My five year old son was getting into our van and walking toward the rear row of seats when he ran into the seatbelt that crosses over from the rear side window and was entangled. The seatbelt was so tightly wrapped around him that it would not move in either direction so that I could get him out. The only way that I could get him out was by cutting the seatbelt. We have had similar incindents when getting in and out of our van and going to the rear row of seats.

Gm has a rear bench style seat and it has a center seat. The center seat has no shoulder strap. They sell the van as adaptive equipment, and they remove the center seats, but the person in the center is facing the back of the wheel chair. There is no way for anytone to put a shoulder strap in because they say it is not safety tested.

We have found that due to the angle of the seat belt receiver, a child safety seat cannot be adequately immobilized in either outboard second row position. I am an ex-NHTSA car safety seat technician, and know how to install very well. Short of using a latch kit (which we are now using), there is no other way to prevent side to side movement of the child seat.

I own a 2001 Chevrolet Venture warner brothers edition minivan. In the past nine months the seatbelt from the first seat in the second row has gotten stuck in the sliding door, causing the door to be jammed shut. My concern is it could be clothing or fingers or toes next time. In order to get the door open it had to be taken to a repair shop and pried out. This sliding door is suppose to stop and reopen when an object is in its path. Please look into this matter as I have five small children and I carpool with more. Thank you.
The center rear lap seatbelt is not long enough for a rear facing car seat. Please provide further information and VIN#.
