1 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 09/02/2020

While driving the steering wheel will stick like the power steering is failing. It is most noticeable when on the highway. If you turn slightly to the right, the steering wheel will then stick and then you have to give a jerk to the left to get it back to center. It feels like the power steering is going out. I see that there is a recall on the van for the power steering on some models but when I checked the VIN on mine it said it wasn't included. I'm concerned that my vehicle is having the same issue but was not included in the recall.

2 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/11/2019

A/c and heat fan will spontaneously increase and decreased power, dash lights will pulse brightness, dash will flash "electrical failure" "parking brake failure", and power steering starts to fail. Feels unsafe to drive.

3 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 03/02/2019

In the fall, the entire electrical system failed leaving my car completely inoperable. This happened while driving the vehicle with my kids in the car. Thank goodness we were in a safe neighborhood going at a slow rate of speed. It took over a week to "fix" the problem and was give a whole new "computer". On Saturday 3-2 at 10:30 pm, I was driving with my children on the ohio turnpike going 70 mph when then power steering failed. I had to pull off the road. I did not have control of the vehicle due to loss of steering and had to pull the wheel hard to the right to get off the road. Thank goodness, I was in the right lane. If I were in the left lane on the highway, it would have been potentially fatal. Both occurrences could have caused serious injury or have been fatal. We researched the issues and found a nytimes article on these failures. This car has put my family's safety in danger.

4 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/05/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power. In addition, the power steering failed and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. Also, the emergency flashers were inoperable, the temperature gauge increased to high, and the vehicle failed to engage into gear. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to landmark Chrysler Dodge ram of atlanta (5745 peachtree industrial blvd, chamblee, GA 30341, (678) 825-3200) where it was diagnosed that two batteries failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact had concerns about the safety of the vehicle. The contact called 911 for assistance during the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 57793693. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

5 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/26/2018

Power steering failing completely. Started intermittently and was first advised that a 'low battery' caused a power spike in the power steering unit and they charged the battery. Then it happened more frequent and they diagnosed it to the power steering unit itself which took a week to replace. Then two days later the power steering went out while entering a 90 degree curve at 35 mph. Afterwards I could sit idling, watching the voltage wander between 11 volts and 15 volts, and have power steering, but as soon as I turned on the headlights or foglights or put it in gear, the voltage would stabilize at 14. 6-14. 8 volts and the power steering would turn off. It's been a week and they just contacted Chrysler. I'm at 15 days in the shop between failed secondary battery, and a major safety issue with the power steering and no end in site. When the power steering fails, there is practically no way to turn the vehicle unless you have significant strength in the arms. A normal sized woman would only have one recourse and that is to stop abruptly. This will lead to an accident. When the power steering went out on me at 35 mph, I had no ability to abruptly stop as I had a car immediately behind me. That would have resulted in being rear ended. If I hadn't been able to steer it by sheer brute force, we would have crashed into the trees along the road. When the vehicle was towed to the dealership the power steering would fail while sitting still, much less driving like it did when it first started. I have video of the power steering going in and out while sitting in the drive way.

6 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 05/13/2018

Driving at 45 mph in very light traffic, the power steering on the vehicle failed in 'turning traffic' making it near impossible for my wife to physically be able to correct the direction of the vehicle. She came to a complete stop as the vehicle was unresponsive with an error being reported on the driver information center located center/dash where the error reported was that there was a power steering failure and the vehicle should be taken to a Chrysler dealer for immediate service. Problem: power steering fails action taken: stopped, restarted and error message was no longer present. Tried on 3 separate occasions to reproduce the issue without success. Note: I have been unsuccessful in reproducing thi.

7 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

Power steering fails completely for about 30 seconds or more. This occurs when the vehicle travels through any water on the road that may splash into the engine compartment. The steering belt gets wet and will slip (making a screeching noice until it spins off the water and drys). The power assisted steering will stop completely not allowing the driver to maneuver the vehicle until the power steering is restored. This problem will cause the driver not to be able to change the direction of the vehicle in any direction to complete a turn or avoid a collision! it is very dangerous and can occur without warning. We are looking into the problem. It maybe that a splash guard was left off and not replace during a previous service. This has not been confirmed to be the fix. We will update this post once this is confirmed to be the fix.
