Tire Sidewall Problems of Chevrolet Venture

Firestone tire had a inside sidewall bowout. Model number fr680 size p215/70r15.

The front left high performance tire developed a huge bubble on one side. Dealer claimed that a cut was made on the inside of the tire.

While traveling on highway at 70 mph we had a sidewall blow out on the right rear tire. Firestone fr680 p215/70r15 tires were installed on April 29, 2003 and had less than 5,000 miles at time of blow out. Checked tire pressure previous Saturday and all were ok. Also checked tire pressure on other 3 tires after blow out and all were ok. The incident occurred at 10:00 p. M. While driving on I-75 north down a 4% grade. Fortunately we didn't have an accident. We had our four kids in the car ages 10 and under. Needless to say we don't feel very safe driving on these tires.

Driving south on I-5, at approx 70mph, rear tires went flat. First, rear passenger tire blew to shreds and sidewall separated. Car started to fishtail and rear, driver side, tire went flat, probably rolled off of the rim. Dealership looked at tires and confirmed that tire is defective, damage not caused by road hazard. Have not yet submitted problem to firestone. In process of filing claim. Currently have possession of all four tires. Replaced all original tires 'cause wife is afraid to drive van.

Bulge in sidewall parallel and same size as the "f" next to firestone name on tire. Inspection revealed that sidewall had separated. (dot number: bcb3301 tiresize: p215/70r15).

While traveling approximately 55 mph in a 1999, Chevrolet, Venture right rear firestone tire, size: p215/70r15, dot: unknown experienced a blowout in sidewall. Nlm.

All 4 tires on my 1999 Chevrolet Venture had cracking around the sidewall at the rim and just below the tread. When shown to a mechanic and a tire dealer they both agreed with me that it was the begining signs of side wall and or tread seperation. This was first noticed with only 28000 miles on the tires. Replacing the tires at 31278 miles was the only safe thing I could do. This model tire was suposed to have more than 40000 mile tread life. The tread is still exceptable and the tire dealer said they would have lasted another 10 to 15 thousand miles. I could not risk my families life knowing they could come apart at any time. With all tire makers having the tread seperation problem maybe it is time to have the government inforce the safty requirernments in the current laws. The manufacturers will always put the minumum materials in to the products to gain the most profit. If the vehical would cost another $100 dollars per tire it would not change most peoples mind about buying it. I saw 6 other complaints about this model tire failing and think you should have another investigation to start soon. (tiresize: p215/70r15).

Was traveling 75mph when vehicle started vibrating. Lost control of vehicle for short while. Was going sideways. Finally, was able to stop and turn it off. Checked it out.
