Dashboard Crack Problems of Chrysler Pt Cruiser - part 2

I own a 2001 Pt Cruiser and the dashboard cracked and appeared to be collapsing in the vent area. This started about a month ago and was getting worse fast.

Pt cruiser dashboard is cracking and growing longer. When I took the car to be serviced at Chrysler and showed them the crack they said they have never seen or heard of this happening to any other cars then gave a quote for me to pay and fix it. However the local news has been investigating and this is a widespread problem with the Pt Cruisers and a Dodge truck.

Dashboard cracking on 2002 Pt Cruiser. Watching crack work it's way along dash. . . . . Today heard a loud crack sound and now dash is cracked in half. I do not see any recall info from Chrysler. I was told I would need to pay for a replacement dash. This car is garaged except when working during the day. Probably not a major problem. . . But could be a safety issue.

2002 Pt Cruiser developed cracks in dashboard- from windsheild to dashboard grill and from dashboard grill to glove box panel.

Dashboard collapsed on 2002 Pt Cruiser purchased in January 2006. Approximately 6 months ago two cracks appeared on the dashboard, then in March 2007 the ventilation grill started to break, and the dashboard was now basically in two halves. As the gap in the dashboard appeared to be getting larger. A temporary repair was made using super glue to hold the dashboard together.

I noticed the crack in the dashboard . At the end of the evening the crack went from the vent on the dashboard to the windshield. Another crack opened about 3 inches to the left and continued cracking until it was completely cracked in half . Now ,there was a third fissure starting. The pieces of the vent were falling inside of it.

Recenlty on my local news they had a story saying that 2001 Dodge vehicles were having a problem with dashboards caving in on the driving while driving. I have a 2001 Chrysler p. T. Cruiser (Chrysler is a Dodge) my dashboard has a crack in it and I'm concerned that this is not a isolated problem and my dash board could sind at any moment. This is happening as the drivers are driving down the road and shutting everything down in the dashboard that you need to drive safely with, just wanted to place my concern that this could be effecting other Dodge model cars.

I own a 2002 p/t cruiser and the dash oard cracked right down the middle from the windshield to the top of the control console, about a foot long or 15 inches long crack. There was no vehicle accident causing this, or any other trauma to the dashboard. It simply cracked in the 5 years we owned the car.

The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. While driving 15 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle's dashboard was cracked. The mechanic at the local dealer was notified of the failure. The current mileage is 54,000 and failure mileage was 51,000.

I am the original owner of 2001 Pt Cruiser with 55,000 miles. Babout 6 months ago when driving I would hear a cracking and popping sound. The dashboard began cracking and has now cracked completely through, and was beginning to cave in. The local news channel has done investigative reporting on this problem. Various Chrysler and Dodge vehicles were experiencing this dangerous failure across the nation. Dealer was no help.

The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The contact noticed a crack in the dashboard. As years went by, the crack grew larger. The vehicle has not been taken to the mechanic. I own a 2002 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. I was aware Chrysler only offered a 3 year warranty on my car when purchased, so I opted and paid extra for an extended warranty to cover an additional 2 years. Basically last may 2006, I noticed a crack appeared on the top dashboard next to the windshield and the grill on the top dash also had a crack. I called the local Chrysler dealer and explained the situation and they said there was not a recall and there was nothing they could do to assist me. I explained I purchased an extended warranty and they then said that this was considered more of a cosmetic issue not anything that is covered under the extended warranty policy. We then called the main Chrysler headquarters office they claimed the same thing. So to this day I still have the crack on the top part of dashboard which now is cracked all the way across vertically (dash is split in half) because no one at Chrysler considered this a defect issue for some odd reason and lack the customer service all companies need to run a successful business. I vowed since then to never purchase another Chrysler.

The dashboard has cracked in half from the center of the base of the windshield, through the oval defroster grating, and all the way back to where the dash meets the center console. The defroster grating has actually fallen into the dash, and other smaller cracks are forming off of the main one. I didn't complain about this problem when it happened until I recently discovered that other owners were having similar problems. Chrysler has been most unhelpful and has has denied any culpability.

I have a 2001 Pt Cruiser and the dashboard is cracking like a potato chip.

Dashboard started to crack just one month outside warranty. 2 large cracks almost splitting the dashboard in half. The car does sit outside but it was only about 3 yr old car. After calling Chrysler to complain they agreed to pay for the part and I was to only pay labor.

I have a 2001 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. I had purchased the car used but in perfect condition in 2003 - approximately 6 months after I purchased the car, my dashboard cracked. I don't mean a small, hairline crack, but a crack where if it was pushed on it would crumble and fall. I took it to our local frikins Chrysler dealer who told me that it was due to using "armor all". When I told him I did not use any "armor all", he said that it was now due to lack of care. I also had to have the "air bag sensor" replaced 3 times, in which my dash was further cracked - and it is still not working. This ruins the look of my car. I was told there was nothing I could do, until someone suggested file a complaint on the web site. Thank you.
