It caught on fire an burned the alternator out an also the main harness to the vehicle.
I recently ran into some mechanical issues that have concerned me. I was driving my vehicle October 9th 2019 on the highway with an average speed of 70mph speed limit and without any warning the vehicle cut off while still in motion. There were no warning lights or any indication that I was having any issues mechanically. I was able to pull over safely and the vehicle would not start. After 15-20 minutes on the side of the road and a few phone calls to a towing company I tried to start the vehicle and it started right up. I contacted the nearest dealer to me rocky mount Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat, located at 1340 s wesleyan blvd, rocky mount, nc 27803 at phone number 252-977-1340. I was told by the service manager my vehicle had already had the recall for the electrical system: alternator/generator/regulator completed and there should not be any problems. This was even after stating the issue which I caused me to be on the side of the road. Believing the recall actually fixed the problem the first time then why am I now/still having the same problems as listed with the recall, electrical system: alternator/generator/regulator.
While driving down a busy highway my car began to have electrical issues with the lights blinking and display going in and out before the vehicle cut off in the middle of the road. I had three children all under the age of five. After having it towed and inspected a refurbished alternator was put in due to a recall (new ones were on back order). Last week my power steering went out while I was driving. I couldn't move the steering wheel at ali. I called the insurance company to send assistance to no avail. I replaced the power steering fuse the next day and after dropping my son off to school, it went out again in the middle of the road. Luckily, I had purchased extra fuses in the event it went out again. I took it to the dealership that did the work before, where they told me the only thing that would fix that problem would be to replace the power steering pump because its electrical. Having electrical issues that affect your ability to operate the car while you are operating it is extremely dangerous and frightening especially when you have children aboard.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle suddenly shut off causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of a second vehicle. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA recall campaign 17v435000(electrical system) and the alternator was replaced but the failure had recently reoccurred. The manufacturer and local dealer courtesy Dodge(440 28th st se. Grand rapids mi) were notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 111,000. Jft.
Stoneridge Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram pleasanton, CA sold me this vehicle in March 2019, soon as left the dealer the alternator went out, then the engine light came on. The rear camera do not work, the uconnect do not work-malfunctions. The car was returned and kept for two to three weeks. Returned to me with the uconnect malfunctioning, engine light back on, rear camera not working.
While driving, the vehicle warning lights indicated systems starting to shut down---warning lights for abs, traction control, battery low, check engine, etc. Then "brakes" red light started flashing, and car felt like brakes were on. Car systems lost all power and car stalled, and I could not even run the "blinker" warning lights or any lights at all. I was able to swing car to side of road just in time before it basically "locked up" dead and immovable. Had to have car towed 2 miles to home. I had previously called local dealer and Chrysler headquarters 4 different times to schedule the 17v-435 alternator recall service over a several month period starting March 2018. Was told twice I had been moved up the waiting list for parts and they would call to schedule appointment. As of date of alternator failure December 13, 2018 I was never re-contacted for an appointment to bring car in for recall service. Car now sitting dead and immobile at my home.

I have a recall for alternator I have had four appointments sinc November. Each time they study the problem charge chysle for the inspection then tell me they don't have a altinator. What do I do. It's a alternator recall.
Experience recall t36: I was taking an exit off ramp from the highway when I could smell a burning smell. The abs, battery and check engine light started blinking. My speedometer was moving up and down, my screen started blinking, windshield wipers went on on its own and my car just locked up and all lights completely went off. Steering and brakes was not operable. As I came down the hilled ramp I pulled over (steering wheel) was hard to steer, hoping and praying that I didn't hit the light pole that was approx. 10 ft away. Thank god the car came to a complete stop about 5 ft away from the light pole. I was not able to put the car in the park position. I called roadside assistance and the tow truck guy couldn't get the car into neutral in order to tow it! he had to open up something by the shifter to force it to go into neutral. Got to the dealership and they quoted me a $160 diagnostic fee. Found that the problem was the alternator which also killed my battery. My car went to the dealership at about 10:30am. The shuttle service brought me to work. By 3pm I didnt get any phone call regarding the status on my car, I called them to check. They said it was the t36 recall -the alternator is faulty that they will try to get the new alternator covered without me having to pay anything out of pocket. The car wouldn't be able to be repaired until the next day. Well today is the next day, they will replace the alternator free of charge but it'll still be a defective one because I will still have to come back to the dealer "when they get the right alternator" and replace it again! this means I will still be driving my "unsafe" car that could get me in an accident or burn until the new part comes out!!this is totally ridiculous! I called the dealer monthly prior to this happening to no avail. I feel like they should provide me a rental car until the "right part" comes in!.

I was sent a recall notice thru the mail and I was given a appointment on October 17th 2017. I had to end up calling moss bros of moreno valley on September 23rd 2017 to accelerate my appointment because my radio, dash and windshield wipers were acting up and flickering at the same time. The vehicle also started to sputter then shut down. The same thing happened on September 25th 2017 but I called again because my vehicle stop while making a left turn and stopped in the middle of a intersection. Lucky avoiding an accident but I couldn't get it to go in any gear and or neutral to push it out of the intersection. I had to 'youtube' a video to learn how to move my car. This time moss bros in moreno valley moved my appointment to September 26th 2017 to do a diagnosis test to see if it even had to do with my recall. I had to pay the tow fee of $75. 00 to get it to the dealership, "pay" for a new battery which I think it's b. S. Of $210. 00. The car started up perfectly fine every time. I also know that a bad alternator can cause the battery to overload and overwork which will cause it to fail. I dont understand why I have to pay for sonething thats been an issue wit so many cars. The dealership can't give me a straightforward answer so if someone from your department please let me know ASAP where to go from here because at this moment I'm car'less/ borrowing from a family member. .

Got up in the morning started my Chrysler 300 let it run for 3-5mins before pulling off to get coffee. No issues going and returning which took 10-15mins tops. Returned home to pick up and drop my girlfriend off at work approx. 20-25 miles away. Made it there with no issues. I pull away from her job turn a few corners I suddenly hear a faint whining the steadily grew louder and began to smell electrical burning. I stopped at a red light popped the hood looked at the engine saw nothing but still smelled electrical burning. Got back in the car turned the car off then on again and pulled off. 5 miles from my girlfriends job I'm back on the highway going 60-65 the car is still whining the electronics started to flicker everything the needles everything just kept flashing or failed until the steering wheel locked up I couldn't break or gas but the car was still on and moving. I was only able to slowly work my way to the shoulder where I applied the emergency break to stop the car completely. I tried jumping the car but the wires melted which caused a little alarm because the cables where connected correctly. Got a tow home. On my own I removed the battery went to have it charged it would not hold a charge I bought a new one. Over $200. Upon connecting the new batteries neg connection which I did after connecting the pos. Connector I experienced a huge amount of sparking which actually ate away sum of the batteries neg. Connect. . . Yes ate the metal knob. . . Medal pieces like dust around it now but I don't think I damaged the battery. I checked the grounding it was all good or so it seemed. I removed the alternator took it to auto zone but unfortunately it has to be tested in the vehicle with the car running. . . Which I clearly cannot start. Ive set up appointments online to have it fixed but nobody not even Chrysler has the parts yet. . . Been 2 months. I'm just waiting.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 300. While driving approximately 25 mph, several warning alerts were present on the instrument panel and the vehicle suddenly shut down. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The local dealer momentum Chrysler of fairfield, California was notified of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v634000(electrical system). The contact was informed that the recall only included the 160 amp alternators. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
My cars radio went out first then ac blowing warm air then all gauges going crazy and had a burning smell of plastic. Was on a city street came up to stop sign and car just died. This could of been very dangerous. Thank goodness I wasn't on highway. I am told it is my alternator and this should be included with other recalls of alternators. I see they do have recalls on 2012 Chrysler 300 for alternator, but my VIN # isn't included in the recall, but should be included.
Had alternator and battery replaced today 06/30/2017 due to shortage. Noted numerous internet complaints about this for Chrysler 300. There is a safety recall that includes 'certain' 2011 thru 2014 Chrysler 300's ("p60 / NHTSA 14v-634. . . Fca has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2011 through 2014 model year Dodge durango, Chrysler 300, Dodge challenger, Dodge charger and 2012 through 2014 model year Jeep grand cherokee vehicles equipped with a 3. 6l engine and a 160 amp alternator. ") I checked with my local Chrysler dealership and the NHTSA VIN recall look-up tool and my car has no open recalls. However, I do not find it a coincidence that my car has this problem if other Chrysler 300's are having the problem enough to generate a recall. I had the battery and alternator replaced at a local repair company for $962 and some change. As the safety recall warns and denotes the possibility of . . . "the driver will have limited or no detection of the alternator failing, which can result in vehicle shutdown while driving" . . . This is exactly what happened to me at an intersection in heavy traffic on 06/29/17. I think my VIN should be included in the safety recall and Chrysler should be responsible for the repairs. Thank you for your time.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 300. While driving unknown speeds, the instrument cluster flashed and there was an abnormal burning odor. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact purchased the part and replaced the alternator; however, the vehicle was still inoperable. The contact visited a local dealer (2639 lakeside dr, lynchburg, va 24501) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number: 32635882. The manufacturer advised the contact to tow the vehicle to a local dealer at her expense. No further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was unknown.
Driving at night. Noticed car was" whining" and emitting burnt plastic odor. Lights dimmed. Information (evic) screen reported "battery saver mode". Checked car upon arriving home. Burnt odor from location of alternator.
My battery light came on when I was leaving the grocery store. About a mile away I stopped at stoplight at a busy intersection on the highway and dash lights started coming on and off, radio and ac coming on and off and then car dies and will not restart. After 5 or 10 minutes get it restarted and will barely move. Luckily there was an auto parts store just around the corner. When I pull in the parking lot, car will not shift out of drive, will not shut off, wind shield wipers come on and won't go off, gauges all going crazy and have to use emergency brake so my car won't run through the front of the store while I go into store to get help. The guy hooks up to diagnostic device and it gives a read error. (hooks up to another car and no error). Finally get car to shut off after about 20 minutes. He tests battery and comes back low. New $200 battery and starts up fine, everything working again. Pull out of parking lot and start smelling something burning, smoke coming through vents, weird sound. Pull over and same things happen - gauges going crazy, wipers on, won't shift out of drive, won't turn off. Get out of car and take key out with me and wipers come on. Have to take out fuse to get them to go off. Lights come on. Have to disconnect battery to get them off - all of this when the key is not even in the car! $60 to have car towed to shop and $600 to have alternator replaced. Why is the 180 amp alternator not part of the p60 recall when it is having the same exact issues as the 160 amp alternator that was recalled??? I keep seeing others saying they keep having the alternator go out again even after they replace it. I have had this car for 5 years and never and problems with it other than general maintenance stuff. I don't not feel safe driving it any longer.
Alternator went out without any warning. Battery was drained by alternator had no warning. I drive to work and everything was fine had no warning lights on that anything was malfunctioning in the car. When I tried to leave work I couldn't I was not even able to get into the car. Bought a new battery the next day and alternator drained that one too so had to go get the alternator replaced.
Battery and alternator went completely out at 78500 miles with no warning signs at all. Drove to work and had no lights to indicate anything was failing in the car when I went to go home at 3am. I couldn't get into the car because battery was dead. Had to lay out of pocket for a new battery and alternator plus labor when I had just purchased the car 3 months ago.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 300. While at a stop, the vehicle shut down without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the alternator was replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 7,200. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
My 2012 Chrysler 300 3. 6l v6 went in battery save mode as I was driving then shut off. It would not start so I boost it off and was able to get it started. I drove a circle around the apartment complex and the car begin to smoke. The 180amp alternator was smoking and burning up. I changed the alternator and replaced the battery. Now the car cranks and stay running but will not drive. No dash lights are working and I can not put it into gear. If I turn the wheel to the right or left completely then the a/c and dash lights n radio work but the car still will not go into my desired gear. I have lost a lot of time and money because of this issue and nowhere online is there answers for this problem.
