Four problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 2000 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vvehicle was at dealer for servvice at 99,500 miles , asked to check over for any problems which may be corrected as warranty was about to expire. None. At 114,000 miles transmission locked up at 60mph highway, able to slide 3/4 off roadway. Repair is trans needs rebuilt ($1700) due to pin walked out of place.
Tansmission failure. Chrysler service manager said clutch tork converto came apart. 55000 miles requires new transmission. Warrant 3yr/30000 miles. New warrant 7yr/70000 miles for cars purchased after July 2002. Remanufactured transmission $2766.
Consumer was backing out, put vehicle in drive, and vehicle would only go back. Consumer tried 4 times, same result. On last try, she backed into a parked vehicle. Had vehicle towed to dealer, who could not find a problem. Also, contacted Chrysler who sent an individual to examine vehicle. Chrysler will mail her whatever they found out.
The key was removed from the ignition while the vehicle was engaged in the drive position. As a result, the vehicle rolled back. The consumer had to jump back into the vehicle to prevent any type of collision. The defect was noticed shortly after purchase. The dealer fixed the problem fee of charge.
