1 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2016

I bought this auto with 21954 mles on it may 2013 and the rear brakes had just be replaced. Now in Dec 2016 with 80000 miles I have to replace the rotars and brake pads again when they started making a noise. Rear brakes should last a lot longer than this.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

Was going on a trip with my family in our 2010 Chrysler town and country lx. While driving down the expessway, we had to brake. Well when you try to brake, the pedal goes down to the floor and the steering wheel shakes and you do not stop. When you do stop the tires lock up and skid. This is an ongoing problem with this vehicle. I even tried replacing the brake pads and that didnt help. I have been reading a lot of information online that this is a huge problem with this year, make and model. I would like to know why they havent recalled this vehicle yet!!!.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2014

I have 2 problems with this vehicle that Chrysler refuses to respond to with appropriate answers. The 1st one is the front brakes. This has been an issue since the purchase of the vehicle. 4-2010 the rotors always create hot spots then causes the brakes to fail. . There is never any wear on the brake pads just the rotors. There was a letter sent out a couple years ago that they would repair the brakes with either a $50. 00 to $100. 00 deductible. Now , they will not honor that letter. Obviously, there was a problem then for the letter to be sent out, why change it now. I still have the same van and the same problem, only to get worse. The second is the airbags. I was involved in an accident with excessive front end damage as well as totaled the car that was hit by me. The airbags never deployed, fortunately, I was not injured. Chrysler refuses to speak to me about these this issue. That keep telling me that because my auto insurance was involved then they would have to do a subrogation report. This is untrue as per my insurance company. This report only needs to be filled out if the driver or passenger's were injured from the accident. Well since there was no injuries, then there is no need for a report. This incident is a consumers complaint. Chrysler doesn't see it that way. They are trying to find every excuse in the book to not cooperate with my complaints. What is Chrysler waiting for? someone to die if my van is to become into another accident? well, I do not want to wait for that to happen. They need to find the problem and fix it before something bad happens again.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2013

Noticed an unusual sound coming from lr. Exited vehicle and immediately smelled burning brake pads. Lr wheel too hot to touch. Drove vehicle remaining 1/2 mile home. After only five minutes of internet research I had literally thousands of complaints on this same issue, mostly 2008 to 2012 models. My vehicle has less than 38000 miles on it and more than 50% of those are highway miles. Seems like the sheer volume of complaints would warrant a recall or at the very least a NHTSA investigation. I will certainly tell everyone I know to stay away from Chrysler products altogether.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2013

My van did not experience a crash. However, the rear rotors and brake pads had to be replaced. This is the first car that I have owned that needed brake replacement under 50,000 miles. Please note my mechanic and the service advisor at the Chrysler dealership where I leased the van both stated the t & c brake system is a significant and frequent problem.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2013

Im in a repair shop replacing all 4 rotors and all four pads for my town and country brakes. After reading lemon law sides, this is a major problem with these vehicles. Many times, the brakes and rotors are having to be replaced every 10-20 thousand miles. Shame on Chrysler for sticking families with poor and unsafe brakes that must be replaced so often.

7 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

Front and rear disc brakes seem to be undersized for the weight of the vehicle. Have replaced brake pads and rotors multiple times and can't get more than approximately 10,000 miles out of them. Even new, on relatively short road trips, the brakes get extremely hot and start to fade and cause the vehicle to shudder when braking. The brakes get so hot, they've destroyed the chrome cladding on the alloy wheels. Contacted Chrysler and their only recommendation was to install "high performance" brake pads. I have tried different pads to no avail. I currently have vented, drilled and slotted rotors which seems to help but still doesn't solve the problem. The 2010 vehicle is equipped with 12" rotors while the newer vehicles of the same size and weight are equipped with 13" rotors. When asked, Chrysler said they did not have a brake retrofit for the older vans to install larger brakes.

8 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

Have had t&c 2010 van for 2 years - our 11th Chrysler product and our 3rd Chrysler van. How many complaints does it take on this site before Chrysler is aware of a problem with rear brakes & rotors? I have registered a complaint with them - less than 39,000 miles for metal on metal - replacement of pads & rotors - not able to even turn the rotors they were that bad. Chrysler's answer? sorry we can't reimburse you - I wasn't looking for $$ - I was looking for an answer as to why this happened & what is to prevent it from happening in another 20k or 30k? I asked for someone higher up - she said she was the case mgr. I asked for the ceo's name - she couldn't give it out - seriously? I said I'd get it on line. We have a 2005 sebring that just had its first set of front & rear pads and rotors at 105,000 miles - same driving conditions - country roads and an occasional trip to chicago. So why is this happening to our van? there is a problem but Chrysler won't admit it is using cheap parts. Does it only concern them when there is an injury or death? is this not a safety issue if the brakes fail? I don't blame the dealer - they are the stooges and do what Chrysler tells them. And now they are discontinuing the Town & Country and will only have the grand caravan - why is that? let's hope they put better brake systems on them from here on out. Is there anyway we can all band together and get some answers????? we don't have $400 to keep shelling out - while we are trying to pay off this van. But I see we are lucky compared to other folks with problems even sooner. This is a disgrace and Chrysler should own up to a serious problem.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact was driving at an unknown speed when the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the detent package was replaced and the power train control was reprogrammed. The failure recurred several times. Later, while the contact attempted to brake, the vehicle responded slowly and the brake pedal was depressed into the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to dealer where the front brake pads and rotors were inspected and replaced. The front and rear brakes were found to be worn and warped. The manufacturer was made aware of failure however no further assistance was provided. The current mileage was 29,800 and the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

10 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Brake rotors and pads fail prematurly on 2010 Chrysler town and country. The van currently has 51,000 miles and is on it thrid set of rotors and pads---this van should be recalled before someone is injured or killed due to brake failure. Too many complaints already filed for this not to be an recall issue.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the brake pads wore prematurely and caused the rotors to overheat and wear prematurely. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic several times where the rotors were also replaced, however the failure was not corrected and the brake pads continued to wear prematurely every 5,000 miles. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000. Djr.

12 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2012

Rear brake pads worn and rear rotors found to be out of round. Chrysler extended warranty on front brakes to 3 years or 36,000 miles. My front brake pads and rotors were replaced at 17,843 miles by Chrysler for a $50. 00 doller deductible, but was told about rear brake problem also. My question is, most of the braking is done by the front brakes I think the rear brakes were compromised due to front brake failure. I was charged for rear rotors to be resurfaced and pads replaced. I think when this occurs at the same milage, Chrysler should make good for both front and rear brakes.

13 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2011

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and noticed a vibration in the pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated that the front and rear rotors and pads would have to be replaced. There was an extended warranty for the front brakes but not for the rear brakes. The front brakes were replaced but the rear brakes were not. Approximate failure mileage was 9,800.

14 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2011

We purchased the vehicle September 2010. Within first year September 2011 the rotors needed be replaced due to warping. In 2012 within a year of replacement, one set was replace and the other was machined due to warping. June 2013, had to have both sets of rotors replaced again due to warping. The rotors have worn out before the brake pads. The reason we were given was due to excessive heat. I live in southern California where the temperature is not excessive. There is no explanation for the warping or what is causing the excessive heat. This is a safety hazard because the braking system become compromised when the rotors get hot, the car starts to shake every time you apply the brakes. Chryslers is not addressing this issue. Online, there are numerous complaints of this exact same issue. How can the rotors continue to go bad when the brake pads are still in good condition and all within 10k miles.

15 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2011

My van vibrates when I press on my brakes if I am going over 25 mph. Took my van in for service oct. 13 dealership told me my rotors were bad this was at 20,000 + miles and they needed to be turned. Then approx. Nov 15 we received a letter from Chrysler about the brakes and rotors being defective and we had an extension on the warranty, but had to pay a $50 ded. I took the van in on November 16 and the pads and rotors replaced. My van still vibrated after this. Today November 25 we took the van back to the dealership and they replaced the rotors again and said there is still a vibration but it seems to be coming from the rear. It does feel a less intense and not as bad in the steering wheel. They wanted for us to pay to have the rotors turned on the back. I believe there is an issues with the rotors all around on this vehicle. I am not about to pay as much for this van as we did and at the mileage we have on it which is just at 22000 today have to pay to do a thing with the brakes we already paid $50 deductible for for bad rotors once. I believe in supporting american companies but I am ready to trade this one in for a Honda or Toyota.

16 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2011

I have just read way too many identical complaiints. I bought the high end model and at 17000 or possibly before we noticed the brakes would pulsate at even low miles especially after the vehicle would be driven a while. I took it into the dealership where they informed me the same as everyone else that the front rotars were warped and needed replaced or turned. They were only covered for 12k miles. . . And would not cover. This vehicle goes no where. . . I have a stay at home wife who might put 15-20 miles a day on average on this vehicle. I took it in an had the rotars turned and new pads put on. . . . The brakes acted up the same day I picked up the van. "really" . . . . . A 40k van and the braking system has major issues. How is this problem not beeing recalled!!.

17 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

I have a 2010 town and country. Steering wheel started to vibrate around 29,000 miles. Told I needed new rotors and brake pads. Chrysler has been using faulty rotors for the last 3 models and needs to recall vans. Inexcusable that I should have to pay for new brakes with a car that is only 1 1/2 years old.

18 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2011

Shortly after a brand new 2010 Town & Country I started to get shaking in the steering. The shaking would start when I tried to apply the brakes. I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal for minivans and that I must be driving on hills. They said the brakes would need to be resurfaced. They didn't offer to do that at that time and said it was my problem. After a few more months and the problem continually getting worse, I couldn't take it anymore and was ready to pay for new brakes. The dealership provided some sort of warranty and I had to pay a deductible. That solved the problem for a time. After about a year, I started getting some shaking on my tires. I took it to the dealership and they said the brakes were wearing down and that they would need to be replaced soon. I was surprised because the car was less than 2 years old and only had about 20k in mileage. I didn't get any repair at that time. Now it's been about another 6 months and my brakes are completely shot. The rotors have been worn down and need to be replaced along with the pads. This will be the second set in just over 2 years and the car has around 40k in miles. I'm going to pay for this repair and file a claim with Chrysler. This doesn't seem normal and it looks like they have some issues with their brakes.

19 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

Brakes start shuddering at 8,000 miles, rear rotors turned at 12,000 miles, no help, different dealer all new rotors and pads at 16,000 miles, everything good, brakes shuddering again at 23,000 miles, told wheels out of balance - wheels weren't out of balance, still shuddering, back at dealer again - they don't think it's the brakes - they are full of bull!.

20 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2010

While driving at highway speeds approximately 55 mph, and then heavy traffic ahead if I depress my brake pedal the entire car shakes like real violently. I call the dealer they said we are aware of a problem, call for an appointment, when they looked at is about 2 months later they said it is under warranty they had to replace the warped rotors, and brake pads. Everything was fine till about 3 weeks latter it was doing it again I was told again the rotors are warped and I would have to pay a $100 deductible, I told them it is bran new I refuse to pay this. I left the dealer. After a week later I bring it in again the front rotors and pads along with the same in the rear, they said they changed the front rotors and pads out of good faith, I told them thanks for fixing the lemon. They said the vehicle will not pass inspection with the rear like that, I told them they should use better parts, and I will start using another dealer, so I did. Since then Chrysler has issued 2 recalls, one for the front rotors only, and a $100 deductible, and another recall having to do with the front wheel bearings. I was able to fix the rear and front brake pads, and rotors my self using a brand called raybestos they are aware of the Chrysler defect and make a problem free rotor for the fix, I have had it installed so far for 2 years problem free. Raybestos advanced technology rotors and pads.

21 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2010

I have a 2008 Chrysler minivan stow & go, on Mar 12, 2010 I took it to dave dennis chrys. Dodge,Jeep, on col glen hwy in dayton, when got the bill & ready to go, they told me I was due for a tire rotation, so I made an appt. For Mar 19,2010 at 1p. M. After waiting over an hour the service lady came out & told me I needed new rotors & brake pads, I told her I could hardly believe that as the van has only 21,000 miles on it, will be 3 yrs. Old this coming oct. She said they were seeing bad brakes at 16,000mi, I ask why the rotors, why not just the brake pads, but couldn't imagine either one was bad. She said they couldn't replace just the pads as there wasn't space on the rotors to do that. I was really upset, what about people who never have their tires rotated & are dangerously driving with bad brakes. I feel these brakes should be on a CO. Recall if their all like they say. I'm taking my van to a privately owned garage to have them checked out at 10 a. M. On Mar. 23,2010, it's pretty bad when you pay over $30,000 for a vehicle & in 16,000 miles or more the brakes need replaced. I"m concerned about this before the accidents & deaths start to happen. These brakes systems are either a faulty design or below grade material put in them, I'd like you to investigate it. I think the problem started with the 2008 model vehicles & the troubles are just beginning to start.

22 Brake Disc Pads problem
