This is the second complaint I have filed in 24 hours. I believe I am having a known problem/recall in my vehicle: engine stall due to software issue an engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. Nhtsa campaign number: 18v049000 I drove about 3 miles. Parked my vehicle and pushed the button to open the sliding back door. When I pushed the button the entire vehicle turned off including the engine and all the lights. Nothing on the dash remained lit. I tried to restart it and nothing happened. No sounds, click or lights appeared. I opened my door and waited about a minute then the interior lights turned on. The sliding back door had to be manually pulled shut at this point. I tried to start the vehicle again and nothing happened. I tried again and it hesitated, then started. I was able to drive about 10 miles to work after that.
While the vehicle was in motion on the highway, the uconnect system repeatedly displayed requests for setting a time during which the system would undergo an over-the-air software update. This dialog box could not be easily dismissed or cleared. I chose and set a time for the update; however, this request dialog was reinstantiated anytime a button was pressed, thus effectively rendering the touchscreen interface (including the navigation) unusable. The dialog had a default time for the system to update. This was set to the current time plus one minute. While attempting to clear the dialog and use the navigation, this default time was inadvertently chosen. One minute later, while the vehicle was in motion on the highway, the uconnect system initiated a software update which completely shut down the touchscreen interface and displayed a warning which said that the vehicle should be stopped and in park. As the car was in motion on the highway, this warning could not be immediately complied with. The repeated dialog boxes were incredibly distracting. The fact that the driver could inadvertently initiate a software update while in motion is not only dangerous but astoundingly absurd.
While driving, the car disabled radio and navigation to put up an alert to schedule a software update. Attempting to dismiss this alert by selecting a time resulted in the alert coming back. When I hit 'cancel' to block the update, the vehicle decided to perform a software update while driving. The vehicle created an reoccurring driver distraction, and then unsafely performed a software update while driving, during which it disabled emergency services.
Currently have 53,078 miles on this van. It is serviced regularly by the same dealership we bought it from. Today as I was picking up my kids from school( speed limit is 15 mph) van suddenly lost power, it made beeping noise, and dash said to shift to park. I shifted to park and shut it down then restarted. It is driving normal again but I'm still taking it into dealership because ever since it had a software update last year, I have had issues with transmission slipping as I drive on highway. It slows down by itself and jerks van roughly as it automatically shifts to next gear. Also the trunk stopped making beeping sound when it opens.
Engine shut off while driving at approx. 25mph on a snow covered street in the dark. Lost all power and electrical systems and was stranded in middle of street with traffic all around. Engine restarted after a number of attempts. Vehicle had previously been updated with recall to address this issue in January of 2017 (u01/NHTSA 18v-049). Contacted Chrysler and was told they are aware of the issue and expect another software recall to be ready in April. They requested the vehicle be taken out of service and provided an rental car until update will be made available.
Car, with no warning, lost all acceleration while driving approximately 35 mph and flashed several warning lights on dashboard including electronic stability control, forward collision warning, service forward collision warning, and electronic park brake failure. In addition, the shifter knob light blinks and switches to 'p'. At that point, I can only drift the car to a stop. In my case I was able to turn the car off, then restart it and the issue did not occur again for another 4 days. After 4 days, the exact same thing happened, this time while I was stopped at a red light. Took the car in for service and was told they performed a software update on the transmission and the car was fixed. I got about 1 mile from the dealer and the exact same thing happened while driving at approximately 30 miles per hour. Drove car back to the dealer and they have the car now again trying to figure out what is wrong.
The contact owns a 2017 chrylser Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of power and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to texan Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (18555 eastex freeway service rd, humble, TX) where the failure was diagnosed as a software malfunction. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
Vehicle purchased in December 2016 for $44,000 from safford of fredericksburg. On October 14, 2017, I was driving with my wife, three children and mother-in-law and experienced a loud malfunction that rendered the car inoperable. Luckily we were not on the highway at the time and the vehicle was eventually towed to safford of fredericksburg, virginia for repairs. The right front axel had ruptured (total miles on the car were 8,311 at that time). The service agent (jim bogan) noted that this had been flagged on other occasions as identified issues at other service department requiring the next "generation" of axel assembly parts for the repair. Shortly after receiving the vehicle, we returned to the same dealership to address a loud girding noise also associated with the right front axel. In early December, 2017 we had the vehicle towed once again to safford of fredericksburg where they again had to repair the right from axel. Intermittently and over the past year while these issues were occurring, we continued to experience electronic issues with the sliding doors and rear lift hatch as well. The uconnect entertainment system will also malfunction from time to time. Several software updates have been initiated, addressing window and transmission concerns according to the dealership's service department. Yet, the vehicle does not function properly, where idle and transmission functioning often appears compromised (rough idle, rough shifting, sudden rpm increases and acceleration bursts when shifting from reverse to drive). I fear this car is not safe for my wife and three young children.
Car shut down while in drive, 5300 current miles. I was driving in heavy traffic in nyc and car shut down, earlier in the day I was at a dealership in safford va and they performed software updates because the day before in florida windows opened and closed on their own in the front passenger side, cluster panel went on and off and battery light came on. Battery maintained its 14 amp charge for the next 90 miles I needed to reach autotrain in sanford florida. I immiediately went to service in safford virginia and they said it was an up[date issue. Drove the next 260 miles with no issue until it shut off????.
