Car Stall problems of the 1996 Chrysler Town & Country

While driving, primarily at low speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. At higher speeds there was a clunking sensation. .

While driving vehicle shut off. Dealers serviced the vehicle several times, but could not find any defects. The consumer claims the vehicle it stalls out randomly.

While traveling on the highway without prior warning the crank shaft broke and caused the vehicle to stall. Dealer is aware of the problem. Please provide any additional information.

Vehicle stalled while being driven and would not restart.

Vehicle stalled while being driven at slow and high speeds on highway, which caused an accident, on both occasions dealer could not duplicate the problem.

While driving the vehicle stalled and the consumer saw smoke and fire coming from under the hood. Claim number 15-3024-211.

There was a fire in the engine compartment, prior to this incident a new starter had been installed, claim # 32-v339-978. Nlm.

Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop, mostly after long trips. Took vehicle to dealer 3 or 4 times, and cannot remedy problem. Vehicle stalled about 5 or 6 times. Consumer states vehicle stalls when removing his foot from the gas pedal at speeds of 25-40 mph, all brakes and steering are lost when this failure occurs.

When driving the vehicle will stall out and die , giving the driver no indication. The delaer has been notified.

While driving the vehicle at any speed the vehicle stalls. When vehicle was taken to dealership, dealer discovered that there was a problem with the rocker arm located in the engine.

Vehicle stalls intermittantly, changed sensor but vehicle continues to stall.

While driving at normal highway speed vehicle is fine, when slowing on exit ramp the vehicle stalls, losing all power completely. Dealer has been contacted. The vehicle startes immediately after failing except on one occassion it required half hour before restarting.

While driving 50 mph vehicle stalls for no reason. Dealers cannot find problem. Problem is intermittent.

Intermittently when driving the vehicle stalls. The dealer is not able to duplicate the problem, and is therefore, not able to repair vehicle. Manufacturer has been notified.

Problem is noted on very hot days, no prior warning when driving at any speed. Upon applying brakes vehicle will stall and die out. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer unable to determine the cause of the problem.

The engine sensor failed, which caused the vehicle to stall.

This problem has occurred & been repaired 3 times since purchasing the vehicle. It stalls and you loses all power. This happened the first time as we were going over railroad tracks. It has happened while making left turns. This is extremely dangerous because you never know you have a problem until you are driving along and lose power. This was repaired by vero beach Chrysler the first time, and they said it was not covered under warranty. Ceconni Chrysler said it cetainly was a warranty item and got our money reimbursed by Chrysler. The second time it happened it was repaired gator Chrysler-Plymouth, melbourne, FL 32901. The mileage was 53,000 the second time and they said it was no longer warrantied. The third time it happened the mileage was 95,200 and we again paid for the repair. This is a very upsetting problem. It has happened during left hand turns.
