Four problems related to software have been reported for the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Power door locks stop working. Remote control activation of power liftgate activates alarm. Software defect in body control module. Chrysler charges for software update ($120 for half hour labor). TSB 08-040-04 can temporary fix by removing iod fuse for 30 seconds to reset the body control module.
On 2005 Chrysler town and country, power door locks completely stop working. Pulling the iod fuse fixes the problem for a couple weeks, then they stop working again. Dealer wants $100 to upgrade software. Internet search shows this is a very common problem after 45,000 miles.
The cruise control will come on by itself and drop out on an intermittent basis. The drop out is annoying, but the self apply of the cruise causes the vehicle to speed up also intermittently. There has been a few close calls. Taken to the dealer, and they have found no problem.
Vehicle component info on confirmation #'s 10149437, 10149440 & 10149442 are all original equipment from manufacturer. Gas gauge went from full to empty fuel pump quit , gas gauge went back to full and fuel pump stated working again. Had a friend in car that witnessed this problem. Service department listed cause as electrical-software[drb tested, updated pcm].
