The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Venture. The vehicle comes standard with a built-in child safety seat. While fastened in the car seat the contact's 2 year old child was able to reach the adult seat belt, wrap it around his neck, and began to choke. Consumer complained about a problem with the retainer clip on the integrated child seat. A four year old child was able to open the clip at will. On four different occasions a child had been able to open the clip and release herself.

While driving at 35 mph another vehicle collided with consumer's vehicle on the front passenger's side. The consumer's child was seated in a child seat that was built into the vehicle. The five point harness that was restraining the child became undone. Four persons were in the vehicle at the time of the collision, and three sustained minor injuries. 2003 Chevrolet Venture was involved in a collision with another vehicle. During the collision the built in child seat five point harness became unbuckled. Four people were in the vehicle at the time of the collision. One of the passengers was a child that was seated in the built in child seat. The four passengers sustained minor injuries.

The mechanism used to tighten and loosen the integrated child seat harness strap was too accessible to the toddlers who were able to access the device and tighten/loosen the straps. It nearly caused serious injuries to the children, but was noticed in time to prevent it.

Power sliding doors open and close by themselves. When pushing button to close door, it will not close. While driving door would slide open on its own. Also, child safety seat located on that side would not close.

Child is able to push the button on the side of the child seat that is build into the vehicle, and when pushing the button on the seat, the seat will fold down onto the child.
The integrated child seat harness did not latch securely. A 2 year old child is able to pull apart the latch and climb out of the seat while the vehicle was in motion. The integrated child safety seat is in the rear passenger outboard position.
Child was able to unlatch chest clip to car seat without pushing the two clips together. The consumer owned a 2000 Chevrolet Venture with a built in car seat and recently purchased a 2003 Chevrolet Venture which also had a built in car seat and both vehicles had the same problem.
