tail lamp failure due to water egress. Item is a 2001 chevy Venture tail lamp circuit board socket. Nature of design is a 4 bulb in-line circuit board socket holder, its mounted with electrical connector at the top, thus allowing water to enter the socket holder via wires and connector. Water floods tail lamp and shorts out the tail lamp. Over time the steel circuit plate wires become corroded and can no longer make a complete circuit, thus very dim or no tail lamp lights.
I have experienced numerous electrical problems, including the abs, tcs, and air bag lights coming on intermittently, and the dealer has said there's nothing wrong and reset it. My electric passenger side door would open for no reason when I'm trying to shut it. Now, my brake light was out, so I replaced the bulb. That did not solve the problem. My husband then looked at it and determined that the wire pins/plugs are burnt and exposed on both sides. Now I have no brake or tail lights, no blinkers, no reverse lights, and at night the top brake light is the only light and it stays on all the time. When I put the brakes on the dash lights dim and the radio lights turn off, the emergency lights come on, and the blinker goes at different speeds. When I called the dealer, they told me to call gm. When I called gm I explained even though it's out of warranty, I feel electrical problems that I haven't done anything to make, should be covered by the manufacturer. They said I need to pay for a diagnosis, and they may reimburse me, if they feel it's a manufacturers defect. Then call them back and they'll determine if they will cover any repairs. In the mean time, I'm concerned about a fire if the wire plugs/pins are burnt and exposed.
