2 Wiring problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

I was told it had intermittent rear lighting problem (driver side rear lights would go in and out) when purchasing vehicle used in 2012 with160,000 miles, 90% highway. Had repaired immediately for safety, legal and state required annual inspections (or so I thought). Within 3 months/75 miles later, it started again. Entire wiring harness and light assembly was replaced, to no avail. Before I could take it in again, both rear lights intermittently stopped working. Passenger side wiring harness and light assembly replaced. It wasn't fixed. And before I could get it back in the shop, the front passenger side lights started the same thing. New mechanic assures me, " don't worry, there are many things I can try!" little consolation for the drivers behind me or for me from being pulled over by & ticketed or when I need the va state mandatory "annual inspection" sticker. They are able to get them to work long enough but again, at what cost? meanwhile, the intermittent problem moved to the passenger front lights, when hitting brakes I see that flashers start to work. All of the mechanics are "putting a band-aid on a broken arm". & ii'm paying dearly each and every time. They now want to replace things in the steering wheel but I want Chevrolet to correct the problem this time or tell the mechanics what to do. This is a Mini-van that I drive back and forth to the grocery and school, . 5 miles - 5 miles a way 3-4 times a week.

4 Wiring problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 01/23/2007

- the contact has a 2003 Chevrolet Venture in which he had to replace the climate control switch because the fan switch stayed only on the low position, allowing for only one setting. The contact bought the replacement part and replaced the climate control switches on his own. While replacing the switches he noticed that the old unit had melted the plastic around the wire harness. The contact also had to replaced the left rear tail light assembly because it had completely corroded which made it inoperable. The contact is looking for reimbursement for the parts. The contact spoke with the manufacturer who stated that they wouldn't be able to consider any type of reimbursement because he didn't take the vehicle to a dealer to have it repaired. The failuer and current milage were 75000 miles.

5 Wiring problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 09/05/2005

2000 chevy Venture wb edition - passenger side front power window fails intermittently. I have had this car to the shop 4 times for the same problem, which they are unable to duplicate. When the problem occurs, the dealership is not open (like on labor day when I was unable to secure my car!). The passenger side switch was replaced on 5/9/05 and vehicle has been in to the dealership (lanna Chevrolet in woburn, MA) again in 6/05, 7/05 and 9/05 for the same problem. When the original problem occurred (5/05) the driver's side switch for the passenger side front window failed, but I was able to use the passenger side switch to close the window. On 9/05/05, both switched failed to operate the window to close it. Dealership has been less than helpful in getting problem fixed - which should be covered under my extended warranty (60,000 miles). I am, however, now at 58,800 and am being told that there is nothing they can do - but they have failed to actually check the wiring visually as it is 'too much work' and 'who is going to pay them'.

Anti-look brake system light came on and stayed on. Other lights are now flashing whem brakes are used. The main brake, signal and running lights have stipped working. The only brake lights working now are the led lights on the rear door. System is acting like it has a short or grounding condition. Unable to use this vehicle and is parked. Unable to repair this due to being on a fixed income. Vehicle was inspected and past the last part of April 2004.

7 Wiring problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 02/19/2003

Consumer complained of rear end problem. Consumer maintained that manufacturer never sealed the back end of the vehicle. As a result, water leaked into the vehicle. The manufacturer refused to repair the defect. However, the manufacturer was willing to dry out the vehicle. Also, a moldy mildew smell lingered within the vehicle. Mold was all through the ceiling as well as blowing through the rear vents, the back end leaked, the roof rail seams and pitch rail were not sealed, water leaked into the rear dome light and leaked onto the floor in the rear, the tires were replaced at 18k miles, the #2 and #3 fan relay shorted, the front end had excessive play, and the front windshield seal had come loose from the glass.

8 Wiring problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 01/28/2003

I own a 1998 chevy Venture with the 3. 4l engine. I am constantly loosing antifreeze and oil disappears with explanation. I am still under a warranty but the dealership says it cant find anything wrong with it. I am concerned that my engine might seize or fail while driving down the interstate due to a design flaw in the intake manifold gasket. The coolany that chevy uses dexcool has been known to eat away the gaskets, so large a scale has this happened that gm has switched coolants to prestone extended life. I want a recall done free of charge to fix this problem. It is definitly a safety issue as most have complained about cams breaking and loss of power. Someone is going to die because of this.

9 Wiring problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Venture

Service engine soon light states evap problem. Stinky emissions but dealer found no problem after I paid $162. Reset light several times but the same problem reappears after a few days.

11 Wiring problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 10/01/2000

Electrical system:when driving thru puddles/hard rain battery light on, loss of all steering/brakes/etc and then power "pops" back on-do not need to restart engine. Has occurred at stop and while driving. Dangerous in regards to instrument panel: engine coolant light comes off/on, coolant levels normal, car not overheating-will see dealer; at same time air bag deployment light on same side of panel comes off/on at intermittent times. Sometimes engine coolant light and airbag light are on at same times, sometimes they alternate. Seriously think there is wiring defect in vehicle. Also--instrument panel very hot to touch at radio area, high risk to burn. Also, have experienced flickering of overhead interior lights when key removed from ignition--not the normal "stay on for so many seconds" ?wiring problem will seek dealer attention, but of course out of warranty and concern of family safety is 1st and foremost. Any info you have to asst is appreciated.

12 Wiring problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 12/20/1998

While driving on highway, I drove over debris (tree limb) on highway while passing semi at approx. 65 mph. When I ran over branch, all vehicle electrical and braking systems suddenly went off, resulting in loss of lights, power brakes, power steering, signals, and power from engine - a total shutdown. I wrestled van to side of road and had towed to town (while on xmas trip, travelling thru ok). After towed to dealer (closed, at night), I checked under van to find a male and female plug for wiring harness disconnected and hangling down midway from front to rear on drivers side. I plugged two back together and van worked perfectly with no further problems. Altho there were no accidents, injuries, if my wife or daughter had been driving, they probably would not have been able to stay in control, pull van to side of road. I beleive that connector plug of this crucial harness should be better protected from unintended disconnection. I waited this long to report since I reported problem verbally to dealer immediately after trip and just found out this site exists. I just bought a 2000 Venture van, and harness/connection has changed slightly but still seems susceptible (I taped connectors to receptacles as a precaution).
