11/7/2003 traveling north bound on sprinkle rd. In kalamazoo michigan, my fiancee was stopped at the red light at bl-i94 my vehicle came off the red light traveling at 35 miles per hour. A van or SUV that had also been stopped at the light in front of her swerved into another lane bringing to her view a slow or stopped kalamazoo township police cruiser. My fiancee hit the brakes and the pedal locked to the floor and locked the wheels on the car. At the same time the engine accelerated leaving little to no braking power. My car slid 78 feet according to the skid marks on the pavement only coming to a stop after rearending the police cruiser.

Nar 1/15/2003. The consumer was unable to get the abs to activate or the wheels to lock up on dry pavement. The consumer stated on wet surfaces, the problem was magnified because when the abs did activate, it reduced the brake pressure to the point that they were completely useless.
Car delivered with badly warped front brake rotors and the tires were way out of alignment. The conditions described could compromise the abs system and cause great bodily harm or death to the driver, passengers and anyone hit by this vehicle. Dealer fixed problems at first said vibration was normal for that car. Car was difficult to stop safely. Mr.

Two incidents occurred with subject vehicle, the first on 12/27/01. When approaching an intersection while slowing for a traffic light, the car lurched forward and accelerated. I immediately applied the brakes but the car continued to move foward toward a double parked vehicle. After pushing hard on the brakes while pulling my body up off the seat, the car finally stopped. I brought the car to the dealership and they could not find any problem. The next mishap occurred on 1/27/02, wherein I was to back out of my driveway. I had my foot on the brake pedal while shifting the car into reverse. The 2001 Sebring convertible lurched but could not move because my foot was on the brake pedal. This being the second time, I calmly placed the car in park. These too mishaps are frightening and dangerous as its occupants and any pedestrian(s) in the path of the vehicle could easily be injured or seriously injured.

Cable connecting gas pedal to engine frayed and stuck at full throttle. Brakes did not work. Was traveling in rush hour traffic at full speed two times. The first time repeated stomping on the gas pedal and brake pedal and throwing the car into neutral unjammed it after a couple of minutes. The second time also in rush hour traffic these efforts did not help. I wove in and out of traffic until I got to an off ramp, and luckily was able to get through the traffic light at the intersection at the off ramp and onto a sidestreet where I put it into neutral and landed it like an airplane on a landing strip with the brakes smoking and the engine screaming and the car glided to a stop. Was told the cable had unwound like a frayed piece of rope and stuck inside the cable connecting the pedal to the engine.

Upon depressing brake pedal to make a gradual stop, pedal went to the floor, causing extended stopping distance and vehicle went through a stop sign. Dealer unable to determine problem.
On 2 different occasions within a few thousand miles of each other I have had to replace the left and right rear wheel bearings. Each time they were replaced with the identical wrong part which caused the loss of the abs and track system. Chrysler provided both the wrong part and incorrect part info. Chrysler is using 50+ of these 1998 parts per week . They have since identified there error and have warned there parts mgrs. And corrected the info provided to bca for their oem parts catalogue. I met by coincidence another 1998 Sebring owner that lost their abs system after a rear wheel bearing repair. My concern is that Chrysler knows that there were repairs made with the wrong part. There customers lost a valuable safety system. Chrysler has not notified their customers of the error. It took a great deal of investigation on my part to find and correct the problem. Still at this time their is still incorrect info in the hands of many auto repair shops.

Consumer went to back out of parking space ,put vehicle into reverse with foot on brake, and vehicle accelerated rapidly, hitting a parked vehicle. Consumer then put gear into drive, and vehicle accelerated forward, running into a grocery store. Brakes did not override the acceleration.
The car in front of me stopped short causing me to brake quickly. The brakes were totally unresponsive and failed despite more than enough room to brake safely.
While driving at 35- 40 mph consumer applied brakes to slowdown and make a turn, and one of wheels locked up, causing an accident. Please provide further information.
I ahve been to the dealershipabout the hot tar that was leaking from my door and they said that they fixed it. Well the next summer it got hot once again and the hot tar got on clothing and my leg. How ever by this time my warranty was out and so they said it was not there responsebility and I ahd to cover the repair since they had no record of the repair. I also contacted Chrysler onthe problem and the employee response was "just because you are haveing problems does not mean anyone else is!"I would have to say that I would never ever buy another Chrysler product again! I have gotten no customer service from the dealership but I ahd an awesome salesaman who can not do anything to help! but sell me another car in six months after I pay this one off more. All in all this has been a learning adventure for me.
While driving the vehicle down hill throttle cable broke, causing the accelerator pedal to not return to idle and the brakes did not work. The driver had to downshift into low gear and use the emergency brake to stop. Dealer has vehicle.
The vehicle had remained stuck on cruise control. It kept on accelerating. Had applied brakes; vehicle did not slow down. Relaxed on brakes & vehicle accelerated again. Had worn brakes out. At side of road & turned vehicle off & disengaged cruise control. Restarted vehicle & had no brakes. Used emergency brakes. Had vehicle towed to dealer.
I am very disapointed with the front bumper all I did was park and now its ruined I dont think I should have to pay since they made it so low to the ground I have found alot of other people with the same problem also the brakes I though maybe they didnt fix them right but now I am finding out from other people that own a Sebring that it is normal for the breaks to always go and the bumber to crack please let me know if there is any way I can have Chrysler pay for this.
While driving applied brakes and nothing happened, vehicle went into a spin, hit a stone wall. Police report stated vehicle had no brakes. Fluids checked okay. Dealer contacted and does not accept responsibility for the incident. Ml.
Purchased a 1998 Chrysler Sebring July 1998. Had so many problems within a few week period that the dealer took it back, and gave me another one in August 1998. After a couple of weeks, the 2nd Sebring developed similar problems. When driving over bumps primarily on left side, a loud metalic rat-a-tat-tat sound coming from wheels. Also, intermittent steering problems. When making a right turn, with foot on brake pedal, steering wheel pulls to the left. Same results when making a left turn, steering wheel pulls to the right.
Brakes were squeaking when pushing brakes, took to dealer, and they could not dublicate the problem.
While driving could step on the brake pedal but felt pedal pulsating, and extended stopping distance. Problem caused by warped rotors, which were replaced, and the new rotors became warped as well.
Anti lock brakes grab and release, causing loss of control/collision.
Weather was rainy & road wet, driving about 25mph; started applying brakes & pedal went to floor; happens on dry roads also. Took to dealer & said brakes fine; could not find anything. Manufacturer said to try another dealer.
No summary provided by consumer.
While driving 30-40 mph went to apply the brakes they locked up. Rpms were racing up to 6000. Took to dealer, had brake repaired. Problem still not remedy. Please provide any further information.
Door cladding falling off / brake rotors warp easily.
The brakes would keep locking up whenever they are applied. Vehicle would shake. Been to dealer & entire braking system was replaced. One month later, problem had started over again.
