Hood problems of the 1999 Chrysler LHS

Seven problems related to hood have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler LHS. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Hood problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2006

Driving on I-393,west bound at 60 mph, in the rain, when the plastic molding along the hood of '99 Chrysler Lhs detached and hit the windshield wipers causing the car to swerve towards the side of the road bed and almost causing the car to over-turn.

2 Hood problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2006

: the contact stated while driving the vehicle 57 mph the hood molding broke and flew across the vehicle on a busy interstate. The vehicle was taken to the dealership however, no repairs were made. The manufacturer has been alerted. Updated 03/28/06.

3 Hood problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2004

Hood molding broke free from it's mounting clasps at highway speed and flew off. It hit the windshield and if there would have been a car behind us there could of been an accident.

4 Hood problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2003

Driving down the highway at 65 mph, cowl and molding between the hood and windshield blew off for no apparent reason. Warranty on vehicle has expired due to mileage. Consumer was seeking reimbursement for the replacement part for $128. 80, which was denied by daimlerchrysler. In addition, the consumer requested an investigation be opened to see if their complaint warranted a recall.

5 Hood problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2003

Hood molding (part #4805701aa) flew into windshield and over car while driving in traffic at highway speeds. No warning.

6 Hood problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2000

Hood moulding is loose and comes off at highway speeds and can crack, comes through windshield affecting driver causing injury or death.

7 Hood problem

While traveling and without any indication hood metal strip flew off.
