Engine Stall Problems of Chrysler 200 - part 1

Engine stalled forcing me to cross two lanes of traffic almost getting hit by another car engine light came on would not restart if it did start it sputtered the next day I took it to a dealer who told me the following day it's a crank sensor checking online that seems to be a problem with your engines cost me $500 almost to fix the repair and also I had to wait two days without a car and then pay for 2 days for a rental car I do not understand why this was not covered I could have been hurt severely.

Several issues. Horn blows randomly. Wipers come on for no reason. Engine stalls driving at speeds 60 mph. May start after several tries. May not start until several tries. Horn will also blow with engine off and monkeys in ignition.

My car has just under 50,000 miles on it and is well maintained. Twice in the past week, the engine has stalled while coming to a stop at the exact same stop sign. There is no warning prior, during, or after. I have been able to put the car in park and it has started right back up.

I just had my car pre purchase inspected and it was reported to be in great condition. Then all of the sudden my engine has stalled twice in the last 72hours, when coming to a stop. I am able to turn it back on, however fear for my safety now whenever I drive it. These exact issues have been reported with other 2012 Chrysler 200 models, due to connecting rod bearing failure and I believe this model has been similarly effected. I feel like I should be entitled to a engine recall as well, due to the identical issues that I am experiencing.

While driving, usually decelerating or getting ready to stop or already stopped and getting ready to accelerate the engine will stall or completely shut off, will be completely hot, will take about 15-20 minutes and then will start again. This has caused my son safety issues where he's completely stopped running on a busy road and then had to push the car into either a parking lot without power steering (hard to do by himself at 18 yo) or into a driveway. This has also happened in the country at night. No lights come on except once when the abs and traction lights came on. The vehicle will vibrate slightly before each episode. The last episode we had to have it towed. Has happened about 6 times. Now no longer driving due to safety!!.

Engine keeps stalling at stop lights and signs, my kids are in the car and don't want to get hit because of it, car has 129,000 miles always been very well maintained and now only problems. Also we bought the car brand new made every payment on time only to start having problems once it's paid off. So frustrating.

Engine tends to stall out when making sharp right turns. Has happened 2 times now, luckily I was near a vacant parking lot to stop the vehicle and restart. Once stopped and in park, engine hesitates to start then drives as if nothing has happened. No engine codes, warning lights, or auras to give sight to a potential problem.

After starting car and driving for a few hundred feet, battery light will flash and then engine will stall out in the middle of the road the message "shift vehicle to park (p)" will also appear on the dash. After shifting to park and turning off, the engine will not turn over for several minutes. The battery light does not come on any other time and the battery was recently changed.

The engine keeps stalling while driving without warning. It is unable to restart for about 30 minutes, then will start up normally as if nothing has happened. I have taken it to Chrysler service several times to be told that nothing shows up on the diagnostic and they cannot determine the issue to this very dangerous problem. The problem happens while the car is in motion and can happen anytime regardless of speed, location, or what the car is doing. It happens repeatedly, approximately every 3 weeks.

Engine stall ever time I drive my car engine will stall it has happen to me 3 times in the highway.

Driving 55 mph engine stalls ,battery light came on,transmission shifting info center coming on,stall and setting still.

While slowing for an exit ramp off of the highway the engine stalled. Could not restart and had to be towed away.

When coming to a stop or accelerating from a complete stop either turning or straight, the engine stalls without warning & there is no power steering or momentum to safely pull over. I have been stuck with hazards on at neighborhood stop signs, in stopped traffic after the light turns green, freeway on ramps, in the center of small & large intersections blocking traffic, on railroad tracks, & more. It can take up to 3 tries for the engine to restart. Obviously this is extremely unsafe, & I do not believe that I should be stuck in an intersection because a newer car with such low miles dies every day, often several times a day. In addition, the transmission is very jerky & the engine does not run smoothly once it restarts. That also happens occasionally upon the first start of the day. I do not understand why my vehicle was not included in the recall for this exact issue. I do have videos of this, but can not upload them. The date below is the date of one of the videos, this problem occurs daily & has been for several weeks. After purchasing the car, there were a few incidents months apart, then it became more frequent, & for the last several weeks it is a daily occurrence.

The 2015 Chrysler 200 engine stalled , on several occasions , while the vehicle were in motion. For safety , I was forced to pulled over and wait ,while restarting the engine .

When engine is cold it stalls repeatedly when I slow down, stop, turn a corner or accelerate. Car is fine when it is hot but I can't always let it warm up for 10 minutes before driving. This morning was the worst when I pulled out of my subdivision and it stalled in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic having to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. This is going to get me killed.

The car engine keeps on stalling while it is in motion. The car suddenly stops while I am driving it. There are no warning lights, visual cues or sounds to indicate any problem. As a result, the car's power steering becomes inoperable. The speed of the car varies at the time of each incident. Each time this incident has happened, the car has become disabled in the middle of the street. There have been 5 incidents this past month. So far, the car has been able to restart after putting the car in park and after a couple of attempts of pushing the start button along with stepping on the brakes. It usually takes a couple of minutes. During that time, my car is in the middle of the street and in traffic. I have had my children in the car during some of these incidents. It is an extreme safety risk.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for a diagnostic test or repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 199,000. Dr.

12/20/18 problems with electrical connectors, my engine stall, gearshift not going into neutral, intermittent power failure to certain electrical components. Not starting or moving.

Approximately 2 months after purchasing my 2013 Chrysler 200 ltd (6-cyl. ; mileage approx. 79k), the car began randomly losing power and stalling out while I was driving. When this occurred, I only had a few seconds to slowly coast to the side of the road to get off the highway. The car would not restart, and I had to call a wrecker. This has now happened 5 times. All of my trips were local when the engine stalls occurred, and each stall came without any warning while I was simply cruising down a highway or a city street, and not traveling up or down any significant slopes. When the car engine died, the dashboard indicators all illuminated while the engine was dying. I have had Chrysler service respond to the scene immediately to get diagnostics, and the car is not throwing out any diagnostic codes. When the engine dies, it can be restarted after the car sits for awhile. . . Maybe a few hours. The pcm (computer) was replaced and all software patches have been installed, but that didn't fix the problem. The car has been in the Chrysler dealership repair shop over a month now, while they wait hopefully for a technical wizard to impart exploratory repair magic over their star network. I sure would like to have my car back. . . . Working. I was fortunate to have been able to get my car off the road on the occasions that it died. I could have been in a very dangerous situation otherwise. It is noted that NHTSA closed their investigation of this problem with the Chrysler 200, shortly after a software patch was released in sept. 2012.

Car engine stalls continuesly while driving on highway with no warning at all . Recall was placed on this car in 2015 for this issue supposedly as I read online . Now it is doing the same issue again.

Exactly one month after purchasing my Chrysler 200 Nov 28, 2017bthe engine light came on during short drive to the movies, and the engine began to stall while waiting at a red light. I had to pay almost $400 to replace ignition coil. Then a month ago, 06/27/2018 another ignition coil failed costing me $250, luckily when the coil failed I was in line at a starbuck's drivethru. Now another coil has failed leaving the car undriveable again, and now unable to afford repair. Unfortunately the warranty I purchased with the vehicle does not cover this part and after recently reading reviews on this particular vehicle I have come to learn that this is a recurring issue that has not been called out, yet this vehicle is still be sold to people. I strongly feel that it is a safety concern, because in this last incident my coil went out while driving on the highway and my car began to stall in the middle of rush hour traffic during a heat advisory. I also strongly believe that the part the ignition coils are faulty and are cause for great concern.

The engine stalls when coming to a stop such as a stop light or stop sign. The engine also stalls and shuts off when accelerating after stopping. It stopped in the middle of an intersection while turning out of my apartment complex into a busy main road. I was able to coast off of the road and tried to restart. Upon trying to restart it hesitated to turn over and start. It took about 2 minutes before it finally started and it didn't want to accelerate. There was no warning that it was getting ready to stall. After it started up again a message came up saying that the electronic throttle needed to be serviced. This makes the 3rd time it had stalled but the 1st time it has given me any kind of indication why.

Engine stalled out while driving with no warning and if lucky starts up after about an hour without any indication why.

The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving 5 mph, the engine stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact replaced the spare battery and jumpstarted the vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle. The contact also stated that the gear failed to shift from park to drive, but then automatically shifted from park to neutral. After a few attempts, the vehicle restarted and the gear shifted into drive. The contact was able to drive to gwinnett Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (5054 us-78, stone mountain, GA 30087), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-853-1403 and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was advised to call NHTSA. A case number was not provided. The failure mileage was 41,000.

When the vehicle comes to rest at a stop light or sign and I try to pull out, a warning light flashes, the engine stalls and the message says to put engine in park. When I am finally able to release my foot from the brake and power the car off and try to restart, it tries, but fails at least two times before working the third time.

When I am in drive and turn a corner onto an uphill street, my car's bell sounds and the dash readout says "press ok for kmh" then the engine cuts out and the car stalls. It will restart after a couple attempts. This has happened several times over the course of a couple days. The car is still under warranty, but a dealership won't be able to fit it in for two weeks. I have appealed to Chrysler in two separate phone calls, but they have been unhelpful and will not agree to reimburse costs if I go elsewhere.

Engine stalls/cuts off at any moment without any signs or warnings. The issue happened for the first time in July 2016 and the car was with dealership for about a month. They gave back the car 3 times without proper diagnosis and it kept stalling at different times. I had to open up a case at Chrysler and explain them the risk of driving this vehicle when it cuts off on freeway and finally at 4th attempt it was fixed. They mentioned that the recall which was performed in June was not done properly. 2017, I went in for another recall and just after a month again in June 2017 I am having this issue again. The engine stalled on me when I was on first lane on freeway, again a risk experience. The car is with dealership since last 15 days and they are also able to recreate the issue. There is something really wrong with this year's model and I have seen other complaints as well from other owners. I am selling this car as soon as this is fixed.

I was on the highway and the car stalled several times. I sat on the side lane and turned the car off for a minute. I started it up again and proceeded to get off the highway the car accelerated less than 20 miles per hour. My daughter and I were terrified before the car stopped suddenly and cars had to break behind us to avoid hitting the car. The car stalls on my wife every day. She sitting at light or sitting in traffic. You can be driving on the freeway and without warning it cuts off. I am now the only Chrysler owner that is having this issue. This is going to cause a really bad accident, or maybe someone dieing dealing with this issue. I have been calling so see if there is a recall. I saw something on google and said there is a recall but when I call the dealer ship they say there is no recall. What is it going to take for us to get a recall on the 2015 Chrysler 200's engine stalling problem. This started happen back in October 2016.

Vehicle lost power while pulling into traffic. 2016 Chrysler 200 s with 2614 miles. . . Engine was warm. I stepped on the gas and lost all power (electrical), followed by engine stall behavior, power loss, stall behavior, then transmission knob light flashes "d" and instrument cluster says to select gear again. Was nearly rear ended and/or t-boned by oncoming traffic. Dealer performed 4 flash updates today.
