I purchased a 2008 Chrysler Sebring on may 28, 2010. On that day after test drive I spoke with salesman and finance manager about the brakes and was insured that any problems to bring back within 2 weeks. I also was told that the squeaking would subside within 2 week time. I have returned car to dealership twice now and each time was told no problems and they did not hear any noise. I've had to pump my brakes to stop and there is a grind noise when applying pressure to brakes. I have since replaced the pads and was told the rotors were bad also. Is it going to take someone having an accident or possible death in order for actions to be taken? or will it take going public with the media? I would hope that actions would take place to correct the problems. Please don't ignore these complaints.

I own a 2007 Chrysler Sebring bought new in oct 2007. I have been having a constant vibrating problem with the braking system and/or tires since may 2008 and I did not know my brake system was covered under warranty up to 18,000 miles so I took it a firestone dealer. At the time I had 15,000 on my Sebring and they told me that my brakes were wearing down due to my rotors eating my brad pads and I would need them to be resurfaced. So I paid out of pocket $120 to have them resurfaced and continued to have the same problem then when I had time I took my vehicle to the dealer in August 2008 and they informed me that I would need new rotors and brakes because firestone did not properly put the brakes back on or something with the braker slider bridge. Well come to find out from the manager at firestone, that my rotors should not have to be replaced at such low mileage and it is a manufacturers defect from the Chrysler corporation. Well I had to have them replaced because I work an hour away from my home and depend on my vehicles liability. I could not stand driving 2 hours everyday with constant vibration. So I paid $288. 00 to have my rotors replaced and firestone was kind enough to throw in the brakes for free. Well here it is October 18, 2008 and I am still having the same exact problem. I called Chrysler corporation and informed them of my problems and they just do not seem to care. I have been the route of the dealer and I keep getting the run around. Well when I step on my brake my vehicle sounds like it is revving up as in acceleration but still slows down, when I make left had turns I hear a clunk in the steering column and that has not been addressed because apparently there is nothing wrong with it. I am afraid that one day my brakes may fail when I am driving and I have 2 small children to be concerned about. I need this constant problem resolved.

Rotors broke and had to be replaced along with pads at a cost of $453. Rocker panels under both doors rusted out at the seams, Chrysler would not fix, I was told it was a factory flaw not covered under warranty.

I have a 2003 Chrysler Sebring lx, I bought it used with 21,000 miles in March of 2004, nearly new right? since then, I have gone through 2 sets of rotors and pads for the front, 1 set of tires, passenger side lower ball joint, totaling over $700. 00 for repairs, that I paid out of my pocket. The fan knob inside the car that controls the speed of the heater fan labeled 1-4, now only works on 3 and 4. Now the lower tie- rod end on passenger side is bad or making a thumping noise. A nearby mechanic says that it is dry and needs lubrication but is not accessible due to Chrysler not putting grease fittings on any of the important areas! I brought it to the dealership when I found it would cost $850. 00 to fix. There mechanics say that they don't seem loose and nothing is going to fall a part, but just in case, since you can't just replace the tie-rod end, you have to buy the whole rack and pinion, so they supposedly have it on order. The dealer says if it has to be replaced after they look the car over good, that I would have to pay a $50. 00 deductible and the warranty will cover the rest. I bought this car since I have always bought Dodge/Chrysler vehicles assuming it would be a safe family car since my wife is pregnant and due in November which is right around the corner! I have had the car less than a year and a half and have sunk more money in it then most vehicles 5 years or older. I have a little over 59,000 miles on it which when I bought it I got the extended warranty up to 75,000 miles. At the rate it's going, the car will lucky to make it that far. Safety is my main concern when purchasing a vehicle, and this car has proven to me that it is a lemon due to the front end problems and is a hazard to my family and I. Please contact me with any questions you may have. I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

This complaint is the same as the one filed on March 12th of 01. Premature brake wear. On my make and model Chrysler Sebring conv. There are no wear sensors on the inside brake pads. Only on the outside do they have the required hardware to detect brake wear. On my car the right inside brake pad always wears out first. I have had to completely replace my brakes at almost the exact same mileage as the first time. I have documentation if required to verify complaint if necessary. Thank you for your attention to this complaint.

After repairing the brakes eight times manufacturer was notified, but did not offer assistance because of the warranty. Every four months the brakes, pads, and rotors have been serviced or replaced. The consumer was told by Chrysler that her vehicle could not be repaired properly and preprare to fix her vehicle every four months.

Left front outboard brake pad apparently sepatated from the backing plate while stopping in a parking lot. There was no advance warning noises. When completing a stop, I felt a pulse in the brake pedal. When I returned to the car and started home the brakes were grinding very bad. Icontinued home slowly and the next morning pulled the wheels and brakes in the garage. The left outboard backing plate had no braking material at all. There was no residual as is usually present on a worn out pad, just the rivets and backing plate. The pads have wear indicators that hadn,t given any warning so I think it was a sudden failure. Except for an early brake job I had no real damage(brake warranty is 12 months12k). Hopefully this is an isolated incident but I am notifying ntsb in case any trends develop.
The front brake inner pad came apart all at once and caused the brake pedal to feel as if it sank to the floor. A loud grinding sound was heard and we parked the vehicle. Upon investigation, I found the inner pad lining completly missing and the plate rivits gouging the disk rotor. Maybe the lining was cracked and it finally let loose? I didn't hear any of the associated "squeaking" you normally hear when disk brake pads are getting worn. The outer pad looked good. $300. 00 later, I have new front brakes.
Front brake failure occurred as car was proceeding into an intersection. Drivers side pads and rotor showed extreme wear while passenger side showed little wear to pads or rotor.
The brakes on the vehicle starting "squealing" and we took it to midas for what we thought would be a replacement of the brake pads. Midas said that the repair was a Chrysler defect and that we should take it to Chrysler. The midas mechanic said that our Sebring conv. Was the third one he's seen with this problem. Only on the right side, the brake pad was worn down to the sensor, causing the squelling, that was because the rotor has numerous cracks in it caused by excessive heat and friction. He said you normally only see this problem in cars with well over 100,000 miles on them. Chrysler says it's probably the "caliper" that needs to be replaced/fixed. We're waiting for repair. Looks like there are several others with "brake" problems on your website, please look into this. I would hate for a family like mine(I have two small children) to be injured because their brakes fail.
Rusted brake rotors replaced and brake pads due to brake noise/reduction of brake responsiveness. Brake rotors have been recalled for this problem, however consumers VIN not included. (98v-005).

Consumer took vehicle to dealershp and was told that she needed new front brake pads. Brakes are not operating propeerly.
Excessive wear of rotors and pads within every three months. Rotors would be turned or replaced, alongs with replacing brakes pads. Dealer / manufacturer were notified. Dealer replaced/repaired rotors and pads on the frist two occasions. All expenses went to the consumer. Feel free to provide further details.
Front right brake pads wear unevenly. The inside pad is grinding into the rotor while the outside is thick on the leading edge and thin on the trailing edge.
We have replaced the brakes and pads several times in the past 2 years. The brakes only last 3-4 months then they go out and crumble in the hand of the mechanics. There is a definate problem here and we would like some assistants in the correction of it. Please contact me at the given address or phone number. Thank you.
Brake pads wear excessively and destroys the rotors. When it rains the brakes are completely inoperable. The pedal goes to the floor and rotors "scream", metal against metal.
When driving and upon depressing the brake pedal to make a graudal stop, consumer heard a noise coming from front end. Consumer contacted dealer. Dealer replaced front brake pads on a number of occasions due to excessive wear. Please provide any further details.

The brake pads would stick to the rotors causing the pads to wear out prematurely. The brake pads have been replaced approximately, every 5,000 miles and the rotors have been replaced three times. The brake pads wore on one side and not the other. When the brakes were applied on the highway they would go sideways. The consumer also had a concern about an "m 1999," in which the engine would smoke while in motion on the highway. Oil leaked out from the top of the engine due to faulty parts. The engine was rebuilt by the dealer.
