My son was in a car accident, he went off of the road, and totaled my car, the airbags did not deploy. I bought this car brand new in Jan,2015, and had a couple of recalls to get it fixed for certain parts. Also I was having surge problems with this car.

2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Reporting as a repair shop. The referenced vehicle arrived with a complaint of air bag light on. Found a TSB (see photos)requiring replacement of both front seat wiring harnesses due to open circuit in side curtain airbag deployment squib. This issue can cause side airbags not to deploy in a crash. Not only is this a costly repair it is not covered by any Chrysler recall or warranty and does present a safety concern for owners of the affected vehicles.

3 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

We are a repair shop reporting this issue. The referenced vehicle arrived with a complaint of the airbag light on. Tech found trouble code b0020-13(left side seat deployment squib 1- circuit open)stored in airbag module. Tech also found a TSB (see photos)requiring replacement of both front seat complete airbag wiring harnesses with an updated version. The existing condition can cause the side curtain airbags to not deploy in event of a crash. Chrysler has not issued a recall or offered any warranty extension on this known problem that effects 201- 2017 Jeep cherokees and 2015- 2017 Chrysler 200s. It is our feeling that this known condition presents a serious safety concern to owners of the affected vehicles, and is an extremely costly repair for a safety concern that should not fall on the shoulder of the consumer.

5 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2018

My takata recall is to say that my car was involved in an accident and the airbags did not fully deploy but it smelled as if they did and my car indicated my air bags deployed but they did not. My seatbelts are now stuck and I'm not sure if the bags will deploy later or not.

6 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2018

Airbag light comes on intermittently. Dealer says that when the light is on, the airbags will not deploy. Dealer says that Chrysler is aware of the problem and that fixing it would cost $2,900, but that Chrysler also can do and "overlay" (I don't know what that is) for $165 per seat that might make the problem go away, but the only guaranteed fix is the $2,900 option. Obviously the $2,900 option is cost prohibitive so after we went with the $165 option, the problem still remains.

7 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2018

I have been advised that I currently do not have airbags that will deploy in a wreck due to needing a new oc module and passenger airbag. My car only has 60k miles and no airbags. I have been advised that the repair is over $1,000. 00. How is this not a defect/recall when airbags have never been deployed on my vehicle? how is this safe to sell cars that have airbag defects without recalls?.

8 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2018

My vehicle rear ended a stopped pick up truck at approximately 35-40mph. Prior to and during the accident, the forward collision warning didn't activate in time to help stop the car as well as the air bags never deployed throughout the accident.

9 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2017

On November 29, 2017 at approximately 5:15 pm, was driving approximately 25mph in traffic on a two lane. I hit the brake to stop, no brakes, and I hit the person in front of me. After hitting them, I bounced off and continued to move with no brakes. My airbags did not deploy and I sustained injuries to me chest, neck, head and back. I was able to steer the car in the right side lane and eventually was able to steer into a parking lot; still with no brakes. I looked down to pull up the emergency brake and saw the shifter in neutral. I then put the shifter in park and the car finally stopped. I do not yet have the police report. I did not receive a ticket, but was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

10 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2017

My airbag service light came on while driving down a local street with no warning. The car has never been in an accident, I purchased the car new (with 6 miles), I searched if there was a recall for this issue, however, the NHTSA website only site 78 vehicles affected in the recall. I checked and my car was not included. This issue should be resolved for fear the airbags will deploy while simply driving down the highway, or even worse, the airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident.

11 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2017

Takata recall February 2017, I was sitting in the driveway of my moms house when I hear a ringing noise in my car, the car wasn't moving; it was turned on and parked. It appeared on my dash and said service air bag sensor. The light stayed on and never went off. I called the dealership and they told me there was no recall on it so there was nothing they could do for me unless I paid the $200 to get it looked at and fixed. A friend of ours drove our car and ended up getting into an accident. He rear ended a police officer and the air bags never deployed, prior to the accident, the sensor light was already on. Which is a major concern for me. The whole front end of my car was damaged and needs completely repaired along with the other vehicles rear end.

15 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2016

My Chrysler 200 had been recalled mid 2015 for a glitch in their computer system that required all Chrysler, Dodge, ram, and fiat vehicles with the 8. 4 screen to have a chip sent out and installed by self to update and instill security to those cars. In January of 2016 I was involved in a collision in my Chrysler 200. My entire front end was knocked off as I was awaiting a turn in a center lane on a city street. My engine dropped and all fluids were expelled from this vehicle, my air bags did not deploy. When I called concerned about it I was told that my vehicle was tested with a hand device in a junk yard and that I had not been hit hard enough or in the right place for them to deploy. I could not believe due to the force and damage done but was still told by a Chrysler representative that there was no malfunction with the air bags. The car was a total loss but was resold to a dealership in cincinnati, OH and put up for sale. I am still receiving notifications about the car due to uconnect and is very concerned about this same vehicle being sold and put on the road.
