The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler 300m. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph she heard a loud banging noise and the steering wheel became very stiff. The vehicle was shut off and towed to her home. An independent mechanic examined the vehicle and informed the contact that one of the bolts within the steering column was dislodged. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The failure and current mileages were 83,000.

In backing out of parking space, turned wheel, heard faint pop and then noticed that I had no steering at all. Car was towed to dealer that did regular service. I was informed that power steering rack had failed. This part had previously been replaced by same dealer in Feb 2003 when I reported whineing noise from steering to them.
