Airbag light keeps coming on. Bought the car used from a dealership in June 2019. VIN # is not on a recall list for takata airbags. The car is at college, out of state, with my granddaughter. The local Chrysler dealership in her area will not fix the airbag problem for free because the VIN # is not on a recall list. I'm at a loss since the cost of repair is high. I live on social security & she is going to school on scholarships. Does she have to be involved in an accident and possibly be hurt before Chrysler will repair the airbag problem-free? the description for this problem says the airbag may not deploy if there is an accident. How do I know if the car should be on a recall list? this is not the first time the light has come on. The car has been in motion, on a city street and on the highway when the problem occurs. The latest occurrence was on or about the date listed below and the airbag light is still on.
Crashed into vehicle in front of me due to not being able to stop in time while traveling 25-30 mph, possibly faster. Front end completely crumpled and vehicle was considered total loss. Airbags did not deploy at all.
The contact loaned a 2011 Chrysler 200. The contact was driving a 60 mph on cruise control, two deers jumped in front and the vehicle swerved in order to avoid crashing into them. As a result, the contact went into a ditch and the vehicle flipped on the side and skidded for approximately 30-40 yards. The vehicle eventually came to a stop after crashing into a telephone pole. The contact mentioned that the roof of the vehicle detached. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belts failed to properly retract. The contact temporarily lost consciousness due to a head injury and suffered a laceration on their left hand. The contact did received medical attention. A police report was filed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was totaled. The vehicle was towed to a local wrecking lot. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Reporting as a repair shop. The referenced vehicle arrived with a complaint of air bag light on. Found a TSB (see photos)requiring replacement of both front seat wiring harnesses due to open circuit in side curtain airbag deployment squib. This issue can cause side airbags not to deploy in a crash. Not only is this a costly repair it is not covered by any Chrysler recall or warranty and does present a safety concern for owners of the affected vehicles.
We are a repair shop reporting this issue. The referenced vehicle arrived with a complaint of the airbag light on. Tech found trouble code b0020-13(left side seat deployment squib 1- circuit open)stored in airbag module. Tech also found a TSB (see photos)requiring replacement of both front seat complete airbag wiring harnesses with an updated version. The existing condition can cause the side curtain airbags to not deploy in event of a crash. Chrysler has not issued a recall or offered any warranty extension on this known problem that effects 201- 2017 Jeep cherokees and 2015- 2017 Chrysler 200s. It is our feeling that this known condition presents a serious safety concern to owners of the affected vehicles, and is an extremely costly repair for a safety concern that should not fall on the shoulder of the consumer.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving 15 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The air bag failed to deploy. The contact sustained head injuries that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was driven to the contacts' residence. The vehicle failed to restart and all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing of the air bag failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
My takata recall is to say that my car was involved in an accident and the airbags did not fully deploy but it smelled as if they did and my car indicated my air bags deployed but they did not. My seatbelts are now stuck and I'm not sure if the bags will deploy later or not.
Airbag light comes on intermittently. Dealer says that when the light is on, the airbags will not deploy. Dealer says that Chrysler is aware of the problem and that fixing it would cost $2,900, but that Chrysler also can do and "overlay" (I don't know what that is) for $165 per seat that might make the problem go away, but the only guaranteed fix is the $2,900 option. Obviously the $2,900 option is cost prohibitive so after we went with the $165 option, the problem still remains.
For about 30k miles now my service airbag light is on. Chrysler wants to charge $100 to look at it and then charge much, much more to "fix" the airbags. Why are airbags that have never been deployed not always covered under a warranty? I have been told by a third party tech that the airbags will not deploy with this light on. This problem is widely known and Chrysler seems to think our safety is not worth covering this issue.
I have been advised that I currently do not have airbags that will deploy in a wreck due to needing a new oc module and passenger airbag. My car only has 60k miles and no airbags. I have been advised that the repair is over $1,000. 00. How is this not a defect/recall when airbags have never been deployed on my vehicle? how is this safe to sell cars that have airbag defects without recalls?.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove down an embankment and crashed. During the incident the front end of the vehicle sustained severe damage but the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained head laceration and a fractured nose. The vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. A police report was taken at the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler of santa maria CA. Were both notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000. Jft.
My vehicle rear ended a stopped pick up truck at approximately 35-40mph. Prior to and during the accident, the forward collision warning didn't activate in time to help stop the car as well as the air bags never deployed throughout the accident.
On November 29, 2017 at approximately 5:15 pm, was driving approximately 25mph in traffic on a two lane. I hit the brake to stop, no brakes, and I hit the person in front of me. After hitting them, I bounced off and continued to move with no brakes. My airbags did not deploy and I sustained injuries to me chest, neck, head and back. I was able to steer the car in the right side lane and eventually was able to steer into a parking lot; still with no brakes. I looked down to pull up the emergency brake and saw the shifter in neutral. I then put the shifter in park and the car finally stopped. I do not yet have the police report. I did not receive a ticket, but was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
My airbag service light came on while driving down a local street with no warning. The car has never been in an accident, I purchased the car new (with 6 miles), I searched if there was a recall for this issue, however, the NHTSA website only site 78 vehicles affected in the recall. I checked and my car was not included. This issue should be resolved for fear the airbags will deploy while simply driving down the highway, or even worse, the airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident.
The contact owned a 2012 Chrysler 200. While the contact's partner was driving 25 mph, the driver crashed into a wall to prevent rear ending another vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the scene and confirmed destroyed. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags), but the vehicle had not been serviced. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.
The contact owned a 2012 Chrysler 200. While the contact's granddaughter was driving 10 mph and making a left turn, another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side. The air bags failed to deploy and the driver side seat belt failed to restrain the driver, which caused her head to hit the steering wheel. The driver sustained bruising to the forehead, but medical attention was not required. The front seat passenger was uninjured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was driven to a local auto body shop where it was deemed a total loss. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags, seat belts) several months prior to the failure. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified as the recall notice stated that owners would receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. The failure mileage was 80,566.

The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

Takata recall the side air bag did not deploy after my car was wrecked into . It totally destroyed the back door on the passenger side of my car and hit the front passenger door also. I was making a left turn and a car tboned me in the passenger side of my car.
Takata recall unknown my car stalled out on the side of the road and I left it there to be picked up by my mechanic the next morning. I found out the next day that my car had been crashed and I went to the tow yard where the vehicle had been taken to retrieve my personal items from the vehicle and noticed that my airbags did not deploy. My car has been considered a total loss by geico car insurance. Geico claim number 0582164930101094. I still have my title, it is a rebuilt one. Geico has been taking their sweet time to reimburse me for my vehicle. The actual accident occurred on April 25th, 2017. The police report is inaccurate. Today is August 30th, 2017 and I'm still waiting on a check. The tow yard has apparently become the lienholder so I've been told and geico has to pay them off before they can pay me? I don't know it's crazy. There would be no lien if geico had handled this in a timely manner. I have had to come out of pocket to purchase a cheap car in the meantime while I wait. I have just recently received emails from carfax saying that my car may be at risk of being recalled so I put in my VIN number (1c3ccbhg0cn327222) and it says that my Chrysler 200 2012 is a s61. However, I was aware the passenger seatbelts were locked but I was still able to wrap the driver's belt around me. Furthermore, I've had numerous headlight issues in both headlights and the ac eventually stopped working. There was also a check engine light on that could not be turned off. I spoke with Chrysler and they told me nothing can be done as far as reimbursement at this point because I have no possession of the vehicle. However, the title is still in my name and the possession issue is geico's fault. I am looking for some type of justice in this situation it could have been me in the crash. I am krista ricard and it says under federal law that my vehicle can be replaced. #16v-668.

Takata recall February 2017, I was sitting in the driveway of my moms house when I hear a ringing noise in my car, the car wasn't moving; it was turned on and parked. It appeared on my dash and said service air bag sensor. The light stayed on and never went off. I called the dealership and they told me there was no recall on it so there was nothing they could do for me unless I paid the $200 to get it looked at and fixed. A friend of ours drove our car and ended up getting into an accident. He rear ended a police officer and the air bags never deployed, prior to the accident, the sensor light was already on. Which is a major concern for me. The whole front end of my car was damaged and needs completely repaired along with the other vehicles rear end.
My daughter was in a car accident on January 27, 2017 where they had to cut her out of the car and her air bags never deployed on any part of the vehicle.
My chry 200, 2015 was involved in a front end collision and the air bags did not deploy. When my car collided with the side of a school bus the whole front and driver side of the Chrysler was smashed in and tore off. The vehicle was in motion on impact, on a city street while turning left.
The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler 200. On December 31, 2016, while the contact's wife was driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle slid off of the road, crossed a ditch, and crashed into a tree stump. The road conditions played a factor in the crash. The front end of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was repaired for the body damage. Prior to the crash, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. A dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a time frame for the recall repair of August 2017. The contact was provided case number: 31236420. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
My wife was involved in an accident Dec 24, 2016. Icy road conditions, hit a stalled vehicle, air bags did not deploy. She suffered a broken arm and broken ribs.
The contact owned a 2011 Chrysler 200. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle independently swerved to the right and struck a frozen embankment. The seat belt failed to restrain the contact. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed away by the insurance company. The contact sustained injuries to the head, lower back, jaw, and several broken ribs. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was totaled. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts). The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle was involved in a side impact collision. The side air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
My 2014 Chrysler 200 is subject to the s61 recall because the air bag and seat belt may not deploy or operate properly in an accident. Fca says it has no fix for the issue, but is comfortable with placing my young daughter's life at risk every time she drives. Apparently it is cheaper for them to pay off in a death than really take care of the issue. They clearly can do something since they offer reimbursement if you have already had the issue fixed and they no longer use that faulty device in their new vehicles. Chrysler's response to wait and see if something happens is totally unacceptable. Chrysler should be forced to take these vehicles off the road and provide compensation to owners even if that is a deal to trade at the customer's benefit for an equivalent car without this issue. To add insult to injury, one of their dealers was going to "help" me by offering me $5000 less than blue book value on a new commesurate vehicle and upping my monthly payments by $200.
On Nov 7 2016 at roughly 7pm, I was heading west on the 10 freeway location 34. 065990,-117. 993771, baldwin park, CA. Traffic started to slow to 45 mph then came to a sudden stop and I was the last one in the 4 car collision. My airbags did not deploy and. I feel that the brakes may be faulty for when I stepped on them as hard as I could it seemed to be more of a skipping stop. For the littlest bump feels like ur hydroplaning to a stop. Chrysler never informed me of any recall about the airbags though I felt they should of deployed. My car was in the shop till March so I havent had it back but a few months.
The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler 200. While driving 45 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. After the crash occurred, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags). The part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The body damage was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
