Car will speed up on its own and accelerate. The Venture will also over heat after running for 10 min. Or so. This van likes to stall while driving and you must keep your foot on the brake or gas to prevent this from happening while driving. Transmission has been slipping since I got the car. Only owned it less than a year, now it made a loud clanking noise last night and now it will not go in drive only in reverse. You have to shift gears on the steering column only and even then it's debatable if it will run.

I have had all the problems that everyone has complained about, but, the worst to me is that I am sitting here in need of a motor in my 1998 Venture van. I thought that I would be able to use to at least 100,000 miles. I started getting the ticking noise like at 50,000 miles and was told that it was the lifters, couldn't believe it, then before it hit 60,000 I had rods bearings and I am not sure what else done and by 70,00 my motor is blown. I am a homemaker with 2 children in college and 2 weddings going on, I can't afford a new car and now I am driving my brothers, it is embarrassing to say the least. I had contacted chevy and they offered me a little voucher to help pay on a new van. I can't afford a new one, I am not a vain person, I just want a car I can trust and thought that I had one in chevy. Now I see why people are buying foreign. I saw in the complaints where this has happened to several Ventures what are we to do?.

Engine is making a very loud knocking noise. Dealership only listened to vehicle, and determined noise to be a ticking noise that was coming from air conditioner. Consumer stated that ticking occurred when air conditioner was on or off. She did not feel that noise was coming from air conditioner. *note: consumer's husband discovered oil leaking from engine head gasket. Dealership stated that this was normal, and should not be considered a problem. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

Told dealer that engine is knocking/making a ticking sound. Can hear it clearly from within or outside of the van. Took it to dealer once already and will be taking it again on Tuesday, October 17, 2000 for testing. Engine is also taking longer to start. . . Hard start no matter if hot/cold start. Already had to have new brakes, shocks and struts put on the vehichle.
