While driving steering wheel locked up bacause of a two inch play in steering wheel. Dealer contacted. Steering wheel binds after making a turn; require a jerk to turn the wheel back. Rack & pinion unit was the problem.

While driving 30 mph consumer heard a clicking sound coming from steering wheel. Then, consumer was able to spin steering wheel all the way around, no control what so ever. Vehicle at dealer at this time. Dealer stated that the steering wheel broke, causing vehicle to be uncontrollable, vehicle only had 3500 mile at the time of failure.
Due to ice inside the rubber boot of the rack and pinion steering, steering column locked up . Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.
