36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2014

While I was driving down the road my car stalled and then cut off in the middle of the road. My car started back up right away but as I continue to drive home it continued to stall and shut off. Thank god there was not very many cars on the road because someone could have gotten seriously hurt. My car has been down since April 2014 and it is now September 2014. My husband and I have put so much money into this car because the mechanics can't figure out the problem. We have had replaced the egr valve, O2 censors, throttle position sensors, idle air control valve, and a tune up and my car still runs the same, like crap. The computer is not diagnosing the car properly and neither are the mechanics.

37 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

While driving approximately 55-60 mph on the highway, through a very dangerous curve (s-curve), in rush hour traffic, my vehicle just shut off. After safely pulling over (difficultly) and stopping I let it sit while calling my husband. Then the vehicle started back up no problem after about 5 minutes, from that point forward the vehicle would only stay running for 5-7 minutes, then while trying to diagnose the problem the vehicle would only stay running for 3-5 seconds and now sometimes won't even start at all. After finally towing to a dealership believing it was the skim module we were told that it is the power train control module that is bad and would need to be replaced. In researching this problem I find that there has been a recall on the same vehicle and year for these same exact type issues, but have been told now by 2 dealerships and the daimler Chrysler corporation that my specific vehicle checked by the VIN # is not part of the recall.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2014

I own a 2006 Chrysler pacific. While traveling 35 mph the abs lights, and brake lights illuminated, followed by a chime noise that sounded through out the vehicle. Then a ticking noise prior to the vehicle loosing all electrical power, this happens everyday! this a very dangerous situation and when this happens I have to sit and wait for awhile, once for more than 30 min then car cuts back on and works fine until the abs lights, come on and the engine light followed by the chimes and the ticking the car cuts off again. Can not get a mechanic to fix it they have told me that there is no way to fix it that Chrysler knows about the recall and refuses to do anything about it. I have had the battery replaced. Problem #2 is the mounts that hold the motor are corroded and rusted. I was told that this is another defect and there have been instances where the motor just falls out. Two mounts have been replaced but I still hear the knocking and a pulling sensation sometimes. First incident was in January the past two months it happens everyday at least once a day where the car just cuts off.

39 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2013

This issue has now happened multiple times. While driving the car, it will completely shutdown (stall). I have been able to get the car over to the side of the road every time. I can turn the key off and then restart the vehicle without issue.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2013

First began 11/2013 when headed out after picking up my daughter, slowed to enter left turn lane (on major busy intersection at night!) and entire car simply died - fried the battery (it was only a yr old & the second time I had replaced it since I purchased it two yrs prior from original owner) nearly was hit by several cars before tow truck arrived (so dead couldn't even be shifted into neutral!) after multiple opinions by several mechanics had to face the fact that issue w/rods caused metal pieces to infiltrate oil (all oil changes on time, previous before incident 6 week prior) causing all engine bears to go. Luckily, was able to work out a fairly decent deal to the tune of $1200, only to be faced w/multiple additional needed repairs thereafter and over a year later, I'm still trying to get to the bottom of why engine totally stalls when coming to a complete stop if my a/c is on - check engine light has been on since I purchased it & still won't stay off despite multiple re-sets & computer checks, as is abs light (again, checked multiple times & since no issue I have left it as is) now battery light also comes on intermittently. All codes come back fine, and hoses & seals all fine. . . . As of two days ago, seems I'm now looking at engine cradle issue as well! nearly $3000 in (just counting these latest issues!) after replacing battery for a third time & tire replacement (all 4) twice within a year, in addition to breaks & rotors for 2nd time in 2 years . . . Seems to be a common problem w/these vehicles and yet my VIN # isn't included in the recall. . . Shame on you Chrysler. . . . I am a single mother, who has had all regular maintenance and upkeep & cannot afford to continue to throw $ into this issue, and am afraid every time my kids are in the car that the stalling issues will cause a horrible accident!.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2013

My vehicle stalls at the first movement from a long parked position. I have had the sensor fixed and fuel pump replaced. These things helped temporarily. It is now doing the same things. I noticed a recall for the power train of 2006 model Chrysler Pacifica but when I enter my VIN it states my vehicle is not in the recall. I believe my vehicle has a faulty power train.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled as the service immobilizer warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power train module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired but did not resolve the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 92,000.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2013

I was in the bank drive thru with my car in park. I went to put the car into drive and it wouldn't shift out of park. I called aaa and when the tow truck man arrived and I told him what the problem was, he told me he knew exactly what had happened. . . The red clip inside the gearshift box had broken. He said it happens all the time to Pacificas and 3000s and it's a factory recall issue. He was able to get it into gear for me so I could drive home, but it is broken and won't shift out of park (without trying his temporary "fix"). I came home and went online to search the recall (because I don't remember ever getting a recall letter) and I can't find anything. Based on what this driver told me, this is an ongoing issue with certain Chrysler cars (including mine) and should be a manufacturer's recall.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2013

I had my car in park, waiting in line at a drive thru. When I tried to put it in drive, it would not shift out of park. I called aaa and the tow truck operator came. Upon hearing the issue, he immediately told me he knew what it was because "he deals with this all the time with 3000's and Pacificas. . . And it's a recall issue). He lifted the trim around the gear box and showed me that the "red clip" had broken. I have not seen a recall for this issue, but I need to know if Chrysler is honoring this defect, which I've been told is a huge problem with different Chrysler vehicles.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2013

After reading several recall on this issue. That you can find on this web site and automobilemag. Com I contacted the Chrysler corporation with even a recall id#38454 and recall # 06v43200 they are not willing to help me with the issue. They stated that there isn't a such recall. Who can I contact.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact check engine and gas cap warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the fuel pump module needed to be replaced. The contact spoke to the manufacturer regarding NHTSA campaign id number:06v432000(power train), but was told the vehicle was not included. The failure and current mileages were 100,000.

47 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2013

The vehicle was purchased June 11, 2013 and had the rear passenger tire replaced due to unfix-able flat tire. The dealer had me take vehicle to peerless tires CO. The tire was replaced with wrong size and different brand of tire. Traveling during thunderstorm approximately 3,5 weeks after purchasing vehicle; the computer appeared to lock when vehicle slipped on pavement as awd attempted to engage causing loss of steering and power then skidded off the road. I made claim through my insurance and had vehicle inspected by local shop, and I had my mechanic look to see if damage to vehicle was noticeable was not handling correctly after accident. When accelerates or decelerates the vehicle will lunge forward. Took vehicle to peerless tire CO. After mechanic pointed out the wrong size and model of tire on rear passenger side of vehicle. After accepting fault wanted to take vehicle to brian's paint and body to pay for the repairs. When the estimate was being done and vehicle was on lift. . . Brian and mechanic pointed out the whole motor carriage had completely rusted out and corroded. They had not seen anything like it. Took vehicle back to dealer and explained this issue. Had to go ahead with insurance claim and wait for adjustors to determine fault of accident. The vehicle is totally unsafe to drive, feels like the engine is tipping forward when accelerating or decelerating. After researching this issue im shocked and appalled that 2 previous model years have same issues which are not being addressed for the 2006. I don't want this vehicle repaired I want out from under it, since it was sold unsafe and is a reoccurring problem even after having motor mounts replaced and undercarriage treated or replaced. I expect more from mopar period.

48 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine stalled with prior warning. The vehicle restarted and resumed normally. The failure recurred intermittently when making a left turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to duplicate the problem. There was a recall related to the failure under NHTSA campaign id number 06v432000 (power train). However, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

49 Power Train problem

50 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2013

After starting the vehicle and placing into reverse the vehicle immediately stalls. Stalling has also occured while driving. In addition to this problem I have replaced the engine motor mounts 3 times.

51 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle would lose acceleration power sporadically and while driving at any speed. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was test driven by the dealer, but the failure did not duplicate. The dealer advised the contact that the computer memory was delaying and caused the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would not shift from park. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number 06v432000 (power train). The approximate failure mileage was 84,650 and the current mileage was 104,000.

52 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2013

Since I have owned the vehicle (2013) there have been problems with getting the car running again. First while in motion the vehicle would tremor (in the front) before shutting down, particularly if going above 25-30 mph. When the car was shut off by key ignition and turned back on it would start again. Codes for oxygen sensor would come up, had that fixed. Problem began again a few months later. Multiple times while driving on the highway/open road the sensors on the panel all lite up and the car shut down. I had the alternator replaced twice for this issue; thinking that was the problem. Prior to the second alternator rebuild/replacement the fuel gauge would fluctuate after reaching half a tank. Most of the time it would read empty when the tank was half full; or empty when the tank is full. I noticed the gauge would drop if a turn was made or the car hit a bump/pot hole in the city street/highway. I attempted to replicate conditions to get the gauge to go back to normal, this did not always work. Occasionally it would wave around while driving. The car began to read code for fuel system issues. Had this tested, fuel system was fine; yet problem consisted. With a half full tank, the car would repeatedly read empty, not allow any additional gas to be put into the tank (would cut off at pump as if tank were full), and shut down while driving in different road conditions as if there were no gas in the car. Right now the gas gauge continues to read empty when there is gas in the tank, I have trouble filling the tank as it cuts off the pump repeatedly not allowing new gas to be put in, the car cuts off often while driving.

53 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2013

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was merged to the shoulder and the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where a diagnostic test was performed and the mechanic stated that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact that there was a recall for the failure under NHTSA campaign number: 06v432000 (power train) however, the contact's VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 58,000. Kmj.

54 Power Train problem

Also, in February 2013, the catalytic converter was replaced at a cost of $800 and the brake system was replaced at a cost of $500. 00.

55 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2013

Noticed a couple of times that the car hesitated when merging on to highway or accelerating on the highway. Today however, it did that in town, going about 35 mph and then stalled, check engine light came on and smoke came out from under the hood. Now it won't even start.

56 Power Train problem

57 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2012

We have had multiple issues with this vehicle since we purchased it. First issue was the cv boots that had completely disintegrated. This occured 62,123 miles. Next issue that is still occuring today and deeply concerns me is that the accelerator pedal sticks from time to time. Not sure what causes that to happen but it scares the living day lights out of me on a weekly basis. Shortly after that the check engine light came on and the panel read gascap. Well we bought a new gas cap and the issue was not resolved. Since then we were told it was the fuel pump that needed to be replaced. Again, more money out of our pocket so unfortunatly we have not had the repair done since we don't have the money to pay for it. Next and biggest issue off all is that while driving down our street I heard a noise that concerned me. When I got home there was a tapping under the hood, the tapping has been continuous since then. The original milage at that time was 85,625 miles. After multiple trips to several different mechanics it has been diagnosed as a tapping lifter. Well this is a very very expensive repair. So easiest thing for us to do is to trade in our car. . . . Not the case. Our car now has no trade-in value because of the lifter issue. I am beside myself and I firmly believe that these are all issues that Chrysler should address under warranty. The maintance on our vehicle is done on a regular basis to avoid issues like this. I feel quite cheated by Chrysler and wish I could request a refund for all of the repairs we have had to do while owning this vehicle.

58 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power and stalled without warning while driving 40 mph. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but was unable to shift the gear into drive or reverse. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and the current mileage was 70,000.

59 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2012

The gear shift on the center console will not come out of park. I went out to start the car to go to work and the car would start up, but I couldn't shift out of park. I removed the trim to expose the quick release button and that didn't work either. After researching the issue, I've found that a lot of people with Chrysler Pacifica's have experienced this issue. I called a couple of dealerships and they had just received cars that very day with the same issue. I also learned that Dodge's have been experiencing this same issue and a recall has been issued on them. I am writing so that this issue can be investigated further and a recall issued.

60 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2012

While in reverse in parking lot, car stalled causing loss of braking power and vehicle rolled into another parked vehicle. Since incident, when vehicle is placed into reverse, vehicle immediately stalls. Also, motor mounts have broken and this appears to be a big issue with the Pacificas.

61 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that she could not shift out of park. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the transmission interlock lever failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were 27,900.

62 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2011

Front engine mount separates under heavy acceleration or towing causing engine to raise up and collide into firewall.

63 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2011

While driving my Pacifica at 60 mph the vehicle suddenly jerked and the check engine light came on and the engine was reving high so I slowed down and it was tacking at 6000 rpm while only going 40 mph. I stopped and turned the engine off. When I restarted it it shifted normally. A few days later it did it again. Then it did it twice in one day. I took it to Chrysler and they said there was internal damage and they wanted $1000 just to drop the transmission before they fixed anything. This accurred when the vehicle had 80000 miles on it. When it only had 36000 miles the engine threw a rod and I had to spend $3000 for a new engine. I've since learned that Pacifica's burn a quart of oil about every 1000 miles. I would have checked the oil more often had I known this. I traded it in rather then replace the transmission. But not on a chrylser.

64 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2011

All motor mounts on our Chrysler pacfica broken after only 60000 miles!!! this condition could cause an unknowing motorist an accident. Very dangerous condition. Also same vehicle had broken gear shift stranding my family for hours and could not be repaired without changing the unit. Poorly designed and a constant drain on our finances. Government owned???.

65 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2010

Driving my car, no noticeable problems. I pulled into my driveway and I saw a lot of fluid on the driveway. I was extremely concerned, checked all my fluids which were ok. Took the car to the dealer and they couldn't find a problem. I then started noticing the car riding "rough" and idling rough along with a 'banging" when starting or stopping at redlights. Took the car to the local mechanic who was not told anything about these issues (there for unrelated item) and was informed I have a bad motor mount. He asked if I noticed 3 specific items. . Uh. . Yah. . . All the things I told the dealer! waiting for him to check over the entire car right now to see if anything else is wrong. (problem with the heat and I think with my suspension). Also, the heat will not stop blowing on the windshield (defrost) barely gives off heat to feet etc. Got so hot it melted the plastic on the dashboard where the defrost emits from. . . Dealer "can not duplicate the problem" but yet all I do is turn on the car, sit there 5 minutes and try to turn the heat to anywhere other than defrost and it's blatantly obvious as you can't breathe from the amount of hot air still blowing in your face off the windshield. Currently have local mechanic looking at it. Previous local mechanic found issue but wouldn't tear the dashboard apart to figure out how to fix it. Recommended dealer as I have an extended warranty. Dealer charged $88 dollars to look at car for all above issues and said nothing is wrong . . . Rather "can not duplicate the problem". Bull!.

66 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2009

One rocker arm (lifter) went out in July 09. We replaced the faulty rocker arm. Just two weeks ago, all rocker arms went out, including the one that was recently replaced. This has caused my 06 Chrysler Pacifica to not turn over and not start. Both the battery and starter have been tested and are fine. All rocker arms are now being replaced at a cost of over $1000 with only 43k miles on the vehicle. When we asked the dealership why the brand new rocker arm (lifter) had failed, they said it was because the entire mechanism with the rocker arms has a faulty design.

67 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and was able to be restarted. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump, water pump, cam shaft sensor, catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, timing belt, pvc valve, and multiple other parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 06v432000 (power train), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown.

68 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2009

At 40,000 miles car started making ticking noise. Took it to my personal mechanic and he determined the lifters needed changing. Replaced the lifters then again at 60,000 miles the car had the same problem. This time I had a certified mechanic from work call a friend at the Dodge dealership and he acknowledged that Chrysler was having a problem with the lifters and that there was a repair kit available through Chrysler. I have had the car back for 2 weeks now with no problems so far. The mechanic visually confirmed that the retaining pins of the shaft were indeed sheared, thus blocking the oil galley and the flow of oil to the lifters. My opinion is why would Chrysler come out with this repair kit if there was no wide spread problem.

69 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2009

Upon hearing ticking noise, we took our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica into the dealer. We were told that this is a common problem caused by a broken retaining pin on the rocker arm shaft. When the pin breaks, the shaft can spin that may block oil passage the rocker arms (which causes the ticking noise). The rocker arm shafts were replaced by the dealer. Now, we are having problems involving the pedestal kit. Please look into this problem. I believe it should be recalled. Thank you, nicole schilt.
