I was traveling on I-95 northbound on tueday, March 22nd near the hastings, florida exit. The tread on the lemans tire, p215/70r15 completely separated from the tire, the Chevrolet Venture van veered to the right, narrowly missing another vehicle. The tread was recovered, and saved, but it smashed the hoses that connect to the rear a/c compressor and also damaged my bumper ripping several bolts out. The man from aaa who changed my tire was amazed that I did not roll the van. He noticed fluid leaking out and checked to see if the gas tank was leaking. It was not. He thought it was either brake fluid or compressor freon. I did not hit any debris in the road and was going the speed limit of 65 mph. The tire pressure was 32 psi. The dot number on the tire is hym3 ltb 4100. There is also another code on the tire q09l. I will attept to go to the firestone dealer and see about repairs. After reading many firestone complaints on your web site, it seems to me that firestone dealers are trained to say that tread separation is caused by hitting debris so the don't have to pay for damage. I will let you know of my experiece with firestone franchise at 10553 san jose blvd, jacksonville florida 32258.

I have firestone p215-70r15, fr680 tires on my 97 chevy Venture van. The tires have around 50k on them. Still plenty of tread. Two months ago a 5 inch piece of the right front tire ripped off the tire. Knowing about the tire problem I contacted firestone and they sent me to their "service center" where he told me that it was my fault no the tires. Two weeks later on a trip to orlando a 9 inch piece of tire ripped of my left front tire. Needing a tire I also replaced that one. The straw that broke the camels back is on Saturday 5. 15 my wife and one year old twin girls were driving down the highway to gainsville, FL and the "whole" tread on the back left tire ripped off. Only by the grace of god did she keep control of the van and got off the highway. The police officer that helped her said she was very luckly to not have been in an accident. The tire tread messed up the side of the van and tore off part of the back bumper.

I have 4 original firestone tires [fr680] p215/70/r15 tires that have splits in side walls by tread areas, and they also have bulges in sidewall areas. Only 25000 mi. On them. I feel that I need to replace them before we have a major blow out and accident by these visible problems. With 3 children I cannot afford an accident caused by these tires. I will be keeping old tires . I went on the web sight and saw that similar problems are happening to other people???.

During normal driving conditions (no rain, snow, hazards) our right rear tire failed. The tread completely separated from the tire destroying the rim abs harness cable and other for a total of 2000. 00 damage. No injuries. The tires have very little wear (9000 miles). I immediately replaced all the tires with another brand. The catastrophic failure of the tire concerns me and believe the tire to be faulty. I would like to have the tire analized by an independent lab to let and to give their opinion of why the tire failed. Is there a indiependent investigation lab in my area who could assist me with this problem? I'd appreciate your response. (dot number: w2mb3bcb08 tiresize: 21570r1597).
