Have been having power steering problems over the past few years. Started by displaying a shift to park message while driving, my car would then lose power and shut down completely and power steering would lock up. Have taken to dealerships and independent mechanics and was told it was the wiring harness which they repaired several times and the car continued to have the issue. Approximately 3 months ago I was driving 55mph on highway when suddenly without any warning, the power steering failed and locked up making it very difficult to turn the wheel to get the vehicle off the highway safely. The power steering locking up put myself, my passengers and other drivers at risk bc I had no control over the steering. When I got the vehicle off of the highway a message repeatedly coming on and off saying “service power steering “ and another message saying power steering assist off service system. I was able to get the vehicle home, however the steering was extremely difficult especially in turns which is a major safety concern increasing a risk of an accident. I have done a lot of research about this issue and have found that there are numerous others with the same issue and same make/model as my 2016 Chrysler 300 c. I took the vehicle to another independent mechanic and they told me they couldn’t figure out what is wrong with it. I made another appointment with another mechanic and when I attempted to drive it “manually” as I had to do when it initially started doing this, the electric power steering has now completely locked up and the wheel is not functional at all and power steering has completely failed. This is not only a huge inconvenience but a serious safety hazard and should be investigated by the manufacturer.
The steering alert when off, the steering locked up in mid drive on interstate on several occasions. We took to dealer and to haigler automotive and no one could find out why the power steering locked up. The code only reads communication error. We have paid $2000. For diagnostic and repairs that they thought was related but it still losing communication to the car. We have less than 88000 miles on auto. We have owned the auto for three years. We can not afford another auto and need an auto for doctor visits. This auto was purchased based on ability to get I. And out of auto based on disability.

The bolts were loose on the driveshaft on the all-wheel-drive, which caused them to have to replace the entire driveshaft! if the driveshaft would’ve broke, whoever was driving the vehicle, whether it be me, or with my son in it, we would’ve wrecked and possibly died! the problem has been confirmed with a certified dealer! there is no warning signals. There was nothing and there is a recall on the same. There is a recall for the exact same problem as my car, and now they will not cover it because it doesn’t show up on the VIN! this is a very dangerous safety issue and chrys learning to address this as soon as possible! especially after one of their managers told me it would be paid for if I had a diagnosed with a certified dealer and now they’re saying they’re not paying for it.
It is obvious that this 2019 Chrysler 300 has the defects that a recall was issued by the nhsta about. My electrical systems have malfunctioned multiple times causing the vehicle to lock up and die in traffic. The power steering would go out. The car wouldn’t want to shift. Anything and everything that could read information out wrong was going off. The check engine light. The brake system. Transmission. Etc. Just everything was lit up on the dash. The car would lock and unlock on its own. The windshield wipers would come on and turn off by themselves. The transmission is electric too, and it would want to lock up when you tried to shift it to park. This car has truly been a nightmare for me. I was the second owner. It was sold to me by crain Ford of little rock. I was never told anything about any recall.
I was sitting at a stop light waiting to make a left turn when the electrical power steering randomly failed. This issue made it near impossible to turn the car and caused me to almost crash into a light pole when I tried to make the left turn. I then made an attempt to turn into a parking lot to get off the road almost causing me to wreck the car a second time. I have been told by multiple mechanics that this electrical power steering failure is not a common issue with newer vehicles. I want to submit this claim to make it known this make and model has this issue.
This has happened a few times. First , I started my car, after being driven for awhile, then it immediately shutoff and the abs system, traction control, emergency brake, and other lights lit up on my dash and showed in messages “service power steering,” “service abs system,” and “service electronic stability control. ” meanwhile, my power steering goes out, brakes, and air conditioning stop working with all the lights on my dash lit. Then, when you park and turn it off, it won’t start again. Doesn’t even try to start. This also has happened while driving and I had no choice, but to drive it or be stuck an hour from home at 1am. This not only puts others in danger, but myself with no brakes and power steering.
Reverse gear went out after vehicle slipped once, acted as if in neutral when in reverse and pressing gas pedal down but would not move. Had local towing and mechanic shop in gower missouri check transmission fluid level in which was found to be a quart low on transmission fluid. Car had been extremely well maintained and all recommended maintenance services completed by previous owners. Able to drive car in all other gears, codes p0007 code appear with no check engine light or any type of warning or indication that a problem was present within my 2005 Chrysler 300 3. 5l v6 rwd car with the 42rle transmission my vehicle also has issues occur suddenly regarding front end suspension has death shake and very loud clinking popping banging noises while driving at all speeds. Steering wheel has a weird squeek/creeking noise when turning the wheel at times and feels like steering is loose. Tie rod end and sway link bar on front passenger right side of vehicle is bent opposite direction it is supposed to and car also has higher rpm than normal and shifting at higher rpms. Went into limp mode twice which I reset myself due to having an emergency where I had to drive it. With the suspension and steering issues it causes a safety risk due to sway link and tie rod end breaking causing vehicle to crash and wheel to detach from vehicle. Transmission gear loss due to transmission fluid leaking and gear linkage issues causes safety risk due to the event of reversing to move out of the way and to avoid potential harm to passengers (my 5 young children) within the vehicle in the event the vehicle can't move from the place parked. The vehicle is available to be inspection and has been checked out by 3 different mechanic shops located in gower, saint joseph, and savannah missouri all in which stateed verbally that low fluid due to leak somewhere from transmission and poor linkage components within gear solenoid and possible pcm and mil issues to be at fault of vehicle mufacture.

I was driving down the road and my vehicle died. Now it does every time I come to a complete stop. The steering makes a clicking noise when I turn.
In March 2019 I took my car to the dealership because a chromed section on the steering wheel was peeling back and had caused me to cut my thumb on it. They looked at the car and they also called on my extended warranty and was told it would not be covered because it was cosmetic in nature. I tried working directly with the warranty (zurich) personnel and they seemed at first as though they would try to assist and then decided not to. I did not pursue it any further since. About a month ago I was driving the vehicle and my right hand thumb ran across another section of the steering wheel and it put a considerable cut in my thumb. I have a photo of that as well as the piece that broke off in my thumb. This problem is not cosmetic in nature but really is a safety issue. I am not sure if this is what is causing the problem but the steering wheel has the heated feature and I use it all the time in the winter. It does seem to get very warm from the heat and I am not sure if that could be contributing to the problem. I am very upset about the fact that this problem is something that will continue to get worse over time as the chrome plating continues to peel away. The problem does not exist from neglectful use, is very real, and again should be looked at from a safety standpoint. When I was driving the last time it happened, it caused a quick reaction to look down at my thumb to see what happened and certainly distracted my driving that suddenly. I would appreciate this being looked into for me as well any other driver that may have had similar problems.

I got in one day and my power steering was gone and I had to go work and on my way to work it came on and back off making me loose control of the car.
On Monday morning December 23rd approximately 4:15 am. On a rainy weather condition, I was driving on the 91 eastbound freeway going about 60 mph, I was on the 3rd middle lane, near green river road, all of a sudden my steering wheel felt as if it locked on me, my car started to veer to the left and I couldn't break or release the steering wheel, I knew I had lost control at this point, bracing myself, I hit the head on the center divider, I spun out of control ended by hitting the rail on the right shoulder, full impact. My bags did not deploy, I have a chest contusion as a result of me hitting the steering wheel full force and compression fracture on my thoracic vertebra number 7 as confirmed by the CT body scan/x-ray from the er. Please, someone needs to help me out here.

Vehicle intermittently stalls when slowing for a stop or accelerating after a stop or slowing down to turn a corner. Has happened 4 times after being fixed by dealer. Did meet with service director but have not had any response. No power when it happens. . All instances are on city paved streets. Restarts on first try. Check fuel light comes on but check engine light does not. Dealer has worked on it 3 times and replaced parts but it has not fixed the problem. They really have no idea what is going on.

Speed-sensitive power steering appears to bind at approximately 50 mph when merging onto highway offramp. Delicately applying force toward desired direction will reengage steering but care must be taken not to overcompensate and force immediately released in order to make or continue desired turn.

On my way to work I stopped and put $15 dolalrs in the tank I was just below a half tank now. I drove roughly 5-10miles and when I was driving around 30mph the oil can light came on and then my steering got tight and brakes got tight. It was like they went out. My car engine then shut off and I coasted to the shoulder the best I could. This almost caused a large accident. I tried starting the car immediately after it made noise but would not start a couple minutes later I started it and the car started fine.
Car was in motion when the gear shifted from drive to stop causing the car to come to an abrupt stop. The wiper blades came on by themselves, the gear shift indicators began blinking off and on, the transmission monitor began stating that do not turn the car off, then began flashing: proceed to destination , turn car off to turn to start car, check engine light began flashing and the power steering indicator began flashing on . After about twenty minutes I was able to get the shift indicator to shift into gear so that I could get the car out of the street. I have taken it to the shop this issue have been happening at needs to be investigated.
