The power brake booster leaks, which causes the brakes to become inoperable. This despite the vehicle only being one year old. This defect has been discussed on numerous Chrysler Pacifica messaging boards and could present a serious danger to unknowing drivers. We experienced a brake failing while going approximately 40 miles per hour on a street. The brakes became extremely hard, forcing driver to put all her weight down to stop the vehicle. The vehicle is being repaired at a cost of $442, though the replacement part is on backorder and will not be received for three weeks after taking the car in for inspection.

Purchased vehicle new April 2019. The start/stop system has given a dash message 4 times. The dealer has replaced batteries and the entire drivers door mechanisim trying to correct the problem. This is a braunabilty handicapped conversion and it is imperative that the vehicle stop and start as needed. It cannot stop and not start in traffic situations. It also has a sliding door problem that has failed and stranded the handicapped person. Third situation is the brakes, the brakes failed, however the computer on the vehicle indicated no problem. The question below asks for a date it happened this is ongoing so I am using today's date.

The brakes have failed four times since I have owned the vehicle twice while I was driving and I suspected the forward crash control did not work as well or it would have stopped me I took it to two dealerships and neither can test it. Plus they said there was no codes why would there be? the one took it on a test drive and said yep it doesn't work he followed a car on the freeway. And it didn't go off. Last week it went off??? so I took it back to a dealer. He said well you don't think it should save you do you. I said yes if I don't hit the brake in time. Isn't that's what it is far. I know you shouldn't rely on them but it should work I think? they have no test for this feature. I think that they could follow a vehicle with a foam board hanging back like as consumer reports test it. Two times the van didn't start and twice it didn't stop for the cars in front of me luckily I was able to ride up along side them until it finally stopped it also happened last year and I reported it to you then.

I reported this earlier. But after some testing Chrysler said that this problem has never happened before, but all you have to do is google it and you find many. I think my brakes have failed four times since I have owned it. The day I bought it in 2017 and three times in March 2019. Twice moving and twice when I started it. It didn't finish starting but went to run???.

The emergency brake release handle has failed and has been replaced 4 times since the car was purchased in August, 2005. The most current failure event was on or about 9/15/11. The indicated date of first incident is an approximation of when the handle first broke. Since then the handle seems to brake every 12-16 months. When the brake release handle fails the entire emergency brake assembly falls to the floor, thereby rendering the emergency brake/release inoperable. It is apparent that the cause of the failure is a defective design of the handle. On each side of the part there is a small "ear" with a hole in it. The part connects to the dashboard by 2 small pins that slide into the holes. To release the emergency brake the handle is pulled outward thus causing the handle to pivot on the pins which, in turn exerts enough stress on the two "ears" that over time causes them to break, resulting in the brake release assembly separating from the dashboard and falling to the floor.
