I've been into the service department over 6 times for the same issues. This car is so unsafe to drive. I believe this is a transmission issue. My car creates a very hard jerking when switching gears or speeding up. It also shakes when the air conditioning is on and I am only getting about 15 mi to the gallon when it should be 27. I've left multiple complaints since I have had this vehicle, worked with the device department, worked with Chrysler and the situation and safety concern is still not rectified. Please look into this. It's my only transportation and I would like to keep myself, my 3 babies, and other drivers safe. Thank you!.

Conducted pre-trip safety inspection of the vehicle. All lights, mirrors, gauges, and safety belts appeared to be in good working order. There were no active warning lights, fuel level was approximately , and odometer log was accurate. The vehicle showed no signs of mechanical defects to include vibrations, unusual noises, or odors during initial operation. The vehicle was relatively clean inside and out. The only unusual detail we noticed was the presence of several ticks (parasites) inside the vehicle. 0900: arrived on site at blue springs lake and parked the vehicle on a gravel road with other gov vehicles. 1000: drove vehicle approximately three miles to a gas station to use restroom and returned to worksite. The vehicle, once again, failed to exhibited any abnormalities. 1315: left worksite traveling eastbound on hwy 40 at 55 mph. All four windows were up with ac on full. Ambient temperature was approximately 90f. 1320: slowed to approximately 35mph as we approached a red light. I noticed white smoke in the rearview mirror. We came to a complete stop at the light and observed white and black smoke coming from under the hood. I immediately turned off the air conditioner and checked the temperature gauge (25% of max). I pulled into the right turn lane and drove approximately 50 feet to an empty parking lot. We exited the vehicle and observed orange flames underneath the engine compartment. I instructed mr. Baker to call 911 and report the fire along with our location. I searched for a fire extinguisher under the seats and in the trunk without success. A few seconds later a good samaritan in a work truck stopped and knocked down the flames with his fire extinguisher. Mileage = 42,351.
When I turn on the fan when using the heater or the air conditioner there is a noticeable clicking sound coming from the dash on the passenger side of the car. The sound at this time is lasting about 30 seconds or so then stops. This happens when driving or standing still.

2016 Chrysler 200. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle starting hard and rough, electrical issues and front passenger door shutting hard. The consumer stated the vehicle had multiple failures including the parking brake engaging on it's own, the accelerator pedal sticking, wiring systems, the air conditioner and transmission ruptured. The powertrain, control module, compressor, etc condenser was locked. The vehicle starts hard. There was a knocking noise on start up. The tire came off the vehicle while driving. While depressing the brake pedal the vehicle began to lurch forward. The lower ball joint failed. There was body a rim damage to the vehicle. The repair shop failed to repair the vehicle properly.
Smoke started coming out of the front window defroster air vent while driving. The air conditioner was on a low setting at the time and set on defrost.
31 days after purchasing my vehicle the blower for the heat and air conditioning began to sputter and work sporadically then completely quit a week or so later as a result an essentially new vehicle has no heatband no defrost which I've learned is dangerous when it's raining as I can't see out of the windshield. I believe this is am electrical issue not only because of the way the blower broke but sometimes the power windows will stop working then work again. Warning lights will flash on for no reason then disappear. The gas light will stay on long after gas has been put in the car do that I have to turn the completely off then back on to make it go away.

Since we have had it, our vehicle has given off a funny smell from the air conditioner. In the beginning, we assumed that it was because it was a new car. Then later, we assumed that it would eventually go away. However, it still has not gone away. Not every time, but definitely frequently, we experience a foul smell coming from the air conditioning system, something like mildew or something.
There is low heat output from the heater vents due to the heater core plugging up with "sludge" as Chrysler calls it. There is a Chrysler star technical assistance hotline case, number s1207000008 explaining heater core restriction due to sludge causing poor heater system performance. It is a well known problem with a large number of chrylser 200 and Dodge avengers which I am sure can be verified by Chrysler. I believe it should be a recall, or at least an extended warranty issue. The star case states to replace the heater core, radiator, radiator cap and reverse flush the entire system if the customer complaint can be verified by the technician, however it does not explain the actual cause of the sludge. The symptom first noticed is little or no heat on the passenger side of the vehicle, then progressively lower heat output the more plugged the heater core becomes as time goes on. I believe in cold climates this could also cause the windshield to stay iced over, or become iced over as you drive down the road due to wind chill factor of the vehicle speed. It could also be aggravated by the fact that the air conditioner runs with the heater on defrost ( to dry interior air in order to DE-fog the windshield in humid or rainy weather) which further cools the already cold air coming from the defroster vent if the heater core eventually becomes completely plugged. In hot climates, the heater core still plugs up, however the customer may never notice the symptoms. I also happen to be Chrysler academy master certified in all core curriculum, powertrain, electrical and chassis.
