Stopped vehicle and van automatically went into park. Occasionally vehicle will not start when brake/button pressed. Radio goes on by itself frequently while driving. While driving, parking assist went off by itself.
On September 16, 2019 near 10 am my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica was parked in family garage since the 13th without being driven. The key fob didn't work and no power was available to start or accessories. An attempt was made to jump it with cables from my wife's car and it would not start. Tow was request to near by Dodge dealer jack phelan in countryside, ill. Early afternoon two different tow truck companies were summoned and they both were unsuccessful in jumping it. After two days they stated the batteries were defective and both needed replacement. Still under warranty otherwise cost was given as over $600. 00.
At least 6 times in the past 8 months the vehicle has failed to start. It behaves as if both batteries are dead. After using a trickle charger I can get the car to start. It's been returned to the dealer numerous times. Each time they report that they charged the batteries and everything is fine and Chrysler will not let them replace either battery since "no error code is reported". Supposedly they checked the charging system as well as looked for a parasitic draw and found nothing. We are afraid to use the vehicle lest we get stuck far from home. In desperation I replaced the main battery at my expense. In all cases the problem occurred when the vehicle was parked in our drive. Some cases overnight and others after returning from an errand run.
Vehicle started having issues starting, the vehicle would not start once the start button was pushed. Once it did start and put into reverse or drive the vehicle would not move. I would have to turn the vehicle off, and on again several times before it would start. The vehicle would shut off and then turn back on while on the interstate whenever speed was reduced. The headlights would spontaneously shut off at night while driving, and could not be turned back on. The inside dash lights would also turn off making for a very unsafe situation. The air control also did not work properly. It would be very hot at 68 degrees, and would not blow a steady flow of air. It will speed up then slow down.
While pressing the gas going from 1st to 2nd gear the vehicle makes a sudden jerking motion almost stalling, transmission issues since purchased. Back passenger sliding door has not always closed successfully, since purchase, causing safety concerns. Vehicle will not start all the time without unplugging the "brain". Gear shift light is not always on. Brakes have had to be replaced due to an air intake issue.
Several times while driving, the car has lost all electrical power. Car was purchased new in may 2016. 1) when driving at approx 50mph, the vehicle lost all internal power - radio, lights, gauges, etc. Braking and steering were unaffected. Pulled over and shut off vehicle. After 5 minutes, restarted normally. In response to this, the dealer replaced the instrument cluster. This was the first incident, occurring summer 2017. 2) when driving in a parking lot, approx 10mph, the vehicle lost all power and came to an abrupt stop. Passengers were disturbed and concerned, but not injured. After a few minutes, the vehicle restarted normally. 3) when idling (stopped) in a drive-thru line, the car lost all power. No controls in the vehicle worked, nor did the keyfob. Car would not restart. Driver opened and re-closed the vehicle door, at which time the vehicle restarted with a quick succession of error messages on the instrument cluster regarding the liftgate and other systems. This is the most recent incident, occurring 30-April-2018. This is a safety concern, making us hesitant and scared to drive the vehicle. Please help.
The car failed to start. I was not able to press the brake down at all to start the car. I tried 3 times then let it sit for a few minutes and tried again. It finally started. The power doors wouldnt work and the battery meter was going crazy from zero to midway. Power was not consistent. It took a few minutes for my screen and reverse cam to come on. There was a loud pop like a power surge and the screen came on after that along with the radio. While driving on a city street the car completely died. This happened again further on my route home while turning car completely died and I had no control over the steering as well. I was not able to depress the brake to start it again for a few seconds. It finally started and the battery was running wonky the rest of the way home. The a/c was fading in and out as well. Car continues to have fluctuating battery power on startup.
We are on our second Pacifica after the first was bought back by Chrysler due to major electrical issues (vehicle would not start or function correctly, dealer couldn't fix it). Now on our second Pacifica we have had constant transmission issues. . . First transmission started slamming into gear (feels like you are being rear ended by another vehicle, this can be at slower speeds < 20 mph while going straight or turning), they reset computer, that didn't fix it, so then they replaced the valve body in the transmission (2 seperate shop trips). A couple months later it started slamming into gear again (slow speeds < 20, turning and going straight), so they replaced the transmission after putting us in a rental for another month, about 6 months later this transmission had the same exact issue, slamming into gear at low speeds (< 20, turning or going straight). So we are on our 2nd Pacifica and the 3rd transmission now and are still having the same issue as we initially had (slamming into gear like you are being rear ended at slow speeds < 20 going straight or turning)! there are serious issues with this transmission that Chrysler needs to resolve! this is not safe to drive the way it is, because you don't know the situation you will be driving in when it happens.
Vehicle engine and electrical system shut down while driving 35 mph in traffic. Total looks of power steering also occurred. Our family with small children also were in the car. This could have been much worse if it occurred at highway speeds on a busier road. Once stopped the dash alerted us to shift to park to restart vehicle. We did but car would not start. No attempt to turn over at all. Put flashers on and parts of dash, uconnect screen and interior lights flashed also. Car has 10,000 miles only and has been relatively trouble free to this point. I see many like complaints on this website and in online forums. To date it seems reading feedback from others affected, even after multiple occurrences and trips to the dealership, Chrysler has not identified a root cause or been able to permanently resolve the issue. This is a huge safety issue and we will not drive this car again without a definite resolution.
With only 7300 miles on the odometer, as of this writing 11-21-17, my Pacifica has failed to start on 4 separate occassions. With each event, all the warning lights on the main and radio dash lit up and flashed on and off. Also, the wiper blades came on and stayed on, not being able to shut off with the designated switch. As well, numerous "warning windows" popped up on the center dash info screen. . . Service electronic stability, park brake unavailable, blind spot alert unavailable service required, service tire pressure system, park sense unavailable, service air bag system, warning bells constantly chiming, entire dash goes completely dark and radio turns off and on by itself. The last attempt to start, 11-20-17, after numerous times in an hours time, the engine did start only to shut down almost immediately. The vehicle has been towed to my local Chrysler dealership twice now and is still there as of this writing. On the first event when towed in, I was told that a service writer also could not attempt to start the vehicle, but when the service tech tried, it did start. I was told to come pick up my vehicle that there were no error codes found and my vehicle was operating normally. I really dread the day when my Pacifica dies while driving, as that apparantly has happened to many dozens of other 2017 Pacificas already, placing the occupants in extreme danger. I just read an article in the new york times with regards to this dangerous issue and I near the point of demanding that Chrysler buy back my vehicle. I do have multiple videos taken on my cell phone but do not have the ability to upload them just yet.
2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Consumer writes in regards to electrical issues. The consumer stated the vehicle slams into gear. The transmission was replaced twice, but the failure recurred. There was a rattling noise under the driver's side. The vehicle failed to start leaving the driver and passenger's stranded.
Purchased a brand new Chrysler Pacifica vehicle 3 wks ago on may 18 2017. We headed out on vacation on the 20th of may. May 21 was the first incident on the interstate in chicago we stalled in the middle of traffic for approximately 10 minutes. May 27 we pulled up to a stoplight and the engine stalled out on us that lasted approximately 3 minutes, the same day at a tollbooth we stalled out which lasted about 25 minutes before the car would start again we ended up calling for a towing service but the car we started and we canceled the tow service. May 30 we left the grocery store the screen switch to the app page and would not switch back, the brakes locked and we lost engine power. That lasted 20 mins before car would start. June 7 car would not start after coming out of the grocery store waited 20 minutes then tried again car started 30 seconds after the ignition button has been pressed by itself. June 11 car stalled out pulling into the driveway. Took less then a minute to restart this time. We have taken the car into the dealer and the could find nothing and could not replicate. We now have to drive back from PA to nd with a vehicle I am afraid to drive with 6 kids. I am so upset and disappointed in this Chrysler product.
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. On several occasions, the vehicle would not start. In addition, after pressing the start button, the doors locked but could not be unlocked from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the failures were unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 3,200.
