I hate to jump on the "stuck gas pedal " band-wagon here but I have a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country that I have been having issues with. When I get in the van and start it the gas pedal gets stuck in the "up" position. Now, once I press hard on it, it breaks it free. But the problem is when I have to press hard on it breaks loose and causes the van to accelerate rapidly. Now, it does this very often, I would say it does it about 60 to 70% of the time. Also, it will do it several times a day, for example. It will do it first thing in the morning, then again after I stop to get gas, then again when I get in it to head home for the day. Anytime, when I stop and shut off the motor, I run the risk of it getting stuck when I start it. I contacted the dealer about the problem and they told me they knew "exactly" what the problem was, now this tells me that there is an issue with this and there needs to be a recall. I have never lodged a complaint about anything but this is pretty dangerous, and if they know "exactly" what is wrong with it Chrysler needs to do something about it. The dealer I took it to was cass burch Chrysler valdosta GA. This problem started at around 25,000 to 30,000 miles. The van now has 50,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated the accelerator pedal sporadically would remain in the open throttle position. He would apply repeated, steady pressure until it would release itself. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the accelerator pedal was replaced. Within a few years, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the accelerator was serviced a second time. The failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage was 32,000. Updated 07/19/10. Updated 07/23/jb.
Going approx 50 mph on a suburban highway with several stoplights, the accelerator seemingly "stuck", resulting in great difficulty slowing down. Stopping the car was not possible. Rpms were very high, and could not be lowered. Was only able to stop the car after shifting the car into neutral and gradually applying brakes, then turning the car off. Confirmed by tow-truck driver and Chrysler dealership service personnel that this is some sort of failure in the vehicle itself. They were also unable thus far to get the rpms to slow down. If you start the car now, even in park, the rpms immediately rev very high. The car is currently at the dealership undergoing diagnostic workup.
