Low oil levels, oil light and check engine light always on. Kept taking the car in to have it checked, we were told nothing was wrong, just keep adding oil. That made no sense as there had to be a reason for this. Was finally diagnosed as oil sludge and engine was destroyed and needed to be replaced. Also, because it caused the lights to be on for so long, I now need to have the computer replaced that controls the sensors for those.
Once getting off the interstate and turning onto a frontage road, driving 35 mph my car lost power and stalled. I pulled onto the side of the road, turned my car off, and it turned back on. However, this problem has been occurring off and on since August 2013 (7-8xs). It most commonly stalls after filling up with gas. The steering wheel will often times become locked when trying to make a turn when the car stalls. The esp/bas light, check engine light, and a red light with a lightening bolt with vertical lines on each side of it (symbol not in Chrysler manual) all turn on when the car stalls. The car stalls 3-4xs before making it to the destination. I have brought my car in to an automotive repair shop 3xs and leave without any explanation of the current problem.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated after turning the vehicle on the check engine light came on and the vehicle would hesitate and then accelerate. The failure occurred intermittently. The check engine light would also illuminate when the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and other local mechanics but no one could duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 105,000.
The contact stated when the check engine light illuminated the vehicle started shaking, loses power, and noise came from the engine. This occurred at various speeds. The first time the vehicle was taken for repairs the dealership could not duplicate the problem. The second time, they replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the fuel system ,and the valve. The dealer repaired the vehicle in the same manner when the problem returned the third time. The problem has not recurred.
