Warning Light On Problems of Chrysler 200 - part 1

A service airbag warning light came on in my 2016 Chrysler 200. I took the vehicle in to the Chrysler dealership for another recall and had them check into the airbag situation. I received a call from dealer and was advised that wiring harness for the airbag needs to be replaced and will not be covered since my vehicle is outside of the warranty. The repair is approximately $1200. 00. I do not believe as a customer I should be responsible for this repair. It is a safety issue and its not a normal wear and tear issue and I do not have access to the airbag or harness to where I would of damaged it. I have been driving and purchasing vehicles for the last 30 + years and never had any such issue. I have contacted Chrysler customer service with no success into taking this seriously. I would like to provide a formal complaint on this and seeking to see what my options are in this situation. Chrysler cannot even advise which airbag is defective which I find hard to believe in this time and age with all the technology provided. I find that Chrysler should be pro active in addressing this repair before anything could happen to cause possible harm or even casualties.

Purchased this Chrysler 2015 in March 2016. Odometer read 28350. October 2017 hit a bump going to work, airbag warning light turns on. Had a little anxiety but w just the right bumps light would go off for a period of time. This continues until Feb of 2020 when I send the car to my mechanic to have a thermostat housing replaced as well as that dash warning light that comes and goes. Mechanic replaced the thermostat and informs me that the airbag warning is under recall and Chrysler will pay for that. Ok. I make an appt at the Dodge dealership in gresham oregon and they tell me after a 4 hr diagnostic that the airbag safety harnesses under the driver and passenger seats may not deploy in an accident. About Dec. 20, 2019 I was surprised to find the air bag warning light on the dash of my 2015 Chrysler 200 when I started it. I went to a mechanic to fix it; but he didn't do that kind of work and recommended another mechanic in a nearby town. I was able to get an appointment yesterday (Feb. 17, 2020). The trouble-code was: b0020-13. He called to get the required parts, and was quoted $1,074. 00 plus 7% tax and labor of $100. 00. He looked on computer and found that both sides of the seat-sensor-harness should be calibrated together. In other words, the price doubles to $2. 500. 00 for both seat-sensor-harnasses! it is a "safety issue" that needs to be addressed in a car that is only 5 years and 8 months old (the date of manufacture is April 2015). We looked-up the problem online and found recall # 16v114000 which states that if one seat harness needs to be replaced, then, both must be replaced and calibrated as a single unit, thereby doubling the cost! I called Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 with my VIN number and she said that my VIN number is not included (actually, the recall only applies to only 78 vehicles). But after telling her that it was a "safety issue" that I couldn't afford to pay for, she gave me a "goodwill assistance case number". I was told that they "might" help; and to call my Chrysler dealer and give that number to them. I did so and they said they will call me 'soon'. I don't know what to expect. . They don't like to tell you much; but I'm hoping to have it fixed quickly, in the event of a crash that might disable, or kill, me! thank you!.

Air bag warning light comes and stays on while driving w/an alert sound indicator while driving.

The light to get airbag serviced keeps coming on and going off. It has started stalling randomly while driving or coming to a stop. Noticed that it didn't do it as bad once car was warmed up, but then it dropped power while we were in traffic on a bridge overpass and we had to limp it home. Looked up the warning light meanings and it said we should not drive it as it will either lose power withoout warning and have to be limped or it will accerlerate and we would have no way to stop it. So I have a car that cannot be driven and I had seen that there were recalls for similar problems however, when I put my VIN number in, it said there were no unrepaired recalls for this VIN number.

Air bags lights comes on indicating that there is a problem with the passenger seat. It has only came on after I have had a passenger in the passenger seat and on my instrument panel there's a red warning light that that air bag is not operational according to the dealership at jeff wyler east gate in batavia ohio 45102 513-7523447. I also had to put the same 200 s in the shop for a massive oil leak that once I noticed it and then had it checked by a Chrysler service advisor there was no oil in the 3. 6 l engine and I was told it was a common issue with the 3. 6l engine that there was a TSB or something on it so I dropped it of at the above mentioned location to find out my warranty would cover the problem that it was the oil cooler cracked and I would have to pay the $200 lifetime warranty I had on the car. The other issue was there's a engine light on that indicated that the cooling system was malfunctioning which I had mentioned to the dealer when I bought the car or the sweet bungent odor that I smelled coming out of my vents at 5 miles when I bought it I was told that it would go away by 50 miles on my odometer and now at 66700 it's back and was notice by the discount tire shop tell me they smelled a strong coolent leak and I mentioned it to the dealer and they wanted to charge me more money to find if there was a issue that that had already told me was there after I bought the car at 5 miles and would go away at 50 ! to be honest I just believe I got use to it!!!.

Took to dealer because my mechanic said there had been a manufacturer defect, have read numerous reports from other 2015 owners and it is still not handled by the manufacturer. Takata recall - airbag warning sensor has been displaying off and on for over a year. When I called the dealership I was told it was wear and tear and it would cost me alot to replace them. The car will lose power (grog out) intermittently causing me to almost stall. And just recently the gas cap warning light came on, along with the engine light. While waiting on my ride to the enterprise there were other customers with the same complaint. After 2. 5 days of waiting the vehicle was ready.
