The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. When the seat belt was buckled, the warning light remained illuminated and the engine failed while driving 10 mph. The vehicle was taken in for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the vehicle could not be diagnosed because the battery continued to drain. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.
I took my car to get diagnostic for smog. The shop I took it to smog Smart explain they have dismateled my car claiming engine, coolant, and timing belt. They have removed parts and claim they contacted Chrysler and its company states its repairs is not worth the vehicle. The engine claim, the coolant claim and timing belt they have made against the manufacture. The engine checked fine before dropping the car off. The car would stop due to heating the fuel running since the car had been a non op for 3 years andreason for smog. The car was deliberatley dismanteled can I get its information of the claim the smog mart 7070stockton sacramento CA 95820 is making so I can settle with the sheriffs in there distruction of my proeprty without invoice signature to remove any partys on my car except ordered to run diagnositcis.

Problem: 2008 Chrysler Sebring engine, transmission & electrical problems. I began financing in Nov 2013 from Toyota of riverside, 1yr and 3 months later on Feb 17, 2015 while I was exiting the freeway, my engine light came on, my car completely shutdown, I had no brakes, I was fearful and held onto the steering wheel coasted near an arco station. I was thankful I did not hit anyone or have an accident. I called aaa who towed me to Toyota of riverside. Joe agassi the service manager told me I needed to replace the timing belt and the engine for $1500. It took about 3 weeks for the engine to be repaired, my car was returned on March 12, 2015. However, I noticed when I received my car back the cruise control lever near the steering wheel was hanging loosely and was not attached. Weeks, later the electronic speed control light and the engine light came on along with problems shifting. I sent pictures of my engine light being on from my phone to joe agassi and leo varela and went to see joe agassi who told me the transmission need repair and it would cost $3000 to $4000. " I went to moss brothers riverside, oscar talamantes on 09/17/15 did a diagnostic. He told me there is an auto transmission shift lever recall and a spring hook retainer he can replace for free. He also replaced a stop lamp switch binds and and reprogrammed the pcm for $290. I picked up my car on 9/22/15 it continued to stall, returned it to moss brothers oscar said it may be a transmission problem before we can begin we will need $1690 up to $4480 to repair it. Ihad my car towed to manuel auto center, he replaced my left tie rods for $275 in the past. He completed a diagnostic, replaced solenoid package for $800. However, my driver side window would not roll down, electrical problems and negligence at his shop. He was willing to pay $275 to repair. My car is unsafe. Thank you ms melinda ancrum.
I have a 2006 Sebring with a 2. 4l engine that has had the seals replaced twice and it still kept pouring oil. My original mechanic said there was nothing more he could do and the engine should be replaced. I was referred to anther mechanic by a friend who did a lot more work in trying to fnd out why they could not fix the oil leak. He found out that the 2005 and 2006 engines were missing a thrust bearing and so it kept pushing the crankshaft against the timing belt which pushed out the front seal. Chrysler fixed the design by adding a second thrust bearing with a new revision to the engine. After 8 weeks and $5500 of repair and rental builds, I have a new half block and it seems to be fxed. I think Chrysler should have put out a recall on these motors since there was a design flaw fixed in the new version of the 2. 4l engine and short block. It is not safe to be driving a car leaking oil nor fair for consumers to eat the cost of the repair when it was an engine design error. I am paying car payments on top of having to pay for a Chrysler design flaw. Thanks for any info you can give.

S10 appropriate handling-letter from regarding 2001 Chrysler Sebring
the consumer stated when he turned the steering wheel to the left or the right, he could hear a grinding sound. The dealer found the left lower ball joint was worn, which was the cause of the noise. Also, the front struts, oil pan and cooler lines were all leaking, and the drive belts were cracked. The heating and air condition controls were not performing as designed.

A quiet squealing noise under the hood over a period of 3 to 4 months getting louder leading to trouble starting car and finally car would not start with jump and new battery. Took car to mechanic and it turned out to be a simple frozen pulley except for the fact it was connected to the air-conditioner shaft. The pulley can not be removed without replacing the ac unit and serpentine belt. This design is apparently on many Chrysler models and is a very expensive fix should and when it occurs.

My Sebring stalls when I come to a stop or am traveling at low speeds. The car has stalled in the middle of intersections and is obviously very dangerous to drive. The car additionally lunges at low speeds or when I accelerate. The seatbelt light on the dash goes on and off sporadically. I have determined through personal investigation the wire connection for the seatbelt light is under the driver seat and it doesnt always make a good connection. When the connector is touched the light will go off and on so that tells me that the connector has a short and is faulty. A plastic part in the gear shift has broken and made it impossible to shift without manipluation with a screw driver, and there is a loud clicking sound that comes out of the air condition vent/duct when the ac is turned on. I have owned many vehicles through the years and this is the first car that I have purchased that I am actually scared for my family and I to drive anywhere. I will never again purchase a chrylser, but not just because of the above but because they have not gained my trust. This company should try a new campaign of trying to gain the trust of the consumer, and they could start by accepting the fact that they have many faulty vehicles that need to be recalled and repaired, this is not only good sound advice this would be good business practice.

I had over $968. 00 of repair work done at machaik Chrysler (georgetown, texas ). The manager stated they found oil leaking onto the spark plug, had to perform a combustion chamber cleaning, chemically cleans intake chamber . Mopar fuel injection and fuel rail. Remove the throttle body and chemically clean carbon from throttle body. After I had this work done I drove 5-7miles down the road, and my 2002 Chrysler Sebring timing belt broke at 82,758 while I was driving on the highway. I had no power, lights, absolutely nothing worked, and almost got killed in traffic.
Premature engine failure, 2. 7 liter Chrysler no warning lights leading up to inevitable engine failure. 10/27/08, 6:30 p. M. Heater abruptly stopped working. 10/28, 2 miles into a. M. Commute; stopped at red light, turned right once traffic clear. Upon acceleration engine hesitates, nearly causing driver behind to rear end me. Pulled off street to check that car was running ok, seemed fine. 9 miles into commute. Oil light flickers, pulled into gas station within 4 blocks, scared engine would lock up or blow. Checked oil, dry dipstick! purchased 2 quarts, added 1 & barely registered on dipstick. Added 2nd, now registered over filled (oil in engine was held back due to sludge, & released while adding new oil?). Oil light stops flickering & is off. 1 more mile to work. Engine hesitated a couple of times during a. M. & p. M. Commutes. 9:58 p. M. , 11 miles into p. M. Commute stop at gas station, check oil. Before opening hood, noticed antifreeze odor, couldnt tell if coming from my car or others nearby. Oil still registered on dipstick as overfilled. Noticed steam coming from engine near mid front of car, passenger side, could not find exact location. Purchased coolant just in case. Final 2 miles of commute, temp gauge registered higher than normal. 10/29, 8:00 a. M. Take car to dealership. Drip marks on driveway from evening before. Arrived at dealership service, informed me they were no longer Chrysler dealership/service as of oct. 1, (sign outside & cars in the lot had not been taken away). Diagnosis: replace water pump, oil, ac & power steering belts, oil sending unit, timing chain & gears, tensioners & upper connectors. Estimate: $1,548. 2nd opinion: replace water pump, valve cover gasket, thermostat, belts, & oil for $1,371. Also suggested replacing timing chain, total $2,500. However, the shop had 15-year former Chrysler service veteran on staff who suggested I not make repairs because the engine will seize soon, and id be wasting money. Still making payments on car.
The car began to make a loud noise from the engine area that sounded like a loud muffler. We took it to the mechanic near our home who diagnosed it with a failed tensioner spring on the timing belt which caused engine sludge.
My 2002 Chryslersebring was sitting in the shop right now gettung a new timing chain at 64,000 miles. My outside extended warranty will not cover a new enginge because they know that Chrysler has this as a defect. It's not right, and Chrysler should be held accountable. We all have had the same exact issue.
Timing chain failure at approximately 74500 miles. Total engine failure. Car is covered under extended warranty, case pending.
Car kept stalling and just died one morning. A passerby stopped to help me and said the oil was low. I put oil in it and headed to the dealer. The dealer asked for receipts to prove I had oil changes over the past year so the work would be covered under the warranty. I provided receipts and was told by the dealer that the receipts were unacceptable because the garage that did the oil changes did not use the proper format on their receipts. Chrysler wanted me to pay $6950 for a new engine. My mechanic then faxed over receipts that would be acceptable to the dealer and because the receipt said that I had a fram oil filter put in the car and there was still a factory oil filter in it they would not replace the motor under the warranty. They said the engine was full of sludge and would need to be replaced along with the timing belt and heads.

Timing chain failure causing engine failure on my 2001 Chrysler Sebring my only solution is to let the car sit for the two years I owe on it because the only solution is to replace the engine because it is apparently a design flaw.
2001 Chrysler Sebring 2. 7 liter dohc performed routine maintenance on 9-11-05, due to a long trip. Everything was good as far as fluid levels, performed an oil change, vehicle ran fine oil was not burnt or low oil change interval was on schedule. On 9-12-05 at 9:30 a. M. , at interstate speed vehicle shut down, as it shut down temp. Gauge went to the max. My wife and seven month old child were stuck on highway off-ramp. Very hot and humid day about one-hundred miles from home. Towed vehicle back to home area. Vehicle acted as if timing chain had broke. Upon removal of intake and valve cover, twelve intake valves are bent and stuck open do to the timing chain jumping or water pump failure. Have not inspected any lower in the engine yet. Vehicle has 88,374 miles on it. After researching this problem, I found that this is a fairly common problem. Made contact with Chrysler to see if their was a possible recall. Chrysler said they do not have any timing problems with this engine, but were very evasive when challenged with questions. Old parts are available.
Dt: while driving my Chrysler Sebring the engine just stopped. It starting making a loud noise and then the consumer heard a crunch. When the consumer opened the hood the timing chain had cut a slice out of the plastic value cover. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic where it was confirmed that the timing chain did break. He also told the consumer to search the internet to find out if there were any other complaints on this same motor. The consumer hasn't done any research to see if there has been any recalls on this vehicle yet.
I own a 2001 Chrysler Sebring coupe purchased new. I was out of my warranty for some of my repairs however. I have not been able to drive my car since June 20,2004 since that time I have spent an enormous amout of money renting cars. The timing chain broke which in turns damage the engine which I had to pay for. But when all of this happened I did call Chrysler to find out if there where any recall on the 2. 7 liter engine they of course repled no. I had also called a Chrysler dealer to find out why they didn't seem to know I was told that they did not have they knowleged about those engines that they didn't know. Since that time I had to search for that same engine which is not an easy egine to find. I have spent over 3,300 to have this enegine replaced. However in dealing with this and still owe the finance company for this car, I have late payment on my credit report. I have been so stressed out over this it has effected my work, personel life, dealing with this headache.
The engine on my Chrysler Sebring (2. 7) quit due to excess sludge from a defective design. I called Chrysler and was told that my vehicle was out of warranty and that they would not reimburse me any costs. I had regular oil changes and maintenance on my vehicle. The service manager at the dealership stated that they have to repair 6 or 7 cars a year due to engine failure. I had the engine rebuilt at a cost of nearly $2,500. If the dealership had performed the work it would have cost nearly $7,000 and they would have put a new, but the same defective engine in my car. A jasper engine employee documented that Chrysler has never done the updates that would have prevented the problem.
On the engine I had the pulley on the timing belt come apart and just last month I had the head gasket start to leak from the back. Timing belt 28,000 head gasket 37,500. I have had to replace all 4 tires that where on the car. All by 29,000 miles--some earlier and then later. The brakes were replaces at the same time as the timing belt pulley. I knew they needed replacement and had an appointment to get them replaced when the timeing belt went out. It is a 1996 but I only have 37,500 miles.
The vehicle would not start due to head gasket, timing belt and coolant filler failure which were replaced.

On 7/26/02 I was coming to a stop at a traffic light and heard a thudding sound coming from somewhere below my right foot. The engine died when I came to a stop and would not start again. There were no other sounds. There was no electrical responses. My car was towed to my local firestone dealer and I was told that the pulley that moves all the electrical peripheral belts had broken off. The auxiliary belts snaped and one of them went through the plastic cover (housing) of the timing belt. They called Chrysler service (powertrain care plus) and was told that they would not pay for any work so far done and should have the car taken to a Chrysler dealer. The car was towed to ourisman Chrysler. They tore down the engine and tried to rebuild it. Too much damage was done. The called the service contract (daimler/Chrysler) people who said that the damage was caused by something external to the power train and they would not pay for it. I was told by the service manager that the cost of a new engine installed would be $8,000. They said new not remanufactured. I found that out later. I shopped around and found a service group that specialized in installing remanufactured engines and they said " it would cost $4900 installed with a 3 year, unlimited mile warrenty including parts and labor". I tell this to Chrysler and they say that this is impossible. They cannot get their "remanufacatured" engine for as little as that. I need your help. I have been deceived by Chrysler about the engine, about how much "I" would have to pay to replace the engine and what the service contract covers. The pully that they say is not part of the power train is run off the power train to generate the electricity to run the starter for one and many other components that make the car go. I have taken very good care of my car and paid a good price for the power train protection. I should not have to pay any more because of their malfunctioning product. Can you assist me?.

Timing belt tensioner failed @ 54,000 miles. Failure caused timing belt to jump which bent valves. Internet investigation shows Sebring has history of this failure. Manufacturer should cover repairs but won't. Don't buy cars or extended warranties from Chrysler.
Side molding fell off on the freeway. Brakes vibrated. Dealer said it was normal wear. Rims have bent several times. Front end was very low to the ground. Engine died becuase serpentine time belt came off, causing engine to cease. Dealer tried to repair problem, but it still squealed. Dealer couldn't remedy the problem.
Serpentine belt failed causing noise on acceleration.
Vehicle stalls/slows down without incident when the driver is coming to a stop sign or traffic light, causing hazardous driving situations.
While driving at 55 mph vehicle stalled without warning. Dealership performed a diagnostic test which indicated that timing belt and engine failed.
