The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving 45 mph, the contact's vehicle was passed by an 18-wheeler tractor trailer and her sun roof suddenly exploded with a loud bang. She was able to maintain control of the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer stated that they could not assist with the repair costs. The contact had to wait until June 16, 2008 for the parts to arrive for the repair, and the dealer replaced the sun roof at the cost of $343. 74. When the drain lines defrosted the condensation leaked into the passenger side electrical system, causing the electrical passenger seat to malfunction. While driving in clear but cloudy conditions all windows closed, the moon roof was closed with its shade in the open position. For no identifiable reason the moon roof exploded with a loud bang and shattered, glass fell onto us, and in the back unocuppied seat. No warning at all. Dealer replace moon roof under warranty.

While driving in the clear, with all windows and sun roof closed, without any observed reason, the moon roof "exploded"in a loud bang/pop. Glass and glass fragments (some not so benign) rained down onto my hair, shirt, and pants, but mostly on the unoccupied rear seats where my children were five minutes ago. I still have the broken moon roof.

Traveling east on i80 in rockaway township, NJ approximate mile marker 37. Heard a loud bang, moon roof shattered and as shade was open, broken moon roof glass fell into passenger compartment. Pulled off highway to shoulder and the remaining glass around perimeter of moon roof looked as if it exploded upward. There were broken glass pieces found along the tracks of the vehicles roof rack. The weather and highway was clear and dry, temperature in the 40's. There was no apparent object that struck the vehicle.

Sunroof on 2004 Chrysler exploded. There was no external cause. The glass exploded outward. Car was only 4 weeks old. Dealer did replace is as under warranty. While driving down the highway, consumer heard a loud bang and then saw glass flying from the outside of the vehicle. The sunshade was closed and no glass from the sun rood glass panel flew into the interior of the vehicle. Upon inspection it appeared that someone kicked the glass panel from the inside of the vehicle. Just the glass flew out and not the glass panel frame. 90% of the glass was gone. The consumer stated that he did not use the sunroof that day nor did he use it much since the purchase of the vehicle. The weather was warm when it happened at 108 degrees. Will fax copiy of the work order. The repair was fixed under warrante. Consumer stated that he did not have dealer repair order. Cw.
