The Chrysler 200 will stall out of the blue and the engine will completely shut off. It has happened 3 times within the past month. It always happens when you let up on the accelerator. All the times it happened was while in the city. It happens while always in drive and on the road. 3 times had to get it towed. And every time after we got it home it would start up like nothing happened. Please help. Its very frustrating.
The vehicle stalls while driving. This is a very dangerous situation as 3 times it has stalled at 50 +mph and this has occurred on the highway. Another stall occurred on a curvy state road on a bend with no shoulder. No warning light of error code has been produced by the vehicle.

76 year old male 73 year old handy cap wife car stalled twice yesterday called Chrysler they said no warrenty they do not have a fix will call lawer if it happens again.
In 3 weeks time the car stalled midway in the highway while driving as if it were going to turn off. I took it in for repairs and it was the shock plugs. Then the brakes were not working. I took the car to replace all four brakes. A day later the battery light came on. After driving my son to school the car pulled back and shook and shut down. I took it back in for repairs and it was the alternator. Today the windshield wipers froze midway. This is the most unsafe car and all should be recalled in general.
So my car has stalled over 10 times since 2018 since it has died my insurance company will no longer come until I get this fixed . While driving on freeway and busy road while accelerating my rpms will drop to zero and I will loose power steering. If I'm lucky enough to get to the side of the road I have to turn my car off wait 45 mins to restart car will not turn over. I have done an electrical diagnostics and nothing comes up.
This doesn't happen every time I drive the car. As I'm slowing up to turn, or coming up on a stop sign or red light, the car tends to start stalling. If I put the car in neutral before stepping on the breaks, it doesn't do it. But if I don't put the car in neutral it will stall & the rpm will drop to 0 & the car will cut off.
My vehicle battery light came on after getting a new battery. Then driving one day on street it just stalled out. It started up after 2 mins. Parked it about 1/2 an hour it started right back up only to stall again 2 more times both on street in heavy traffic. I got a alert oil change required (walmart) changed the oil made it home later went back out for the car to stall again same busy street, it started about 4 mins later, made it home didn't move it couple days. Mechanic put it on diagnostic said I needed alternator still stalling after new alternator. Haven't had the car a month! battery light still on after new alternator as well.
The engine light comes on and then the electrical light; the car has stalled while in park; yesterday the car stalled while in drive, acceleration would not work and the car stalled while in the middle of the road; after turning off for a minute; it restarted; but the lights are still on indicating a problem; this is a very dangerous defect; I have read others have had this problem and it is being investigated; why is there not a recall on this safety issue?.

Our 2011 Chrysler 200 has about 8000 miles and has been stalling, surging idle speeds when stopped, and downshifting hard (jolting) for the last 2000 miles or so. Tomorrow is the first time taking it in specifically for this reason after having the dealer annotate these symptoms during the last oil change. It is not save to have a car's idle jump while at a stop light or intersection nor is it safe to have a car stall out when slowing down. Furthermore, it's a brand new car so this is completely unacceptable to pay for a defective product. If it does not get fixed I will be contacting my insurance company to let them know what is going on as I am fearful that one of these lunges will result in a crash.

Jolting while shifting gears, engine light on, for no reason. Taken to dealer. First time, was told this is normal. Vehicle getting used to my driving patterns. 2nd time, engine light came on, stayed on over 24 hours on a non dealer business day (easter) 4/8/2012. Jolted, stalled, jerking during the day on 4/8/2012 morning of 4/9/2012, light was still on, called the dealer. Asked to bring it in, they will try to duplicate the issue. This is a really scary and unsafe feeling, brand new cars should not do this. Engine has idled very poorly, it came close but the engine didn't die. Something is wrong with this car. Has happened multiple times.

Since purchasing this vehicle on 12/26/2011, the vehicle has stalled, completely turned off 3 different times while stopped at an intersection waiting for a traffic light to change. In all three instances, I had to put the vehicle in park and it restarted. I feel that this is dangerous and seems to be related to NHTSA action number pe12016. I am going to take it to the dealer but before I did, I wanted to see if other owners were having the same problem or if anything had been recalled when I discovered the numerous complaints.
