Passenger side heater stopped working. Vehicle turns off while in drive and moving.
Appears to be a common issue in 2012 which Chrysler has known about. No heat/ defrost on passenger side apparently caused by engine block manufacturing process fluids mixing with antifreeze causing a blockage in heater core. If they knew, then there should have been a recall, instead of profiting on the repairs needed to correct.

I have talked to several people with Chrysler 200 and the all have faulty heater core.
No heat/ defrost passenger side. Will not clear frost/ fog on passenger side windshield. Apparent known problem with sludge build up in heater core allegedly caused by component in coolant.
Passenger side pushes out cold air, terrible to drive in and uncomfortable. Battery has been replaced 4 times in the last 2 years. Alternator as well. While driving to work, my windshield frosted over from being so cold and I had to veer off the road to avoid getting into an accident.
I bought my 2012 Chrysler 200 in 2013. I 've had a recurring problem with the engine running hot because some malfunction prevents the coolant from circulating through the engine. I have spent over $2000. 00 trying to fix this problem and now my mechanic tells me the engine is no good and I'll need a new one. This happens when I'm driving. The car would run hot, I'd tow it in and my mechanic would fix it. And within a month or two, the problem would occur again. My mechanic ran diagnostics, he rebooted the computer systems and he gets the coolant flowing again but within weeks or a month the same problem reoccurs. I don't drive far to work approx. 10 miles daily commute. I may take a road trip on occasion but there is no unusual wear or tear on the vehicle. Im reporting this problem Aug 2016 but this has been a recurring issue over the years and the car is just for years old. I bought it used in 2013. I've spent so much money fixing the same problem and the car's problem always seems resolved until a few months down the road I have to fix it again. I haven't even paid the car off and its kaput and ready for the graveyard? this really is something Chrysler needs to step up to the plate and fix. I need a new engine now and I've already spent over $2000. 00 trying to fix this issue.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. While driving 40 mph, the electronic throttle control light illuminated. The vehicle slowed to 20 mph and went into limp mode. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the electronic throttle control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,200.
I own a 2012 Chrysler 200, the engine stops/fails about every two months while braking or while stopped. This is dangerous as it can stop anywhere and they might rear end the car or something. I have taken my car to the Chrysler dealership 4 different times with the same issue, the first time they changed the pcm. After about 2 months the car's engine stopped while braking or while at a stoplight. The 2nd and 3rd time I took the car they did not find anything wrong with the car and gave it to me after a couple of days. The 4th time when I took the car they said that it was the battery and they put in a new battery. Well about 2 days ago the car stopped again while at a stoplight. I have not taken the car to the dealership as they never find anything wrong with the vehicle. I am tired of them not finding what is wrong with the car. I believe that I speak for many Chrysler 200 owners when I say that an investigation needs to be done for the whole Chrysler group, especially to the 200, which have many complaints online and none one seems to find the solution. Please investigate this for the safety of the drivers. I am so sick and tired of the mopar mechanics not finding anything. I do not know if the issue is with the pcm, computer, or engine. Please investigate.
While accelerating after crossing a busy state highway the car "jerked" and the malfunction indicator light came on. ( prior to this I was idling at a stop sign and I proceeded straight across the road. ) I was in the process of immediately moving to the side of the road when the car lost all power and shut itself off. I did not initially try to restart the car but once I returned to it in a couple of hours I was able to start the engine. The indicator light remained on. I did not drive the vehicle but had it towed to a service station. The car has less than 80. 000 miles.
I purchased my 2012 Chrysler 200 in 2013. After driving my 200 for a couple years,I notice in the wintertime ,the right side of the windshield was very slow to defrost. Fast forward to 2017 I notice the passenger side was blowing cold air,the driver side was slightly warm. After doing a little research I found that the Chrysler has problems with 2012 model heater cores. Chrysler needs to recalled this model year due to the fact there is not enough heat to defrost the windshield.
Submitted a complaint where I inadvertently listed my vehicle as a 2015 Chrysler 200. My car is a 2012 Chrysler 200. Could you change my previous complaint of this same date to reflect a 2012 Chrysler 200.
While driving, the car began to rapidly lose functionality while warning lights were appearing on the dashboard until it abruptly shut down while driving in traffic. The time from no warning lights to complete loss of functionality was approximately 10-15 seconds. The shut down included an abrupt loss of power steering and braking capabilities while driving on a busy street at night. I was able to quickly compensate for the loss of power steering and braking and stop the vehicle while avoiding a crash, but just barely. Thankfully, I broke down next to two police officers who helped push my vehicle onto the side of the road. These officers may be able to attest to the fact that no noises or abnormal operation of the vehicle was apparent before the abrupt shut-off while driving. Attempts to restart the vehicle involved no clicking or the engine attempting to turn over. The vehicle is currently being repaired, but the preliminary diagnosis is one of a faulty alternator. I will attempt to retain the faulty alternator from the repair center. I had only started the car 2-3 minutes before the incident and there were no apparent electrical issues (engine struggling to start, lights dimming, etc. ) while starting the car or during operation.
I was driving along that morning into work when my battery light came on. I then proceeded to call around to find out what was going on. Later that afternoon my car complete stopped working and was "freaking out" on me while I was driving. After coming to the conclusion that it was not my battery that died, it was my alternator that stopped working. Now my vehicle is sitting in the front of my house not wanting to start up.
2012 Chrysler 200 shut off while driving 45 mph down the hwy with 2 children in the car. I lost power steering and my brakes. Luckily, I made it to the side of the road. It restarted once I turned the key to off first, but shut off on me a second time while idling a few minutes later. I have not driven it since.
Today, while on the interstate traveling at 60mph, attempted to accelerate and car would not accelerate. Could hear the engine trying to accelerate but the car kept slowing down. Did not see any lights (engine) light up on the dash to indicate a problem. Pulled into emergency lane, stopped and turned engine off; restarted car and it has not occurred again today.
Shifted the vehicle into reverse, when the vehicle is then put into drive there is a loud bang.
Entering freeway was accelerating, merged into a lane and took foot off of the accelerator and the car rpms kept climbing and speed kept increasing within 10 seconds it stops and will respond normally usually happens when there is a quick attempt to accelerate.
In traffic, steering wheel tightened up and all interior lights were off. Tried to brake but no response, shifted into neutral restarted the car and it turned back on. Seemed to mess up the shifter a little in the process, as well as almost hitting the car in front of me. Probably going about 10-15 mph, and I was lucky to throw the car in neutral and restart otherwise I would of floated into an accident.
As I was driving my car it just stop running, there was no warning lights or nothing came on the car just stop. Then it would not start back up until the next day when it was at the dealership. They check the car out and they could not find anything wrong with the car. This is not the first time this happen and they still can not find out why the car is stopping. Then the lights came on the dash board and I took the car back to the dealer ship and they still could not figure out why they came on because the computer did not report that any lights came on. Then they keep my car over the weekend and they said the car ran fine even though they know the car did stop but since the computer couldn't tell them that there was something wrong with the car there is nothing that they can do. This is a very unsafe car. . I wish I know this before I brought this car. . .
I bought this car use with 27,000 mile on it. I have only had the car for 45 days or so. My car is jumping forward when I come to a stop. At first the lurching was very faint now at 31,000 miles the lurching is more pronounced. I took the car to the dealership prior to the warranty ending and they acted like they where unaware of the issue/or didn't understand the issue. Any way I am beginning to feel unsafe since it is happening more. The car lurched forward during a sudden stop one time, not good.
First time car wouldn't start. Dealership charged battery and did software update. Second time car wouldn't start they replaced battery. Third time car wouldn't start battery completely drained they said it was a glove box switch. Fourth time car wouldn't start they said it was the usb cable keeping the radio powered on all the time. Same Chrysler dealership worked on it all four times. Brand new car bought August of 2012. All four times have been in less than two months! this car is not safe. Chrysler is not doing the right thing by their customers! any help would be appreciated. In the USA we should not have to put up with being ripped off like this.
I was driving my new Chrysler 200 3. 6l approximately 25-30 mph pressed the gas pedal and had no response. Engine was dead, the steering locked-up causing the vehicle to pull right running off the road. Fortunately, my two children and myself were not harmed. I am extremely disappointed/angry that my children were put into this situation. I believe this is a an unsafe vehicle and investigation should take place.
"takata recall" when it is cold the defrost won't work and the passenger side of the car is extremely cold.
On April 26, 2012, I purchased a brand new 2012 Chrysler from an official Chrysler corporation dealership. Since then this car has been put in the shop approximately 30 times for from medium to major problems. The 1st major problem was 9/26/212 which was diagnosed as gear-rack and pinon. It has had two lifters(relative to the motor) because of loud tapping. Three heater cords; a couple of re-calls;transmissions leaks; internal engine damages; headlamps needed immediate replacements; washer fluid tank leaked and needed immediate replacement; the car horn failed to blow on demand; brakes needed immediate replacements; camshaft, rockers had to be replaced twice; heater cord experienced internal failure and had to be replaced; brake pads; brake light (dashboard) has been beeping on since 2013 and is still doing the same thing today; engine air filter had to be replaced; and a host of other vehicle problems that should not be happening on a brand spanking new 2012 vehicle!! please assist and advise.
This car was bought for advertised miles per gallon (mpg) was 31mpg, but on the highway it is only getting about 15mpg. This car is either defective or Chrysler has embarked on major false advertising or fraud campaign in which millions of people bought this car thinking they would get 31mpg, but are paying twice as much in gas instead of saving money. If you think you are getting 31mpg on highway, but only get 15mpg, that means you run out of gas on the highway and an accident can occur either while the car is slowing down in the lane, or after it is pushed into shoulder, which is still dangerous. There are hundreds of reviews on the internet with same problem - not getting gas mileage. Please force Chrysler to take back these cars because it is either false advertising and consumer fraud for advertising 31mpg, or defective for failing to be efficient with gas mileage since they are not getting the performance these cars were supposedly manufactured & designed for. There are also unknown problems with transmission and engine. I'm taking car to dealership today to investigate/service, but I was told by the sales manager, they would not take the car back and give me a new car. It has all these problems, costing me money and possible injury due to the prospect of running out of gas so frequently! the gas tank size is 16. 9 gallons, so at 31mpg, I should get close to 523 miles, but we only get about 250! we fill up gas tank every week, after only driving 36 miles roundtrip to/from work, mostly on highway. I believe we are being defrauded by being sold defective cars that do not perform as advertised, and which can cause injury as a result. I shouldnt be stuck with this car, paying excessive gas prices due to constantly refilling a gas tank, because this car burns up all the gas so fast! is it a defect or consumer fraud? I want this car recalled, and I want my money back!.
Took car in to dealership years ago to have head rest and airbags fixed. Received a notice by inputting my VIN that these fixes were incomplete . Also discovered that the 3. 6 pentastar engine from the factory had substandard engine bearings which could result in the engine seizure and the remedy was for the factory to replace the engine. My 2012 Chrysler 200 was manufactured during this time frame, yet was never notified by the manufacturer of this dangerous condition.
Heater and defroster fail on passenger side of vehicle. This causes the driver to not be able to see. The cause of this failure is do to faulty fluid/design by Chrysler. This is a major safety issues.
