While driving down major highway, the power steering light went on. Immidiately my power steering shut off and I could not turn wheel at all. Highway was 55 speed limit and I could not even pull over. Had van towed to dayton andrews Chrysler dealership for diagnosis and they told me that the power steering mechanism needed to be replaced and it was going to be $4,500. 00. This van has 14,400 miles on it. After looking on line if other Pacifica owners had the same problem, it seemed this is a global problem. I obviously cannot afford to fix this almost brand new vehicle and the salesperson indicated that even if I did want to fix the part is on backorder and they don't know when they could get their hands on the part. The fact that this part is on such an extreme backorder tells me this part is in demand because many people are having this same issue. Please help ! I am going to contact my attorney to see my options. This vehicle is basically new and for safety reasons, beyond any fault of my own, is unoperable.

Electric panel fried. Driving all of a sudden on highway my power steering light came on jerked me to the right very hard and the in lane light pop on that's turned off in my van. And all of a sudden jerked me extremly to the left. Good thing traffic wasn't going to fast I would of been dead. When ever you would accelerate it would do it again. I was trying to get in the slow lane to pull over. Figure the car needed to be turned off and reboot computer. That didn't help as it proceeded to do it. So got off the highway. Car only has little over 28,000 mile s in it.

As I was driving on a three lane interstate with all three of my children in the automobile the power steering indicator light came on and I could not steer my car. I put on my flashers and started beeping my horn to alert other drivers. Thankfully, I was able to find a clear path over to the shoulder. After I was stopped for about 30 seconds the indicator light went off and the steering came back.

I was traveling on I-95 north bound in south carolina at 75 mph in the far left lane. I went to shift back to the center lane when the power steering completely failed and sent us across 3 lanes of traffic. We almost sideswiped a semi-truck. I was able to break enough to end up behind that truck in the far right lane and regain control of the vehicle. The red steering wheel light was illuminated on the dash board with a message power steering failure service required. I was able to make it to the next off ramp and once about half way up the ramp the power steering started working again. Several hours later the power steering went out again this time I was going straight at 65 mph in north carolina. It remained out for a few minutes and then started working again. It did this 4 more time on our trip from florida to maryland. On one occasion we were in traffic in virginia at 5 mph and it went out for about 10 minutes before working again.
2018 Pacifica has 218 miles on it. Bought it 4 days ago. While driving down the road the power steering completely fails. When this happens van pulls hard to the right. This has happened 3 times. Power steering service light, check engine light are both on. Turning van off and restarting fixes the problem, for awhile. Called dealership and was told " that doesn't make sense". Taking it in first thing Monday morning.
