My 1998 Chrysler Concorde started using oil at 70,000 miles it now has 90,000 miles and now uses 1-qt of oil every 500 miles all reports I read say that the engine is ready to fail I have always changed oil every 3,000 miles and maintained the vehicle to mfg specs so I cannot be to blame.

Car engine seized due to sludge build up. I've only had the car for 10 months before this happened. I've done the proper maintenance to it, ie. Oil changes. And the place where the car is currently sitting, they refuse to honor my extended warranty due to sludge build up.
Engine in my chrystler Concorde seized up while I was driving it. I had it towed to a dealer and they said it was nothing I did. They said the timing chain slipped causing the motor to spin.

I was driving at 65 mph on the turnpike and the car loss compression. I heard something clanking around and I was able to pull off the road. The mechanic said it spun a rod and the crankshaft is damage.
The connecting rod bearings in my 1998 concord failed, causing excessive knocking and loss of oil pressure leading to noise in the top end. . Because of the high demand for these 2. 7 liter engines the repair cost is impossible for me.
My 2000 Concorde had to have the engine replaced at only 36,000 miles. Maintenance was done routinely and the off brand warranty company refused to pay because sludge in the engine. I really took care of this car and it failed me.
I have a 2000 Chrysler Concorde with a 2. 7 engine that is sludged. I have changed my oil properly but do not have but 2 or 3 receipts. I have an extended warranty and that company has denied the claim. I am a realtor and must have a car, this has been a great hardship and when the engine started to go I was on the expressway. The warranty company nor Chrysler is standing behind the product. I have basically been called a liar by the dealership and the warranty company because we don't have receipts. The car is just sitting because I cannot afford a new engine. I have done research and there are a lot of the 2. 7 engines that have gone out like mine. Something needs to be done, other companies stand behind their auto products but Chrysler is not. I still owe on the car and have to pay the payment and insurance. Chrysler consumers need help please.
My Chrysler Concorde(2000) just up and died on the side of the highway a couple of months ago. It was due to oil sludge. We got the oil changed every three thousand miles and it threw a rod. The mechanics said it will take 4000 to fix but I can't afford it. So I have been paying on a car that I can't drive. The car only has about 70000 miles on it. The oil was changed aabout a month before this happened. Nothing has been done to the car because I can't afford it. It lost all power on the highway as my wife drove it and had to be towed.
My 2000 Chrysler concord engine began a loud knocking, after taking it to a mechanic, he informed us that the engine was shot (possibly a rod). I have read "coutless" accounts of this problem. I paid for a year and a half for a car I can not even drive. Why with so many complaints about these engines isn't something being done? something needs to be done, and amends need to be made. Ak.
My brother was driving my car on the expressway, he was going about 70 mph when the engine locked up and had to keep the car under control until he could get the car to the side of the road. Thank god he or know one else was hurt. The car is a Chrysler Concorde 2000 with a 2. 7 liter engine.
Defective engine leading to complete failure. The car has 81,000 miles on it. He engine will have to be replaced.

My car a 1999 chysler concord has approximately 70,000 miles on it. It has used oil ever since 30,000 miles mark I'm talking 3 quarts per oil change. I see in chyslers memo to dealers this is acceptable it should use 1 qt. Per 750 miles. At that rate it's empty on oil by oil change time at 3000 miles. Now I'm driving and a rod bearing goes out. Again another well known and documented problem with the 2. 7 l engine. Here I sit making $400. 00 payments on a car I can't afford to fix ($4000. 00) to replace engine. Please help us to get a much needed recall!! thank you.

The engine of my 2000 Chrysler concord failed while I was driving the car on October 13, 2004. I have slightly over 60,000 miles on the car and it is 4 1/2 years old. I had the car towed to my dealership. Upon inspection, they stated that they "found engine sludged up causing minimal amount of oil pressure (rod bearings and timing chain bad)" they stated the engine needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $7000 plus tax. The service manager, pete, said that this engine is a continual problem and that they hate to see these cars come in for repair. I had the automobile towed to a private repair shop on October 19,2004 for a second opinion. The repair shop came back with the same issue and a repair estimate of $5400. The repair shop also stated that they have done several of these engine replacements to the Chrysler 2. 7l engine. That there engine has a very poor design that leads to sludge pulling into the engine even with regular and timely oil changes. It is a problem of the engineering design of the engine. I have performed the oil changes on the vehicle based on the recommended miles in the owners manual. I still owe about $4800 on a vehicle that does not run due to a manufacturing defect. Chrysler refuses to extend their warrenty. There should be no need to replace such a low mileage engine that has been properly cared for.
On two occasions vehicle completely shut off while driving. First time happened while pulling into ongoing traffic which almost led to a collision. Second time it happened again, but traffic was normal. Vehicle been in dealer shop on two occasions, and parts were replaced on both times. But, problem is still reoccurring.

Consumer started the vehicle, put the defroster on and the vehicle caught on fire.
Engine filled with sludge, causing the engine to fail completely. It was diagnosed as the pistons going through the valves. Also, vehicle was hit in the rear, causing the front seats to break off the floor. The entire track assembly had to be replaced along with the motors underneath.
The number 4 cylinder failed causing the vehicle to loose all power while driving. Nlm.
