When exiting my vehicle Sunday, it would not shut off nor would the key come out. I was finally able to turn the engine off but not get the key out. This meant that the acc mode was allowing power to remain on. Because the dealership was closed on Sunday, the power remained on until I could call them Monday morning. I was told to jump the vehicle off and bring it in. When driving to the dealership, I realized the radio no longer was functioning because of the power failure caused by the ignition switch that was not working. They replaced the ignition switch free of charge but will not fix the radio. I am confident it was caused by the failure of the key and the subsequent power drain. All of this was caused by the failure of the ignition switch. I am not a mechanic but a teacher so I may not be using correct terminology. I hope you understand what I am trying to explain. Also, for over a year, I have been corresponding with Chrysler about an issue I have been having with the ignition switch. The same ignition switch that I am speaking of above will (numerous times) become disengaged and shut off. Because of this I never allowed my children to drive it. Chrysler on many occasions told me to "be very careful and take all precautions" because the parts were not available to complete this repair. I know that all of these problems are related.

This is a follow up to odi number 10604831. Soon after I filed this complaint; I attempted to start the vehicle and there was only a small detected attempt when I turned the ignition switch. I followed up 5 to 6 more attempts and it started normally, I noticed when I would be unsuccessful at engaging the switch, it did not draw any current or effect the light. This continued not wanting to start over the past 3 to 4 weeks, I would estimate 12 to 15 times. There were times, it took longer--putting in neutral, to using my wife's key before it would start. I was getting nervous to thinking one of these times it would not be starting or to die in traffic. So today I had mills dealership here in willmar install a new switch. . . . Thinking my problems would be solved, think again. The short time I drove it this afternoon. The engine died when I went to slow up for a stop sign, which is usually when it would happen. Also starting it once it took 3 twist of the switch before it started, which was an improvement. Can I get a call from a specialist to what may be going on, I do some answers.
The vehicle has stalled under the following conditions: engine warm driving on bumpy road less than 25 mph (this is how the stalls began), now - engine cold or warm vehicle in deceleration mode - many different speeds from 25 to 60 mph. I can 'feel' a slight loss of power in the vehicle when stalling is prone to happen, I can almost anticipate it now and drive two-footed to keep it from happening. Stalling has occurred over 30 times in the last six months. There are no mil codes in the system. According to Chrysler hotline - the vehicle is not part of the ignition switch recall for 2009. No repairs have been made. Not taken to the dealer because it seems impossible to duplicate and thought that would be a waste of time.
The vehicle dash lights and gauges will all flash and start beeping while the wipers continuously go on and off with no control. This only happened while vehicle was in park and either the driver side door was open but recently started doing this while driving. We took the van in to the dealership on 6/27 for the ignition switch recall and now the vehicle constantly does this while driving. The dealer was not able to complete troubleshooting due to time restrictions. I have seen many people online complaining of this same issue and some saying their vehicle will even shut off from time to time while driving and I am wondering why is this not being recalled?.
