Two problems related to transmission not go into gear have been reported for the 2007 Chrysler 300C. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Car operated as expected on 7/2 and was parked in garage overnight. On 7/3 operator was able to start the car but operator could not shift out of park. The car is stuck in park and cannot be shifted into another gear. There is a current recall for this exact same issues for cars with a build date from June 25, 2007 through September 21, 2007. This recall is named k39, and the letter is attached. The build date of my car with the same problem is October 11, 2006. The suggested override method did not resolve the issue (depressing pink lever on shifter assembly).
The shift level is stuck in park. With the brake pressed, it will move right but not down into gear. If I take my foot off the brake, it will not move to the right at all. The recognition of the brake be depressed appears to be working. I was 120 miles from home so I took the console apart around the gear shifter and found a cable that I could pull backwards and then was able to shift out of park.
