1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. While approaching a stop, the vehicle stalled and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the error codes as p401 and p172. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure was related to NHTSA campaign numbers: 03v471000 (fuel system) and 04v113000 (power train). The failure mileage was 160,000.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2013

I have almost been in four accidents in the past week and a half due to my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica stalling in the middle of intersections and roads without warning. As I accelerate the car starts to hesitate, sputter and then just dies out. The last time it did this in the middle of a busy road with cars going by at 50mph, I had two good samaritans and two police officers that were nearby help me to safety where I had to have the vehicle towed back to my home where it sits today. The first time it happened the check engine light came on, it said bad crankshaft sensor, so I replaced it. The second time it happened it said bad camshaft, so I replaced it. The third time it happened it said bad camshaft sensor again, so I replaced thinking I bought a defective one. This did not work either as the car ended up stalling for good two days ago. I know there have been recalls in the past for this exact stalling condition of the engine, but Chrysler says my car did not show up as one of the recalled ones. I find this very concerning that this dangerous condition would not be covered by Chrysler when they know it has been an issue on thousands of other similar Pacificas.

3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2012

After replacing a both motor mounts in July of 2012. They broke again in November 2012!! this time it was so bad that when I turned the corner the engine died and would not start back up. Eventually after trying to turn it over so many time the battery died. We had to have it towed to the shop after the holidays to find out how much it would cost to fix ($1200) and exactly what the issue was. The tech informed me that besides the mounts being broke, when I turned the corner the engine lifted and cut thru all of the wires leading to the failure of the car's power control module. This resulted in a loss of speedometer, other electrical functions, and the loss of three ignition coils. I just want to know why they keep making "rubber" engine mounts if the damn things are useless in the first place? there has to be a reason all these cars are having the same issue and if I had known about this before I financed this "pos", I would never have put my childrens lives in danger. !! I had the car fixed and everything was going fine until last night, once again! I was driving on the highway and some stupid person slammed on her brakes in front of me so I hit mine and when I did my car lunged forward and I heard the god awful "pop" sound again!!! now I am back to square one and within a years time this car will have had 3 sets of motor mounts put on it. Someone please tell me there is not a defect somewhere, because whoever handles these issues at daimler/Chrysler needs to drive one of these cars for themselves and see what we have been dealing with for so long. Also, another issue is the check engine light and it has to do with a very small leak inside the gas tank. I have been told this is a recall, but have not been able to get anyone to fix it. I just want some answers, more so for my kids sake so I can try and get it fixed completely or a new car so they are out of harms way.

4 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

1st time: driving straight around 20-45 mph when engine light came on & engine started acting up. Stopped shortly at a stop light & engine died. Had to wait several minutes before the engine would start & engine light stayed on until we got to auto mechanic's shop approx 2 miles away. Multiple times in the last 2 months: sometimes engine light comes on as we are stopping or decelerating or turning left after a stop light changes. Engine then acts up & subsequently dies shortly after that. After a few minutes we are able to start it & drive it home or to the dealer. Both the auto mechanic's & at the Chrysler dealer's diagnostic machines identified fault code "p0508 iac circuit low" & told us we had to change out the idle control motor (Chrysler part # 4593851-aa). We have had this part changed out & the throttle body cleaned twice now with no resolution of the problem. We also have noticed on occasion when we have our foot on the brake at a stop, the engine may arbitrarily race for a couple of seconds. Fortunately our foot is on the brake when this happens.

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2011

Starting in 2011 my Pacifica's electrical systems seem to be shutting down. First I lost the ability to open windows or use power locks on the passenger side. Next I lost the cruise control function. Now my check engine light appears intermittently. Most recently the air bag light and alarm comes on but only intermittently.

6 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact noticed that the check engine light was illuminated. Subsequently, the contact's mechanic monitored the light for approximately one week. The mechanic was able to retrieve a service bulletin, and the code indicated that when a consumer placed 12 gallons of fuel or less in the vehicle, the check engine light would illuminate. The contact had to pay $70 to have the engine reset. He consulted Chrysler initially for reimbursement, but then for an explanation as to why the feature caused the light to illuminate. Chrysler responded that the vehicle was out of warranty and they denied his request for reimbursement. He informed the dealer that the vehicle did not malfunction because, as he was informed, the vehicle was supposed to perform in that manner. Therefore, the warranty was not an issue. The VIN, purchase date, and engine size were unknown. The current mileage was 64,500 and failure mileage was 64,000.

7 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2007

On several (10+) occasions in the last month, our car has lost power while driving from what appears to be a fuel starvation issue. On the last event we were nearly rear-ended by following cars due to the sporadic acceleration/deceleration. I have brought the Pacifica to the dealer twice to have the problem diagnosed and have been told twice that no problem can be found and the computer does not indicate a "fault code" for why the check engine light is on.

8 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2005

After having my Pacifica for 1. 5 years and experiencing 19 problems (54 days in the shop!); 2-3 of which are recurring (I. E. The engine light coming on), even the service department at my dealership stated that they would stand behind my efforts to get a vehicle replacement! we are completely happy with the dealership's service as they have stood behind this "lemon" better than the manufacturer appears to be able to. After talking with the Chrysler representative, mr. Craig kishner, I was informed that the "best" Chrysler could do was to refund my extended warranty price. I pushed back and my boyfriend also called to announce our dismay at the manner in which we are being treated after being tremendously patient for 1. 5 years to see if this "lemon" could be repaired to a reasonable level of usability. Mr kishner then came back with the answer that Chrysler would only "step up" for the previously laughable answer. We had hoped for a laudable answer. I find it difficult to believe that a manufacturer, with the questionable track record of Chrysler, would want to create more adverse publicity than they already have chalked up over the course of their existence. Nonetheless, we will pursue this through the courts and undoubtedly tell all of our friends and business colleauges of this horrific experience.

9 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2003

While driving at 70 mph engine check light came on, then the vehicle started to jerk and stall. Driver pulled off the road. Consumer has contacted the dealership on two separate occasions, but the problem still occurs.
