Steering Column Problems of Chrysler Pacifica

1- turn the van on. Click on uconnect theater then shift to r or click the surround camera to activate the camera, click any bottoms to change the camera view, is not working. The screen freezing and not responding anymore. Turn the van off for 2 hours. Turn it on again, the camera options will work fine. Click the uconnect theater again, go back to the camera or shift to r, the bottoms that change the views are not working and not responding. 2- put the usb flash to play movies. Go to uconnect theater, it will read the usb and I can play movies. Disconnect the flash and connect it again, it will not reading it anymore. Turn the van off for 10 min. My car on occasion had been feeling like it was cutting out, I thought I got some bad gas so I switched stations and noticed it less. Then about a month later, it just turned off in route. I was at a four way stop accelerated to go and it started out, I made it into the middle of the intersection and the car turned off. It gave a notice by steering column that it needs to be in park to start engine or something. It did it with about 13,000 miles on it. I was able to start the van after I put it in park with foot on brake and continue on. It happened so fast I was not sure what went wrong? now I read that many have had this happen as well. I am fearful now it will happen when I am going higher speeds, etc. This needs to be fixed!.

The vehicle was taken to victory Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (45 naber dr, shallotte, nc 28470, (910) 356-9867) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The mechanic sealed the steering column with lock tight sealant however, the clicking sound returned and the vehicle remained difficult to steer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage 7,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving approximately 5 mph and making a left turn, a clicking sound emitted from the steering column without warning. The failure recurred on several occasions whenever the contact made a left or right turn. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the engine cradle had excessive rust and was fractured. As a result, the engine cradle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and after numerous attempts to correct the failure they stated they did not know what the caused the failure. They also stated they were working on a technical service bulletin to address the failure. The failure mileage was under 100 and the current was 39, 386.
