1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2024

Over 2 yrs now the electrical has been haywire. In driveway the interior lights on dash lights come on and and doors lock and unlock. Driving down road on dash tells you that must put car in park to engage. Lift gate ajar. Heater turns on and off full blast front and back fans. Side doors do not work/ or work when they want to work. Battery brand new gets drained and needs to be charged 1 every month. Had alternator changed. Still does the same thing. I call this my possessed van. At my wits end. Spent much money trying to find out problem unable to locate. Changed fuses did not help. This is my second town and country. I never had a problem with my first one which was a much older model that is why I got another one. Now I am rethinking about getting another town and country. Who is going to help with all of these customer complaints with electrical issues. I am a disabled person who needs my vehicle for appointments. I cannot get stranded or break down or have a vehicle fire. I am frustrated by this company for not caring for their customers needs.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2023

The abs light, traction light, and brake light all come on and simultaneously. I've been told that the abs module is bad and needs to be replaced. The fact that the module needs to be replaced concerns me since there are prior recalls for abs module with other Dodge, ram, and chrsyler makes and models.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2021

Tipm is defective causing the car hard starting and stall. The fuel pump relay stays on draining the new battery . The car starts then shuts down after 2 seconds. The sliding doors open and close, horn stops, car alarm stops intermittently. I had to temporarily bypass the fuel pump relay. The cost of the tipm replacement is $1500.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2021

Our tipm failed causing us not to be able to start the car we were told that the fuel pump was constantly running even though car was turned off. . . We paid a very large bill to get repaired and of course our warranty had expired. . . We felt there should have been a recall for this part. . . Our answer from Chrysler was keep your receipt incase of a recall. . . This repair could have caused a fire if parked in our garage or anywhere. . . Should have been a recall. . .

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2021

Our tipm failed . . Causing us to not be able to start the car and also fuel pump was constantly running even when engine was off and away from car. . . We paid over 3000. 00 to get repaired. . . . . We found out that this could cause the auto to start on fire . . . And endanger our house when parked in the garage. . . Why wasnt there a recall for this part ?.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2020

Chrysler town and country and Dodge minivan have an actuator that locks and unlocks the rear sliding doors. The same part is used for both sides, it just needs an arm on it depending on the side. The defect is that when these actuators go out, it will either not allow the door to lock, or permanently locke the door at any time and remain locked until it is fixed. * there is an emergency and the actuator broken in the locked position the door will not open or operate (inside or outside). It is impossible possible to open the door in anyway unless taking off the inside panel and getting inside to the lock mechanism. If the door is in the unlocked position and you were unaware that the actuator is broken in the unlocked position and you think it's locked and you leave your child in there to run into the house somebody could open the door and steal anything out of your car inclueding a child. When the actuator brakes in the unlock position you have no idea what it is broken. However when it breaks in the lock position it is immediate and without warning as well. When I found out that my door was locked on the drivers side was when I went to get my dog out of my back seat and it was broken. I looked this issue up on the internet and that's what I was told to check both doors and found my my passenger side was permanently unlocked.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2020

I cannot get it to start, it won't turn over. The lights on the dash board came on including the ignition light. The battery is new, so what's the problem?.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

The van has drained a new battery in two days. Dealership claims they can't find the problem even though there is a known problem with their room's from this model year. I have suggested they look at the fuel pump turning on even though a key has not been used to start vehicle and to look at the wireless ignition node module. Seems I have to do the investigative work and incur all the cost. Dealership has had my vehicle for over a week now.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2019

I was at the store when I came out to start my van I put the key in turned it it would not start up the key would not come out it got stuck had to pull it out, and have it towed to the garage and they could not fix it.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2019

I have intermittent starting. I have recently bought this vehicle on 09/11/2019 and I have had this issue with intermittent starting within the first 30 days of buying the vehicle. There are times where my vehicle will start just fine but then there are times where the car will not turn over. The starter had been replaced, along with the battery and alternator. My mechanic had looked at my vehicle multiple times and they say they cannot find anything wrong but I still have issues were I can go a week with no issues but then all of a sudden we will go to start the van and it won't. I have researched this and there are multiple people with the same issue and have identified it is the tipm and this has been an on going issue. This issue always happens when the car if stationary.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2019

Intermetint wipers don't work,, blind spot detection system doesn't work.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Unknown what part is at fault. The automatic sliding doors will open fully and then immediately close. The feature that is supposed to make the doors stop when they detect something does not activate. An adult's full body weight is needed to press on the door to make it stop closing. Faulty on both driver and passenger sides. Starts to happen intermittently and then constantly. Dealership claims it is a "software" issue and not applicable for bumper-to-bumper warranty. I also contacted the mopar warranty department and they also claim it is not a covered issue even though there is a serious safety risk involved. A quick google search reveals it is a common problem.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2019

Won't start at certain times t happen once in January and once in April.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2018

My car will not start and it is because the tipm has stopped working on the car. I have another buddy with a 2010 t&c and the same thing is going on. Part is on backorder 3 weeks so lots of people must be having the issue. I called Chrysler and they told me they can do nothing for me and should contact you. The car cranks when I put the key in the ignition and turn. The car is stopped and cold. It cranks but does not turnover. I have already replaced the battery.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2018

To begin with vehicle would start after, sometimes until after several attemps. It also stopped while driving, just went dead and locked up the whole steering wheel, with the vehicle still rolling. Was just lucky to get off the roadway with no accident. Progressively it got worse, and wouldn't even start at all. Took to reputable repair shop, who said was a recall issue and they weren't able to order the part for repair, because of recall. Informed had to go to dealer for repair. Dealer said this particular VIN was not on recall although issue had been identified as recall issue. Meanwhile, charged me $1275. 83 for repair listing "cause - no power at fuel pump check no power fuse m25, fuse m25 controlled by internal relay in tpim". Fuse m25 needs tpim was $207. 81. Then "tipm kit tipm" was $977. 00. Plus labor and tax. Problem - both indicated this type of vehicle had same issues and were on recall. It is reasonable to expect that my vehicle should have been covered under recall. Please help me recover on this issue.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2018

Total integrated power modual replaced multiple times and still defective. Costing me thousands of dollars! van will suddenly stall at highway speeds. Please make Chrysler fix this. It could easily lead to an accident.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2018

I was driving the vehicle and all the lights on the dash came on and then went black, the van shut off while driving and I was almost hit by a big truck. The van will not start nor hold charge. Thae battery and altnator test good but it wont start. I have had it towed twice in less than a month and honestly cant afford to keep getting stranded. I purchased the vehicle in August of 2016 and this is our family vehicle, at this point I dont have transportation for my job and wouldn't feel safe driving it if it did run. So now im paying for a vehicle that doesn't run and frankly is a saftey hazzard. My husband is disabled and this was our transportation to and from his appointments as well. I have seen and read that thousands are having the same issue with Chrysler and still no recall. Someone please help.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2017

This car has difficulty starting. The battery was checked, replaced and it still happens. Also, the car will stall when going between 20-30 miles per hour. It is a very scary situation.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2017

My wife, 4 children and I were driving home from church Wednesday night at appx. 9:45 p. M when this vehicle shut completely down. The engine quits, the steering was nearly impossible, the breaks were barely working at all, and every single light went dark from the dash to the exterior lights on a road that was winding and pitch black. We were driving as usual around 55-60 mph going down this road. Chrysler treats it as though it is my responsibility and no more than a faulty "aire" control. When it threatens the lives of my wife and children, this is far more than a technical issue or a worn out part. We could have all been killed or seriously injured. Looking online there are several Town & Country minivans of different years having the exact same issue.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2017

When I go to start engine as soon as I put key in it starts trying to start the I turn it off and try again and does the same thing. Eventually it starts. It s in my driveway or at a parking lot. I m afraid if it s keep doing this , it will damage something else.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2017

Ignition switch is defective and will not hold the key. Seems to have been recalled on other years.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2017

My van started to have problems with the rpm, surging from 2 to 5 and then to 6 or 7 rpm with speeds ranging from 40mph to 65 mph. The van also sort of stalls for seconds which makes it terrifying. We took the van to bob caldwell in columbus ohio three times to repair the issue and they updated the software, added fluid to the transmission and allegedly "drove the car for 60 miles" yet couldn't duplicate the issue. All the times that this has happened the car was running. The first time only happened when going 65 or 70 miles per hour on the highway but now it happens on regular roads when traveling 40 mph. I don't know if this related but earlier this year, my car was sent to bob caldwell because it stall/ stop completely while being driven. . . . The problem with the rpm started 3 months later and just last month it wouldn't start. They said the changed the gasket this time but my problem persist.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

Van has to be put out of gear to start, walked outside a few times and auto doors open random lights are popping up on the console for no reason then going away. Started roughly 2. 5 months ago.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2017

Lane change assist went out when vehicle was under 40,000 miles parking assist went out when vehicle was under 50,000 miles.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2016

Bought 2011 town and country new in sept 2011. 3 months after purchase, car was shuddering badly when brakes were applied. Took it in, was told they could not duplicate, and would not repair. Tried a second time, same result. Took to a small repair shop who easily identified the problem, produced a quote for work and told me to take it back to the dealer so they would repair. Took it and dealer found that all four rotors were warped and needed replaced. Same problem 6 months after that, same repair. The next year saw the brakes fail after a loud sound from rear of car and the fluid dumping from the line. No visible object was hit. Same thing happened last week. Currently the van is in the shop for the 7th time in the last four years for brakes. Additionally, had to have the alternator replaced in the last 6 months. The amount of repairs required for a vehicle this new and expensive is insane. I have paid out of pocket for most of these issues and even had to pay for diagnositic fees were the problem could not be reproduced, only to require a repair shortly thereafter I also had to pay for. Asked dealer today for a full detailed log of all repairs done, could not produce a full repair report, only the last 4 years worth. With five years of ownership car has 60,000 miles. Will never ever buy again.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2016

This car has had a non-start problem for 6 mos that has today developed into a complete power failure while driving. I was previously told it was a computer problem but there were no error codes and intermittent, so to wait until here was an error code and bring it back. Today they say that it is a bad alternator, but the alternator tested fine. The low battery icon comes on, engine surges ( like the cruise control is on - but it isn't) then error messages - seat belt/ abs/airbag has deployed/blind spot detection not working, etc - all on and then off again. Turn the car off and wait and it will eventually resort - no warning lights. This car is possessed. But today I lost all power while driving.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2016

When braking the steering wheel and car shake. . . . Have had brakes checked replaced power steering fluid and it's still happening also has the same problem in reverse.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2016

We bought our certified used van in may of 2012. In June of 2012 the alternator had to be replaced, as the battery light came on while driving on the highway. Within the first year of ownership it started having weird quirks: the rear heating system would come on while driving with the temperature controls off, the previously closed windows would be rolled down, and sliding door would be open upon returning to the locked van. In November of 2015 the key fob had become so sensitive to the touch that just a slight bump would make the lock indicator honk sound. We took it into a Chrysler dealership in December of 2015 and a new key fob and and software update stopped the honking, the sliding doors opening and the windows rolling down. The heating system continued to turn on by itself. In July 2016 the van started being hard to start. We had it towed to a garage in michigan, where we were visiting, and we were told the code was a security issue between the fob and the starter. We drove it to a dealer in michigan who could not duplicate the problem. Difficulty starting the van started again in October 2016, especially after a cold night. On October 31, 2016, while the van was off in the driveway I heard a noise like a vacuum coming from under the van. When I went to unlock and start the van it was dead. After having the battery replaced, the mechanic friend who replaced it heard the noise and said it sounded like the fuel pump running (while the car was off). The garage we took it to found that we had a faulty totally integrated power module (tipm). Some research has show us that this is a common problem for Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler vehicles that causes airbags to not work because the fuel pump runs constantly. The heating system turning on is also a symptom of this. Why if some Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler vehicles have a recall for this part are they not for all models?.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

Van at times would start then cut of while parked. When it would start and stay on when you are driving van would cut off now the van is at the Chrysler dealership in hopes of repair.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2016

7/21/2016 car started fine this morning went into store and would not start. Tried turning key about 8 times and then gave up for a minute or two. I tried again and it started. This happened about 1 month before while in my driveway. Same thing, I tried about 8 / 9 times then it started. I decided to call dealership today and have it taken in since I have a extended warranty. I also, did some research where a lot of people are saying that it is the tipm. I now noticed some of the other problems I have had with it tie into tipm, my driver window sometimes wont go up or down. The car will just lock even while running locking my keys inside. I can hear electrical things moving and shutting down after the vehicle is turned off, and about 2 weeks ago I was in park with the car running and I heard a loud pop and the whole car shut down. My check engine light also comes on and turns off whenever it feels like it for no apparent reason,I have 71,000 miles. When I bought the car I had to have the left head gasket replaced after having it towed from the ide of the road. I really think I bought a lemon, but will soon find out what the dealership says Tuesday which is the soonest they can get me in, hopefully I don't break down with my kids in it before then.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2016

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2016

Vehicle invoved in accident on fwy, collision did over $6500 in damage. But the airbags never deployed. From looking thru internet I see that probs with the tipm can cause airbags not to deploy when needed. Have had other issues with tipm such as veh not starting on numerous occasions.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2016

My blind spot monitoring system is malfunctioning. My vehicle has 104,000 miles. The blind spot system sensors were previously replaced after a similar malfunction at 74,000 miles 1. 5 years ago (8/15/14). The vehicle is well maintained and taken care of and most miles are highway miles to and from work. Both blind spot indicators remain lit in the side mirrors once the vehicle is turned on -- both while stationary and while driving. This is extremely distracting and a saftey risk when driving. Also the vehicle information center continued to chime about every 10 minutes and the message screen switches to a warning with the indication to "service blind spot system. " while driving. A simple online search of "service blind spot system" brings up multiple complaints of the exact same thing having happened to owners of multiple years of this make and model of this vehicle. All of these complaints, on average, had roughly the same amount of miles (30,000 - 50,000 -- I am now at 30,000 miles from when the system was last replaced. The first replacement occurred at 74,835 miles). Chrysler charges $1,200 per sensor for replacement. This appears to be a recurring problem/defect and there should be a recall for this issue. Both sensors should be replaced by Chrysler at no cost to the owner. The system failure causes a safety risk due to the incessant distraction caused by the system failure warnings flashing on the dash, the chiming, and the triangle lights in the side mirrors, all which I have been unable to turn off.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

My car shuts off while driving and wont start right away. It gives no warning. It happens anywhere. It is unsafe in many ways. . I have taken it ot the dealer and the problem persist. I have no more warranty in the vehicle.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2015

Blind spot indicators began to malfunction with indicators in mirrors remaining on, and driver information system stating the blind spot indicator system failed. Also lost rear back-up camera shortly thereafter. Vehicle just has 41000 miles on it. It is a distraction as the unit constantly chimes of the blind spot monitoring being unavailable.
