I purchased my vehicle brand new in 2017 and started experiencing issues within the first year. The car has cut off multiple times while driving, without warning, in the middle of rush hour traffic. It also frequently stalls. I've taken my vehicle to 3 different dealerships in 2 different states at least 10 times. Two of the three dealerships claimed that the problem was some sort of fuse underneath the driver's seat. After the car continued to shut off without warning, I was told that it was due to low oil. I've called Chrysler's headquarters who has given me a free oil change package and instructed me to return to a dealership every 500 - 1000 miles for an oil consumption test. They know that the car is burning an unusual amount of oil which is a clear indication that there's a problem. Instead of issuing a recall, they continue to put lives in danger by giving them back their death trap of a car and instructing them to check and get frequent oil changes. I'm guessing their hope is to keep the oil changes going until the warranty runs out. Someone's going to lose their life or get seriously injured in these cars, I just pray that it's not me.

Starting in October 2018 this car has cut off on me for no reason at any given time. I will be driving and it will cut off and tell me to shift into park. Sometimes it cranks back up other times it doesnt. I have taken it to landmark Chrysler five different times. Each time I am told that it's a different problem. And each time the car does the exact same thing again. This has endangered my life and the life of my two year old son. After completing two different oil consumption test landmark(morrow,GA) still hasn't been able to diagnose the problem so the warranty company won't fix the car. They know that it's using too much oil but they claim they don't know why. This car is a safety hazard and nothing is being done about it. They just try to get you to trade it in for another car with a higher payment. This problem really needs to be investigated before it causes someone their life. I have been driving on major highways when this car has cut off with no warning and narrowly missed being hit by a semi truck. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler corporate but that has gotten me no where because the person I speak with (will in customer care) does nothing and claims that he doesn't have a supervisor that I can contact.
My oil was recently changed 2/28/2019, the oil is 3 months old and I've only drive 2,133 miles since. My car takes full synthetic oil and should last for 6,000 miles. I checked it today 6/12/2019 and my car tells me I have 66% left and I do not I need to get a oil changed even before hitting 3,000 miles because there is none left. I have had this issue happen 3/4 times within the last year and a half and I've only had the car for 2 years. A few months back I got this checked out by my mechanic and even a second mechanic, he told me that the pistons rings on my car are bad and is causing excessive oil consumption, there is no leak etc. So my car constantly runs out of oil before its time to change it and is causing my car to cut off in the middle of driving. My mechanic advised me to report this problem and either change the oil every 3,000 miles or get rid of the car. It is dangerous for the car to continuously cut off while driving it. So I am reporting this problem I've had for the past year and a half with hopes for a solution.

Takata recall: my vehicle, Chrysler 2015 200 consistently stalls out when oil gets too low. Oil goes low unexpectedly and far before any scheduled oil maintenance. Engine is burning oil much too quickly. Vehicle will stall with no warning in the middle of traffic.
Oil consumption and electric wiring problems causing the air conditioner to go out and blow hot air. The oil consumption will need entire engine replaced. Oil consumption almost caused wreck because car will throw car in park at unexplained times because oil is low even when oil was changed. Very very dangerous. Oil light does not come on either even oil is dangerously low. Driver is unaware.
I was driving down the road and while accelerating , my car suddenly jerks really hard forward . My engine starts knocking really loudly & I started to smell burning oil . The car was smoking & could have lead to a very serious accident . Now as the result of Chrysler 200 being such a failed model , I was unable to continue making payments and fix the vehicle , now I'm $22,000 in debt .
I was having issues with my car I would get in it to drive it and it would just die on me in the middle of the road and that is very dangerous it got to where I didnt drive it well then finally on a day off I had to get my Chrysler 200 towed into the nearest Chrysler dealership which is the dealership located in mt juliet well I have always had my oil changed on time and I have all the documents that it was changed well we got it towed and the mechanic checked my oil and there was no oil what so ever in my car so I would up having to leave my car for there manager to supposedly change the oil and do an oil pressure test well I had my car picked up by my grandma and they didnt giver her a receipt because the mechanic told us it would be an open account until they figured out if it was using oil well I drove it 1 thousand miles and took it back and the manager with the mechanic checked my oil and they said it was full well then next thousand miles we took it back and they decided to give us issues because the mechanic we where working with had left the company and we have a receipt from both times and it states in the first receipt that they put in their system that the oil consumption test did begin on that date well the manager told us that they only had record of us being there twice which both times was to check the oil well the manager stated that I would have to bring it back and get an oil change and start the entire process over again and my car is only in warranty for a few more months my car is using oil and there is no leaks that are happening I want this issue fixed or you can buy this car out I am tired of having to miss work or going through heck to try to get this resolved. I do have the proof and I'm not scared to take this into lawful orders. Thank you very much westly ashford I also have a video of what the car was doing and I am not afraid to show it.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle slowed down and shut off without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to napleton's river oaks Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (708-801-3090, located at 17225 torrence Ave, lansing, IL 60438) where it was diagnosed that the oil was low. The technician topped off the oil, but the failure recurred after 700 miles. The contact went back and forth to the same dealer and the oil was refilled each time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and recommended an oil consumption test be conducted. The failure recurred and the manufacturer ordered the dealer to perform a diagnostic test. A diagnostic appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 22,424.
I have noticed that my 2016 Chrysler 200 is burning oil at an alarming rate. I didn't even know it was low because there is no sensor that shows up on the dash letting me know the oil was low. The "oil change life" is still at 20% life but my car has burned thru over 4 quarts of oil in 4,000 miles!! I find this extremely concerning not to mention the possible engine damage that can be done with a car burning this much oil. There should be an alert to drivers letting them know the oil levels are low. I have never had a car that burned oil like this!.
We own a 2016 Chrysler 200 with a 4 cylinder engine that is burning one quart of oil every 750 miles. We are told by the dealer that Chrysler engineers say it is acceptable for that engine to use a quart of oil in 750 to 1000 miles. The engine has done this since it was new. They replaced fouled spark plugs and even complete cylinders on the car. The last time my wife waited until the recommended oil change it had used 5 quarts. The dealer is still giving us the run around as is mr stander at Chrysler USA and sergio marchioni who called the designers of the engine dummies. Recall these cars now.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that oil would burn excessively soon after having an oil change without warning. The contact also stated that he would experience intermittent stalling while traveling at various speeds without warning. The contact called jeff d'ambrosio Dodge Chrysler Jeep downingtown 1221 e lancaster Ave, downingtown, PA 19335 where he was informed that his vehicle was no longer under warranty and that the vehicle could not be diagnosed unless a check engine light had illuminated. The manufacturer had also been notified of the failure and gave the contact the same information as the dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Jo.
My husband and I went on a trip from bellevue, ohio to fort wayne, indiana. Around 300 miles round trip, give or take. My husband checked the oil before we left and it was fine. No problems on the ride there. After the car sat for 3-4 hours we were leaving the park, going down a hill with a curve at the bottom and the car just dies. No steering and no brakes. All the lights on the dash came on. We had no idea what was going on. We almost hit a camper. The only thing that stilled worked was the radio. The car finally stops on its own. My husband puts it in parking and checks on the outside of the car to make sure we didn't hit anything. When he true to start the back up, it struggles the first two tries. The third time it turned over. No lights on dash to explain the stall. We nervously drive the car all the way home. I called the dealership the next morning. We took the car in to be checked out. Dealership had the car over night. We go in to pick up our car and they tell us that they had to put 3 3/4 quarts of oil in it. It being low on oil caused the safety feature in the car to shut the engine down. Didnt know about this feature. We were also informed that since our car had over 50,000 it will burn through a quart of oil every 750 miles. . Seriously. After the dealership tried to charge us 75 dollars for labor, which I refused to pay. I went home and researched the oil consumption for our car. On the Chrysler website it does state that our car will consume 1 quart of oil for every 750 miles. Chrysler says this is acceptable. My dad is a retired mechanic of 45 years and hes beyond outraged that this is acceptable. At 80 an oil change and for someone that travels a lot, that's ridiculously expensive. How can this be acceptable? mind blown by this.
Continuously burns oil. Has no alert for when oil is low. Engine shuts off on hard turn when oil low.
After work I go to start my car and there was a hard start and then my car died. The engine felt like it was going to pop out of the hood. Well, Chrysler was informed and my car was towed next day to the dealership. My service man called approximately 45 min after my car was delivered to them explaining to me I was about 2 quarts low on oil. This is impossible I explained to him. On the driver side there is a sticker showing I just got my oil change not to long ago. My service man said this is a known problem with this engine. This type of engine burns oil and I recommend when you fill up your tank to check your oil every time. I fill up once a week so I have to check my oil once a week!? this is ridiculous my new car burns oil!? good thing this happened after work. What if my car would have stalled while driving with my kids. I drive across town to take and pick up my kids from school. Now I have to carry a quart of oil so my car doesn't stall and die on me.
Car burns entire supply of oil in less than 1500 miles. Engine oil depletes without warning then the car cuts off in the middle of the road. Oil life reads improperly on the dash.
The car is burning oil. 35 qt in 6000 miles. That is all you smell as you drive or at idle. The car jerks back and forth as you drive not good form my 5 yr and 3 yr old necks when its jerking them back and forth. As we brake the car feels like it is giving gas to go. The car has died at stop signs in the middle of know where.
Car loses oil even when not due for oil change not burning up just loses it cause car to stall and not start horrible engineering flaw just had a oil change last week and continues to do this.
