Service airbag system my car doesn’t start.
My airbag sensor has randomly come on and off for about 2 years, it sense cut off and stayed off up until recently in early 2025 the “service passenger airbag” sensor comes on and stays on which affects the ability to pass a state inspection in virginia.
Vehicle has 46,000 miles on odometer. A year ago the "service airbag system" light would intermittently illuminate. It is now staying lit all the time. I was speaking with an acquaintance as they had the same vehicle. Theirs caught on fire under the seat in the electrical connection box for the airbag. I took it to a few of our local mechanics and they say it is a substantial safety issue as they pulled the codes b0028-13 and b0020-13. Right side and left side seat deployment squib circuit open. The airbags will not deploy upon impact. The consensus from the mechanics was that Chrysler has known this is a common problem in these vehicles and needs to address the repair. After calling Chrysler and finding out they do know this is a problem in design it will still cost $4000. 00 to repair as it's not covered under warranty. This vehicle is unsafe and it makes me wonder how many people are driving these vehicles not knowing the potential danger. It will be going to the dealership when one of them can "fit me in".
The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated, and the message "service air bag" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure might be a factory defect; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
Air bag light comes on. We have had it checked by 3 different technicians. They have found that it is an issue with the control module, and seat squibs need to be replaced. This is a $4000 issue that is directly related to the safety of the driver of the car. They said it looks to be a manufacturing issue but unfortunately is not covered by the extended warranty that we purchased.
My air bag light has been flickering on and off for quite some time now. I’ve taken it to a professional mechanic as well as gerber and they have both fixed the issue by unplugging and replugging the harness underneath the passenger seat. I was told this issue with this type of Chrysler has been brought by the shop numerous times and I may have missed a recall repair on this vehicle. I have repeated this method numerous of times but at this point it is an inconvenience and safety issue. How am I able to receive a recall notice to get this issue fixed? I can be contacted via email [xxx] . Respectfully, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The airbag service light keeps coming on. There has been no accidents to this vehicle. There was a airbag safety recall on Chrysler 2016, but when I contacted Chrysler, they said my vehicle fell out of the date range that they assigned the recall to it was manufactured before a certain date reference number 90517639. Chrysler should be responsible to ensure that buyers are safe in their vehicles and they need to help get this issue corrected.
B0028-13 is the code that appears when a scanner tool is used because the "service airbag system" warning message came on. Reading the other u-tube post concerning this problem it seems to be common and a possible danger to the driver and the front passenger.
Electrical system under the seats smoked and went out for the air bags. Cost me $2,200 dollars out of pocket. I am on social security. Can't afford such dept. Brakes are sluggish and can't be trusted to stop quickly. Power train ,electrical system, engine not safe. Electrical system, service brakes, forward collision avoidance system needs to be looked at and replace if needed.
I was unable to stop fast enough and went through a red light and t boned another car. My airbags failed to go off. Everyone, including the police officer was shocked that they did not deploy.
I was crossing over and intersection and another lady was speeding playing on her phone and didn't realize she had a stop sign and hit me directly in the driver side door she was driving a 2007 chevy tahoe SUV as well my car was deemed a total loss and not one of my air bags came out.
Airbag light has came on with dealership replacing the wiring harness under the seat twice. The light is now on for a third time. After online forum research, I learned that wiggling the wiring connections can get the connection back and airbag light to go away. It worked. Numerous complaints of loose wiring. Purchased the vehicle brand new currently with 125k miles. First repair was free. Second was out of warranty and I had to pay for parts.
My car only has 24,778 miles on it and a message came up " service airbag system" the dealership says that it will be around $1500 to fix. Is this still under warranty?.
My car gave me a service airbag message when I started it on July 31st. I already had an appointment scheduled with a Chrysler dealer to resolve an unrelated recall issue, so I asked them to look into what was causing the airbag issue, as well. They told me that the jumper wiring needed to be replaced on both sides of the vehicle in order to resolve diagnostic code b0020-13. They quoted me over $2,800. 00 to fix the issue and told me that my airbags would not go off if I were to get in an accident unless the repairs were made. I am unable to afford this, so I contacted fha customer service to seek cost assistance, but was told my car is too far out of warranty. My car only has 78,000 miles, so I should not have any safety issues with it. I was told by the technician that this is a common problem with my vehicle. Seeing as this is a safety issue and it is a common issue, I believe it is worth investigating to determine if it is caused by a manufacturing defect. I, like most people, cannot afford this costly of a repair, so I am putting my life at risk each time I drive my car, which I now know will not deploy the safety bags if I get in an accident. To make matters worse, I had to pay a $150. 00 diagnostics fee just to find this out.
Purchased this used 2016 Chrysler 200 from dan derry in cedar falls. The next day my son was driving this car the air bag light came on. Contacted dealer and they were not aware of any air bag issues with this car and told us we bought as is. From what I am reading on line Chrysler has know about this for some time. I see this has a huge safety issue that sounds like it is pretty expensive to fix. And even the people that have forked over the money to fix are still having issues. Took this to our mechanic and they are suggesting to take to dealer as there is a TSB on this issue. Not sure why a safety issue that has nothing to do with how the car is driven but how it was manufactured ends up being the responsibility of the sucker that bought the used car off a dealers lot.
The airbag light comes on constantly, it puts myself or anyone who is in my car at risk. It says to check the airbag and the wiring under the seat is the problem. It's loose. I constantly have to wiggle it for it to go away and a dealership wants to charge 300 dollars for a diagnosis and repair. If I crash, I feel as if the airbag will not deploy and it seems a lot of people online have the same issue when googling the problems.
My service airbag light comes on and off frequently. Sometimes it'll be on when I start my car, and the it'll turn off again when I make a turn, adjust my seat, etc. Its a strong belief that im having the underseat wire harness issue that many others are having. I have yet to take it to a mechanic to have it looked at as I don't readily have the money to repair an issue, especially considering I've seen a few people say they have this issue addressed repeatedly. This is a major safety concern and I fear if I happen to get into an accident that my airbag will not deploy because of it.
Blower motor resistor fails causing heat to stop working causing check engine light. The car was making a raddling sound than the heat shut off the car was stopped.
Wire connector under the passenger seat disables the airbag and turns on the srs light with the code b0028-13 right side airbag circuit open. I have noticed that fca is aware of the problem as the fix is to replace the wire connectors under the seat. As an alignment mechanic I am in and out of a lot of vehicles and just about all of the 2015 to 2017 Chrysler 200s I have worked on have this code, some also have b0020-13 which is the left side seat air bag circuit open.
Took the car to the dealership to fix airbag they say they fixed but every time it was never fixed and the last time the dealership even keep my car for three days.
My car was working perfectly fine until I left work today. My check engine light came on as soon as I started my car and it kept saying check parking brake and check airbags I couldn't put my car in drive or reverse, it wouldn't go anywhere. Possibly because the parking brake wouldn't let me drive. Very strange, as it was sudden and unexpected. . . . Have never had a problem with parking brake or airbags.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, got hit by a vehicle coming out of an alleyway. None of the frontal air bags deployed. The police was present and a report number: 2019077493 was filed. The vehicle was not towed. Driven to the residence. The contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Treated for heat and neck pain and release. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000. Bp.
After having the front passenger seat wiring harness replaced, the service air bag notification is once again reoccurring on this vehicle. The code is again indicating an issue with the passenger seat wiring. This problem appears to be quite common with 2015/2016 Chrysler 200s!.
Takata recall for about a week now my "service airbag system" light has been coming on and off inconsistently. It first came on on 5/15/2019. This was when I was driving about 30 mph. After I turned my vehicle off and turned it back on the light did not return. Now the light has been popping up every now and then, usually when I slow down or stop my car completely. I do not have any passengers that drive in my vehicle, only little ones that ride in the back seat. I do not have items that sit in the front passenger seat either. After researching there was a airbag recall on prior models not sure if this could be related. Since the first incident now every time I drive my car (which has been almost every day since) the light has been on. Please advise.
Poor connection at harness under passenger seat, service air bag system warning comes on and to fix issue I must disconnect the airbag wiring harness under the passenger seat, add some dielectric grease and reconnect. This must be done every 3 months.
Tamara recall I was hit in the front and side drivers and not one of my air bags went off from the impact. I was forced by the other car into a curb. Lights would flicker constantly even after battery was changed twice. From the cause of the accident I have had major injuries sustained.
Engine was rebuilt/parts replaced within 6 weeks of owing the vehicle. Vehicle was returned again for sudden shock when exceeding 45 mph while driving. Today 3/20/19 was informed airbag is defective but not covered under warranty. Vehicle is skipping again at 45+ mph.
A code came up for the passenger side seat squib. Shop found a related TSB but will require diagnostic and possibly disassembling the front seats. Also noted there are multiple modules that need updates.
Dtc b002813 circuit open had to remove passenger seat, disassemble, install updated wiring harness, etc. Cost $1,800 to repair. Complaint - this extensive repair should not have been needed for the age and mileage of the car. We feel that a recall should be issued for this problem. Why is this car designed in a way that the repair for this problem must be this extensive. Very displeased with Chrysler design.
Takata recall, air bag icon stays on. Gas cap icon stays on. Upon cruse control, to continue at the previous speed on incline , the brakes and dash lights began to flash. Pulled over turned car off and started back up as k was driving on the interstate.
Service air bag system and service parking brake notifications appeared as well as the check engine light car would not shift, the screen went in and out while the vehicle loss power and wouldn't move. The transmission just reved this car has major issues all of this happed while driving.
While driving the vehicle at around 30 mph the service airbag system and service parking brake system notifications came on along with the check engine light and traction control disabling. As that happened my touchscreen in the vehicle went in and out and the car became hesitant to accelerate. I pulled over and tried to set the parking brake and then release it afterwards the car really became hard to move. Transmission just reved and the car eventually started accelerating.
At times will not start . Engine dies while going down the highway. Transmission loses power then after resting it will go again then out of nowhere it stalls again.
On 10/12/18 was driving down a busy highway just started going down a hill and my car lost power and my gear shifter starting blinking in neutral, brake pedal and gas pedal was stuck and push to start would not work for me to restart my car after a few tries I was able to get to turn off and took a couple tries to get it to turn back on. I was stalled and had cars dodging me and swerving in other lanes when they were topping the hill. I went to my dealership and they wasn't able to look at that day and told me they could probably get to it the next following week. While I was driving to the dealership to drop it off with the service department I was at a stop sign stopped with my foot on the brake and it decides to take off on it's on and I had to smash the brakes several times to make it stop in order to not hit another vehicle. It was a pretty traumatic experience for me as I have always took care of that car since I have had it. I never had a recall for my vehicle either. My engine would also skip a few times while driving to my dealership. I have also never had any work done to my vehicle mechanically beside oil changes on a regular basis.
Airbags system malfunctioning, the car is indicating needs service for airbags system failure. This is a major risk for the safety of any driver. This issue has been reported to Chrysler. Thousands of cases in which Chrysler 200 from year 2015 to 2018 have a malfunction hazardous airbag system. Failure to deploy upon vehicle impact. Warning indication of system failure is a common problem and needs a safety recall. The manufacturer should recall these vehicles. It is unlawful for these vehicles not to operate a proper airbag system.
