The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic and after inspecting the failure, the mechanic advised that the engine was destroyed because there was not enough oil in the engine. The engine oil had become sludge as a result of oil build-up. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they could not replace the engine and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 92,000. The VIN was not available.

While driving, car stalled in the middle of the boulevard; restart and drove to nearest parking lot. Had vehicle towed to automotive shop. Upon investigation found water in oil, 544 other cases filed 2001 Chrysler Sebring weak engine block failure after 34k miles, we lucked out after 66k miles.

The contact stated approximately two seconds after the oil light came on the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a garage; they found sludge build up in the engine. There have been no repairs done to the vehicle. Updated 12/27/05.
While driving 55 mph vehicle stalled. Consumer managed to pull over, and had the vehicle towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
While driving 30 mph engine seized. As result, vehicle stalled in traffic, and had to have it towed. Dealer stated that sludge built up in the engine.
While driving approximately 45 mph vehicle stalled. Driver managed to get vehicle out of traffic. Towed to independent shop, mechanic stated engine needed to be replaced, coolant went inside the engine. Please provide further information.
